A chineese bistro stading by road side that I drove by for last 10 years; it never caught my attention. My husband and I ended up trying it one of these extreme cold evenings; ended up at a place with slow service, cold luke warm treatment like the weather outside with mediocre tasting food. Came out thinking that we were so right not going there earlier and also is it just us who got that type of luke warm attention from the host. A puzzling dinner night. Will most likely not go back.

Awful. Not a Chinese person on the staff. Waitress never brought two of our dishes. Frozen cheesecake right out of a frozen food box for seven dollars, served upside down by s waitress who didn’t care. Chewy chicken. Attitude from the young waiter who claimed they don’t have soy sauce or mustard. Watch your bill here… we were charged for items we never got. Avoid this place.

We’ve been to Simon Lin’s a few times and always really enjoy it. I do think their food is always a little different than a more traditional Asian restaurant so it keeps us on our toes a bit, but my go-to menu item when we go is the pad thai. We’ve had great experience with the servers, it has never seemed overly crowded when we’ve gone at dinner and have been able to find some online coupons which is an added bonus. Any time I mention this place to my husband he bugs me about going there until we finally get ourselves over to Simon Lin’s!

We like the selection of tea. Cranberry Hibiscus is my favorite. The sushi roll was excellent. We love the vegetarian dumplings. Confetti chicken is fantastic. We have not had a dish we didn’t like. The atmosphere is casual, comfortable and clean.

Price is right but portions are very small and our sashimi tasted spoiled… We didn’t finish it thinking it might be bad… On the bright side, service overall was very good and courteous

Atmosphere: C– Food: B Service: B+ Decent restaurant, but I will not be in a rush to return. No specific complaints at all, but there was nothing about this establishment the«demands» an immediate return. The food was fresh, well presented and good tasting. The service was attentive, friendly, informed and timely. However, the décor is very dated, the lighting too dim and generally it served to detract from the meal. Going out to a restaurant, for me at least, is a combination of factors and where one is markedly out of step with the others, it limits my enjoyment.

Came in for lunch. Ordered the Yu Shang Chicken which was pretty tasty. I ordered it spicy for fear that it would be too sweet with mangoes in it. But it was good. The rice might have been a bit overcooked, but nothing too horrible. The egg drop soup was not your typical syrupy mess. Tasted fresh and had a good combination of flavor for such a simple soup. Loved how peaceful the dining atmosphere was-since I was looking to relax on my lunch break. Overall, great food.

My wife and I have been to Simon Lins bistro a number of times. While this place isn’t a regular spot for us we do enjoy it. Décor-the décor is beautiful and very nicely done. The staff does a great job of keeping this place clean and organized. Staff– Very polite and professional, the owner does a great job training them. Overall Impression when walking in: Every time we have come here during peak hours with the exception of Sunday, we are always sad to see at how empty it is. Sunday Brunch– Hands down the best all you can eat buffet you can get. You pay about $ 30-$ 35 for a very high quality menu with great selection. The food quality for a buffet is great and you are not likely to beat it. Over all menu– My wife and I have sampled many aspects of the menu. In my opinion this is what holds Simon Lins back. The menu is really large and expansive with some items are look creative. However it is a lot to take in, and one can be intimidated by it many of the items are just unremarkable. In my opinion their fried calamari is hands down the best calamari I have had, it is made perfectly and has a unique texture. On Sunday brunch I would just eat the calamari if my wife would let me. The thing is, if they had 15 items just as good and creative as the fried calamari I think this place would be packed out.

Can’t comment on the food. Never had a chance. Went in on Mother’s Day with a reservation even. Place was less than half full, but seemed way under staffed and stressed. My wife’s chair had some kind of liquid on it, and I didn’t even have a chair. Both of which were addressed by the hostess fortunately. But really? Sat for 15 minutes — never saw a server. Nobody. Nothing but water from a stressed out bus boy while was standing waiting for a chair. Whom of which, was repeatedly being yelled at by the manager. It was embarrassing to sit there and watch. Finally, once I saw a lady getting soup spilled on her by one of the servers we never saw — we just got up and walked out. Best decision we made, as Kona Grill took very good care of us down the street. If this place was ever any good, it’s barely a memory of that now.

Hello! This is a fantastic find. My husband took me for Valentines day and I can’t wait to go back! The food was fresh and delicious! Previously, I hadn’t liked sushi but I love it now! Our wait staff gal was fabulous… Sarah…who was extermely accommodating, very knowledgeable and simply a joy! The atmosphere was relaxing with the sound of the waterfall, dim lighting and LIVEPIANOANDFLUTE music which was over the top… and I loved that we were not rushed and were able to chill without any pressure to leave. The only thing that could have been better was the nasty manager being EXTEREMLY intimidating and disrespectful to Sarah… which was totally uncalled for. Can’t wait to go back…

I placed an order online using the awesome and convenient Beyond Menu app. Order was $ 23 plus change. Delivery charge $ 3. Driver shows up knowing I will be paying cash. I hand him $ 40 and ask for $ 5 change. Quite a generous $ 8 tip on a $ 23 order no? He has the audacity to tell me he has no change. I call restaurant, they say they can’t help me. $ 17 surcharge overall on a $ 23 meal? Does that sound right?

Simon Lins has never disappointed and is a regular haunt for some of my family members. We particularly like the Sunday Brunch, which is all you can eat — but you order from an actual menu with very good offerings, which is a welcome departure from the typical. Everything we have eaten here has always been well executed, innovative many times, and always prepared fresh. Simon himself often comes out to say hello, check in, and deliver a complimentary appetizer or two on the house. While some might argue there are better Asian/Asian-fusion restaurants, I really do believe Simon Lins’ offers a great combination of excellent service, warm ambiance/family atmosphere, very good food and reasonable prices — in the burbs!

Last night was the 3rd time ordering carry-out from Simon Lin’s. It was not only the charm, it’s always the Charm. 1st Time we ordered(safe) and had the Spicy Tuna. It was exceptional. The second time we ordered(safe) the beef fried rice. Very exceptional and clean tasting with no greasy after taste. Some of the best we have ever had. Yes we lived on the north side of the city for 30 years and recently lived near China Town for the last 2-years and have eaten at many restaurants there. We also ordered the MONGOLIANBEEF it was very tender, thinly sliced and seasoned to perfection. Last and not least was SIMONLIN’S SPECIALTOFU. EXCEPTIONAL, a must have especially if you are a vegetarian. This time we ordered the HUNANBEEF, which I would definitely order again. More Fried Rice(YUM) and the highlight upon Mr. Simon Lin’s recommendation«LIN’S CHICKEN». This is quite possibly THEBEST Chinese dish made with chicken I have ever had. The chicken was shredded and spiced amazingly. Can’t wait to try the beef. OURNEW«GOTO» Place for Chinese. Thrilled we don’t have to drive into the city to get exceptional Chinese Food. If this place was in Lincoln Park or River North it would be PACKED. Forgot to mention the complimentary hot tea while I waited. Outstanding. Made me feel welcomed and appreciated. Especially yesterday in the sub-zero temps. Above and beyond.

Simon Lins has some of the best food I eat there at least once a week ! It may look closed on the outside but that shouldn’t stop you from coming and trying it out! Some of my favorites include the Yu-Shang chicken, Lins Stir-fried rice, Szeschwan dumplings, and the kung Bao chicken. The staff is also very nice!

Went here for lunch. The food was great overall, but not too many veggie options. The veggie roll was a bit bland, however the Chinese tofu dish was excellent. Perhaps a touch too much garlic for me, and slightly too much salt for my mom, but it’s made to order, so make sure to just tell them how you like it. Their seafood salad was good, and their egg drop soup was phenomenal. The soft she’ll crab roll was good, however the rice seemed not fresh, but not bad. The chocolate Wasabi mouse was delicious, served in a puddle of light crème, however the mouse came frozen. So it was cold and the texture of ice cream or sorbet. It was kind of a disappointment compared to what a good mouse should be. They’re super friendly. The front of the house was in fact slightly too friendly if your the type who wants to be left alone, but no harm done. The menu is reasonably priced. I’ll definitely go back!
