My wife and I slipped over to Toast on a Tuesday night around 8:00pm. It was our wedding anniversary and we thought we would go split a dessert while our child was at a sports practice. I like the look and atmosphere of Toast. Half coffee shop, half bar and restaurant. Really laid back. We sat ourselves and were promptly waited on. Our order consisted of a glass of ice water, a cup of decaf coffee, and big piece of chocolate cake ala mode’. We saw that they served«UNL Dairy Store Ice Cream», yum! The waitress returned shortly with a half cup of coffee stating«this is what they had left but they were brewing a fresh pot.» I took a drink: cold. Yuck. Disgusting. After a short wait, my hot cup of coffee arrived and a huge piece of chocolate cake. I didnt count but it had to be 10 layers or more, but there was a problem. Our chocolate cake ala mode’ was sans ala mode’. I have to say the fresh coffee tasted great, and the cake tasted great, though I’m suspect if it’s made in house. It seemed a like a pre-made dessert that I lot of restaurants buy from wholesalers. Positives: They did get the ice water correct and I had fantastic company. We a planning a trip to the UNL Dairy Store to get the ice cream.

I went here on a Friday afternoon, with a friend. Wasn’t busy at all, sat ourselves and our waiter was quick and did a good job. I have been here a few times before and have been impressed each time. First your drinks come in a Mason jar, which I am all for. Then the menu has favorites for everyone from deli sandwich’s, salads to your typical burgers, to fun and different burgers. I decided on the Hawaiian burger, which had pineapple salsa, spicy capicola and Swiss on a toasted ciabatta bun. OHMY. It was amazing, and it wasn’t an overload of spicy or odd flavors. It was the perfect combination of all ingredients to equal an amazing burger. The fries were also quite good. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have sweet potato fries when I asked, however, the plain fries were very good. The atmosphere is a coffee house(which they are also)/bar/restaurant. This does make it a very fun, open, and relaxed atmosphere. I would highly recommend the Toast to anyone and might I suggest trying one of their fun burgers! Next on my list to try is the PB and Bleu burger or the Thai burger.

Peanut butter Bleu burger ALL the way! Delicious! Also it’s relatively kid friendly, which is a plus! The atmosphere is really cool, and the story of the wood used in building the restaurant is so interesting. Love it!

I’ve been here a few times, have ordered different things each time, and have not ever been impressed. I’m not a picky eater. However, I do believe that if I’m going to pay these prices for food, it had better be more than mediocre, and it isn’t. Also, I have NEVER experienced good customer service here. The wait staff appears bored, and they act like it’s such a pain to serve you. Also, the owner is extremely rude. She basically walks around glaring at her staff and customers, rolling her eyes all the time. Seriously, there are a ton of great restaurants in Lincoln to choose from, go to one of them instead.

Great parmesan artichoke dip with garlic bread dippers. Craving it now! Love their nachos with«queso awesome.» They’re not wrong to call it that. A tasty fried chicken sandwich was on special when we were there; hubby wants to see it on the menu. Many more items on the menu that we want to try. Friendly, efficient service and easy atmosphere. Maybe a bit pricey, but quality rules. Glad to find out from a Unilocal reviewer that LeadBelly is affiliated with Toast. Now we need to try LeadBelly.

Toast works in that weird way, you can have one table throwing back beers(ours) and a family with small children enjoying mini corndogs in harmony. The waitstaff is attentive and genuinely seem to love the people who come in, from first timers to regulars from the surrounding neighborhoods. The menu is an amazing hodge podge of traditional and intriguing items. I tried the Bourbonade first. I enjoyed that it wasn’t too lemony nor did it have an overwhelming pop taste. Very mellow and the right amounts of everything to wash down any of the delicious bites on the menu. The mellowness did have the effect of making the drink seem watered down, but as my table concluded this could mean one of two things; I’m coming up on a drinking problem, or it’s a sneaky drink, one that catches up to you after two and now you’re drunk in the bathroom telling girls how much you love their shoes(ok if you’re a girl, not so much if you’re a guy. in case you were wondering). Next up(and pretty much the most important part of this review) are the wings for Wednesday Wine & Wings Night. 50 cent wings! Will these wings take up the void that is the day after/before BWW’s special days. With so many flavor choices(buffalo hot or hotter than hot, honey mustard, espresso bbq, and sweet & spicy Asian chili) you certainly feel like a kid in the candy store, thoroughly satisfied with your OG flavors(like buffalo hot) and fun new kids on the block(honey mustard anyone). My table tried both the Asian chili and the espresso bbq(because we are at a hybrid coffeehouse so yes get everything with espresso in it) both different experiences. I really love Asian chili sauce especially when they get the kick level right(insert martial arts joke here) which Toast has achieved on all counts. I always have a quarrel with the fact that restaurants don’t seem to season their chicken wings anymore if there is a sauce slathered on it, but that’s never going to change. The wings were hot and fresh and enjoyed by all anyway. The espresso bbq wings were another story. I wasn’t quite sure what I was expecting. Certainly not for them to taste like a cup of coffee sauce(which they didn’t) but would they be bbq-ey at all? Would I need the accompanying ranch or bleu cheese? The chicken was hot and fresh and quality wings. I couldn’t discern a real coffee flavor, just a mild bbq so I felt slightly shafted. I expected these to be in your face(so yeah maybe I lied about the cup of coffee sauce comment) but maybe they are better this way. Just a faint reminder that you can also get a great cup of coffee here, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Terrible brunch. No eggs. Service was agonizingly slow. The establishment was in disarray and there were about 10 tables of customers to 4 – 5 waitstaff. Do brunch elsewhere.

Toast has a well priced lunch special featuring a half sandwich and soup or salad. I really enjoyed my Schoolhouse Club on Black Russian bread and cup of Tomato Dill soup. They are full over the noon hour, so come a little early or you may wait a bit.

The restaurant is situated in a splendid new area of town. I’d heard this place was worth a visit and was happy to have visited on a splendid summers evening with my wife. The experience was a bit hit and miss to be honest. My wife’s dish was a Tuna Melt Sandwich with a hint of curry, simple but good quality and well executed especially as Tuna which can be dry. The serving size was more than ample and we landed up taking half home, not a bad problem I guess. I had the Tilapia with rice and fresh veggies, the fish could have stood up with the amount of salt/seasoning on it. Had to re-fire the dish and the second attempt which was much better with the seasoning left on the side for my discretion which was a very good call. I’ll be back even if it’s an odd kind of coffee shop/café/bar/restaurant. The cross branding with the Mill and Toast is confusing from a marketing and consumer perspective. Like trying to squeeze too many good ideas into one brand. The door has both names and logos on the front, upon entering it looks like a coffee shop but then there’s a restaurant and bar area on the sides. Love the décor which was a mix of old reclaimed wood from other local buildings with modern industrial infusions. We will return for another summers evening laid back dinner.

A quick caffeine stop on our road trip from Mpls to Denver. It’s a little off the beaten path but worth the trip. Nice people, quiet atmosphere. I also grabbed beans to go so I can wake up caffeinated at home tomorrow.

Not sure what people see in this place. The place doesn’t know what it is. Is it a bar? Is it a coffee shop? Or is it a restaurant? Make up your mind. Food was terrible and of poor quality for the price. Hubby had the ½ sandwich and salad and his sandwich half was smaller then one we could have made at home. I had the Reuben and the meat was grissly and way overdone. Avoid the bleu cheese dressing, they make it in house and it does not resemble bleu cheese dressing at all and it’s disgusting. Don’t bother stopping in Fallbrook for Toast, drive 10 more minutes down to the Haymarket and get yourself some real food.

Just finished the Carolina bbq burger. Holy cow! Talk about some serious flavor! I’ve heard lots about toast, I frequent their sister restaurant LeadBelly in the hay market and have heard lots about this place. I figured I better come see if this place was approved. The atmosphere is really nice at TOAST. They have gourmet coffee, wine, beer, and some fantastic food. I came with a group of people and we all ordered something different. No one would shut up about how great their meal was… Also the service was fantastic TOAST is a must try if you like LeadBelly. I’ll be back again soon.

Great atmosphere, great service, great food, and plenty of choices. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy some healthy or comfort food. My server was more than happy to accommodate any changes I wanted to make to the menu item I chose. Thank you for creating yet another great small business.

Great place! Had a couple salads the one with almonds and cranberries with salmon instead of chicken and was delicious! Also tried the fried green beans and boom! Juicy, meaty, crisp! The menu is sentimental because it shows historical items around Nebraska that are within the building! The service was phenomenal, the drinks were great and cheap! Loving that there’s outside seating. Overall a great little gem in the burbs :)! A+

You’re not going to see a lot of farmer types in this place, but the food is good. The service was very good, but you should understand that you’re not going to get in and out of this place in a hurry. I took the wife and my 3 kids on a Friday night and everybody ordered something different. It was all good… from the hot wings to the grilled cheese to the reuben to the pasta. The coffee was excellent(says the wife), and we all enjoyed a variety of desserts from apple pie and ice cream, just ice cream, and a fancy, shmancy cupcake. The only complaints is that it isn’t a little closer to home, but we’ll drive the 30 minutes it takes to get there because you’ll get a great meal.

Went for lunch with four co-workers. It was close to 1:00 in the afternoon and it was busy. I had a BLT on white toast with cottage cheese as a side. Lots if bacon! Very good. My co-workers had the BBQ sandwich and a hamburger. No complaints from anyone. Great place for lunch with a large bar for after work. Wait staff was fine although it took some time for our food to arrive. Approximately 20 minutes. A long time for lunch.

Okay last time must have been a fluke. Second visit was much better, Reuben and all. Go for the comfort food here and you’ll thank me later.
