Great food and great hosts! The slow-cooked pork was flavorful and moist, and the portion was very generous. I loved the empanadas and the mango shake. The coconut flan was some of the best I’ve had. This small, friendly family-run café is a true gem! I heartily recommend them, and I look forward to exploring their menu.

This is one of the best Cuban restaurants that I have come to. Just a little spot in Lincolnwood. I normally always get the fried yucas with mojo. I love the avocado salad their papa regellanas are really good too I’ve had several sandwiches and dinners and everything is always great! Great flavor!

Really a 2 star, but the extra star is for the customer service. They are super nice and friendly. I was craving Latin food and was referred here by my sister. Apparently the reviews said the jibarito sandwhich was amazing. I went in ordered 2 sides of Arroz con gondules, 1 chicken jibarito and 1 steak jibarito and sweet plantains. The sweet plantain was ok. The chicken jibarito was bland, dry and had absolutely no flavor at all. The rice was crunchy and salty. My husband couldn’t finish the steak jibarito, he thought it was awful as well as the rice so his food went in the garbage. I have had amazing jibarito before and they by far do not compare so I’m not sure what the rave reviews are for. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it was not worth the $ 30 I paid for it. I will most likely not return. Very disappointed.

Came here with the bubs, as we were craving Cuban food. I was really impressed! Great good, great service –they are family owned and they treat you like family! All the normal Cuban dishes and the coffee(café con leche) was amazing! As I’ve said in other reviews –so excited to have some culinary diversity way up north here in Rogers Park!

Thoroughly impressed. I love Cuban sandwiches, and this place makes a fine Cuban sandwich at a remarkably low price compared to some other Cuban places I’ve tried in the city. Fast and friendly staff had my takeout order wrapped up in mere moments. It was refreshing to see a genuine family-like atmosphere among employees there, not another ‘business/profit first, fake kindness’ you’ll get from most restaurants when they really don’t give a rat’s ass about you. The chicken empanadas were wonderfully fresh and home-made, not freezer/fridge to fryer. That’s just wonderful because to me it shows that the people who run this place care about their product. This place is a gem and I’m glad I’m a quick 5 minute drive away. Can’t wait to come back. The only downside is the parking situation; you either have to park in a death trap of an alley next to it or improperly around the corner by the Dunkin’ Donuts and Lincolnwood permit parking.

Outstanding. Great food and even better service. Family owned and served. Lived in Miami, visited Havanna… this Cubano makes the cut. The family friendliness far exceeds expectations and the cubano with a side of black beans can’t be topped in Chicago.

Taste of cuba is a casual place to grab some authentic cuban food. We split a cuban sandwich and some yucan fritas between two. The yucan fritas were awesome. I would highly reccomend checking out taste of cuba. The flan is a solid dessert option. Coffee was good too.

First time. I’ve been to many different Cuban restaurants living Humboldt park and the only reason I’m giving this 3 stars is because they were very nice. Environment was very small and the food was ok. I ordered the Bisteac and tostones. Steak was very fatty hard to chew and the tostones were thick and under cooked. Maybe the cook was having a bad day. Sorry folks i do not recommend this suburban cubano restaurant but i do recommend Humboldt park for great cuban food. Caio

Great Cuban food and prices. Not a whole lot of seating but I’ve never had to wait for a seat. I wish they were open a little later, I always find myself wanting their food like a half hour after they close, but it’s a family business so I get it. No complaints, try the Cuban sandwich and the yuca frita.

No need to say much here. Went to the mall and had my taste buds assaulted at that nasty«90 Miles Café» chain restaurant. A Friend pointed me down the block on Touhy to Taste. Best Cuban Food In The Chicagoland Area!!!1

Excellent food here my wife love the Cuban sandwich«jibarito», and I enjoy the slow roasted pork dish. Scrumptious indeed!!! It’s a small place so big parties aren’t suggested. But everything is very good here, I’ve gone through most of the menu. Perfect spot for two people on a date!!!

I originally gave them three stars, but because they haven’t change their website menu pricing I’m bringing their rating down to two stars. the reason why I originally gave them three stars was mainly because of the quality of the food. I was delighted the first few times I went in for takeout. The ropa is amazing. People that work there are friendly and nice mostly. So I went in a while back to pick up my take out of ropa and once again I was charged a few extra dollars from their online price. So this time I decided to ask because previously I thought it was for rice or the type of Rice I’d picked out actually. In any case when I questioned the woman, she told me they just hadn’t changed the internet price. I don’t think that’s fair. i assumed that the price they had on the internet was the price they would be charging. So for that and that alone I unfortunately have decided to stay away until I can’t stand it anymore. Update February, 21, 2016. They still haven’t changed the prices on their website to reflect the restaurant. How fucking lazy can you be? Screw these guys I will never ever go back. They don’t deserve my business or yours. Jorge, if you care to leave a comment and you’re going to be insulting at least have some balls and show your face. I left an honest review and unless you work at the place you should appreciate my honesty and not be a jerk.

Taste of Cuba is located @ 3918 W. Touhy just east of Crawford. I met my sister here for a quick grab and go lunch. The food was pretty good. All made with good fresh ingredients. I ordered the Cubano which had sliced ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, mustard & pickles. The sandwich is pressed and served hot, but seemed to lack any really intense flavors that made it pop and stand out. Still it was a good sandwich. The Lechon Sandwich tasted good, but once again lacked any real flavor that made it stand out. My sister ordered the Cuban tamale which had a slightly sweet taste to the corn tamale wrapping. I was sort of indifferent to the flavor. The person that took my order was very friendly & helpful

This review is brought to you by the letter H! Home-y: this is a descriptor because it’s easy to tell this place is a family owned operation. I felt like I was invited in to enjoy a meal at an inviting family’s house, kitchen easily visible when you walk in. HOT: yes!!! Each of our orders came out PIPINGHOT! And I love it when this happens at any restaurant because people pay for hot, made-to-order food! We had to wait several minutes for the ham and cheese croquettas to cool down, as well as the yuca sticks. I still burned my tongue on those piping hot tostones(fried plantains)! #hungrygirl The cubano sandwiches have a good ratio of meat(pork and ham) to cheese to pickle in that crunchy, crusty bread(lasted me 2 meals). Humid: describes the night we moseyed in, but I’m pretty sure it shouldn’t be the reason that the tables were a little sticky. :o/ Holla, homies!

Wonderful service! This was one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. The woman who waited on us was beyond lovely. She walked us through everything and we basically went with everything she recommended.

DELCIOUS!!! I got the grilled steak that they only serve on Saturday and Sunday and WORTHGETTING! The steak was very tender and juicy, cooked just the way I like it! It also had the green sauce on the side with it!!! Sweet Plantains was not that sweet but the dish overall still was sooo GOOD! Hubby got the ropa veija. Had a taste of it and omg that was even delicious too! The slow cooked steak marinated in red sauce peppers… yummy! Service was lovely!!! The way to inside the restaurant was very welcoming! I would definitely come back again and try out more of the food they offer!

I went here this pass weekend with my mom and sister for lunch. The place isn’t that big, but we were able to sit right away. We were impressed with how fast we got our food and it was piping hot! I had the Bistic Encebollado. The steak and onions were good. I went with the white rice and beans, which were sort of plain. I also had sweet plantains. The texture of the plantains was decent but they weren’t sweet enough. I however did enjoy the Yukon potatoes my mom ordered. I couldn’t help comparing it to the Cuban restaurants I visit frequently and I probably wouldn’t go out of the way to come, but would stop by if I’m in the area.
