Buy the sauce! It’s like $ 6. I splurged on one when I checked out and it only lasted me 2 weeks, which is crazy for hot sauce. It’s best on eggs over easy and hash browns, but I had it on every thing from lean cuisines to pizza rolls, it’s spicy and has a nice vinegar bite. The food is pretty run of the meal for breakfast maybe slightly above other chain joints around town. It’s the sauce, the service and the coffee that keep me coming back. Also if you have coffee left over in your pot ask for a to-go cup!

A nice little sit-down eatery. I’ve wanted to try this place for a while and for some reason I thought it was more fast food than diner. I was pleased to find it’s much like a Perkin’s or iHop with a little less of a menu. I opted for breakfast for lunch and was able to easily accommodate my low carb dietary restrictions with no fuss. I had the Vera Cruz Chicken and Avocado Omelette — an egg white omelette with grilled chicken, fresh tomatoes, onions and roasted green chilies topped with Jack and Cheddar cheeses and fresh avocado. I liked that the accompanying fruit was more than just some melons, it included slices of apples, grapes, berries and melon and I was allowed to sub green chili for the English muffin. I asked for a small portion so there was also no additional charge, which I really appreciated. I hate being penalized for trying to be healthy! The environment was cheery, clean, the service prompt and cheerful. It’s located across the street from where I work and I’m sure I’ll return many times. Extra points to the Egg & I for the awesome interactive nutritional menu. Not only does it provide calories for meals but also calories if you add or delete items! Much appreciated!

Wonderful food. Great service. Fast. There are at least 5 additional items that I am so excited to come back to try! We had the white chicken chili and the corn beef hash and eggs. The hash was excellent, exactly as it should be and the eggs were cooked perfectly… over medium is rarely perfect. The chili had enough heat to call it chili, but not over whelming to make it unpleasant to eat. Just the right amount corn to add a pop of sweetness.

Good breakfast/brunch place! Came here after a doctors appointment and was pleasantly surprised how nice it was being a chain! It’s warm and inviting! Staff is friendly! I got a coffee with the classic eggs Benedict. Very good! Holindase sauce was spot on and delicious. Eggs were cooked great and ham was good but I would have loved a little more caramelization! They are pretty pricy though for what you get! I was a little surprised at their prices for a breakfast place! Overall good experience! Just a little on the expensive side. Clean, warm, welcoming, with nice staff and decent coffee !

After a disappointing experience at the downtown location, where we waited 12+ min. for water, and a waitperson to even look our way, we had the exact opposite experience when we left downtown and headed East. We were barely seated and our wonderful server was there with water, and asking if we’d like coffee. The difference between the two staffs was astounding! This location merits a return trip. Food was good, as always. The eggs in my Benedict were done perfectly, and my husband loved his Mexican skillet.

Not super impressed. Food was good. Service was lacking. Decided to get some breakfast around noon on a Saturday. Took awhile to get seated, about 5 – 10 min. It seemed busy but after looking around you could see there were plenty of open tables and many workers wandering. They seemed overstaffed though. Once we were seated I asked the server about the coffee on special«caramel crunch coffee» sounded like something fancy but when I asked all she said was«I don’t know, it’s caramel-y and not crunchy» it was just coffee though. I got the raisin bread French toast and it was delicious. They don’t serve hash browns, instead they serve«ranch potatoes» which aren’t very good in my opinion. They only have wheat pancakes so keep that in mind if you’re a pancake lover. While we were eating we could hear the servers talking in the kitchen and they started vacuuming by our table.

When I walked into the egg and I we were greeted with a smile and immediately seated at a table. Both the hostess who I believe was the manager and also our server were very attentive and polite. There is a pretty extensive breakfast menu as they are open from 7AM to 2:30PM during the week and you can order breakfast at any time. I noticed that there was also a lunch portion the menu including sandwiches salads wraps etc. There was ample water at our table and the food that came out was hot and very good. I would consider this a standard breakfast or brunch fare food restaurant. It would be perfect for one of those days you have off or a lazy weekend when you want to indulge in some breakfast food. As always in Lincoln parking is no problem, as it is located in a shopping center that is quite large.

Good food and service. I stopped in for breakfast. I had the biscuits and gravy. Not bad. Overall, a good place to have breakfast.

This was a solid 4. The omelette was very good. They had a Southwest Salad that was off the charts! I would come back. Fast service, clean, friendly, you won’t be disappointed!

The most cozy feel a chain restaurant can provide. I enjoyed the service and the food is delicious. Great place for breakfast.

This is a great go-to breakfast spot with all the standard breakfast items a Nebraskan could ever hope for. They can seat you fast, the service is quality, and the menu has more egg options than you can shake a Bo Pelini middle finger at. If you’re feeling the need for healthy items, they’ve got those, too. I recommend the berry-ola granola oatmeal. It’s a huge portion of healthy stuff with a cup of fruit on the side. Plus, it almost sounds like you are saying«areola» when you order it. If your dining partner is one with her inner 13-year-old like mine was, there will be plenty of nervous giggles when you say berry-ola!

Since Kuhl’s closed in downtown Lincoln years ago, this particular TE&I is now my fave place for breakfast! And it’s too easy to defend my statement! First and foremost, the staff is excellent, friendly, and helpful. The manager there was outstanding as was our server. The menu is full of choices. I bounced around enough during the week I was there to try a little of everything. From a healthy veggie omelette to a Santa Fe Skillet full of beautiful Mexican flavors, I enjoyed every bite! The cooking was consistently solid on all dishes! On the weekends, especially Game Day, there is a very healthy wait! It is so worth it though! Bön appetit, Lincoln style!

A decent place for breakfast or lunch with all the usual typical offerings such as variations of pancakes, french toast, eggs, and omelets. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was tasty. I liked how the pancakes were whole wheat and even my kids scarfed it down. You could also substitute healthier sides or options with some of the meals. It would be difficult to screw up breakfast food, and for the price and quality of food at least a step up from IHOP, I’m a fan.

Nom! I love brunch! In particular, I love eggs. I could eat eggs at every meal and in every way, so places like The Egg and I are perfect for me. The food was good and the service very nice. I could probably eat every item on their menu(minus the ones that don’t fit my dietary restrictions). The food came quickly, fresh and hot. I really liked by crab benedict, but only reason this isn’t getting a 5 is because I’ve had better.

First visit and we wil go back! The Santa Fe skillet was very good… flavorful and filling. The green salsa was delicous! I would have asked for more salsa but kept eating it and it was just right to the last bite. The coffee was good, which seems to be hit or miss here in Lincoln, and they had quite a variety to choose from. I see some mediocre reviews but I think it is the more creative dishes that draw me. Extensive menu and good service. The price was consistant with the value of the meal and the quantity. We will go back and give some of the other items a try.

OK! Let me explain myself. This has quickly become my favorite breakfast location in Lincoln, plus I feel that this location tends to be a little better quality that their downtown location Every time I go, I make sure someone orders the apple cinnamon granola pancake. This is far and away the most consistently good pancake I’ve had in Lincoln. Normally, whole grain pancakes taste dry and have little to offer as far as flavor. But this pancake is different. It’s excellent to the very last bite and the cinnamon butter is out of site. Honestly, there’s no need for syrup with this bad boy. I’ve tried several of their egg dishes and am never disappointed. I enjoy egg-ceptional omelet best, but I have also had the Athena scramble, Colorado jack scramble, and the Greek frittata — all of which have been decent choices. The coffee is nothing special, but it reminds you that you’re in a chain diner and to enjoy the nostalgia of some of the mediocre qualities more traditional of a diner. The price can get up there if you let loose, which is all-too-easy to do at breakfast, but me and my date normally get out of the place for around $ 20-$ 25 w/tip.

LOVEIT!!! I LOVETHISPLACE. I love the food. I was living in Colorado when they had their first restuarant in Fort Collins and a friend took me there for my first treat of a life time. My personal favorite is the Stuffed French Toast. I just arrived here in Lincoln Nebraska and was delightfully surprised to see one here. After living in St Louis MO for 10 yrs and not having The Egg & I — I was very pleased to go in and have my favorite breakfast and it was superb!!! I just got off work(@6am) and am planning on treating myself to a great breakfast. THANKYOU«THEEGG& I»

Had breakfast here with a friend the other morning. We both ordered the usual breakfast food. He had biscuits and gravy and I had French toast. We both thought our meals were good, but not great. It is hard to screw up eggs and bacon, so those that I had were just fine. The French toast was pretty yummy, but nothing outstanding or special. My friend said he was pretty sure the gravy was from a can. Which is actually pretty lame considering how easy it is to make some pan gravy. We both agreed that we would come back to try some of the more non-traditional items on the menu. There were a lot of Mexican and Southwestern type dishes. Also a few different types of benedict that sounded promising. So all-in-all it’s a pretty typical breakfast/brunch place.

A new entrant in Lincoln’s sadly lackluster breakfast-restaurant market. It has the distinction of having coffee that isn’t vile, but that’s not to say the coffee is good.(The one breakfast place in Lincoln that has historically had decent coffee is the Terrace Grille at the Cornhusker, but their breakfast menu isn’t very varied.) The Egg and I has a fairly extensive menu, which is nice. Items are, to my eye, a bit expensive, often in the 8 – 10 range for breakfast. Perhaps this is just the new reality and I am not willing to adjust. I’d have to say that the price-to-portion ratio is decent, but the price-to-quality ratio is not really there, unfortunately. This is a place to have a decent breakfast with drinkable coffee — something that is mostly absent in Lincoln — but I’m not in a hurry to get back here.
