Runza is a must. Everything is made fresh and it’s delicious. The only bad thing is the quality of the actual runzas have gone down. The burgers are still delicious, as is the chicken.

I love Runzas. The new Philly Cheesesteak Runza is amazing. Great flavor. The cinnamon rolls are also great.

I just love Runza! Whenever I visited my grandparents in Lincoln when I was growing up, they always took me to Runza and now as an adult, whenever I come back to town, Runza is one of the first stops that I have to make. Granted there is a full fast food menu which includes burgers, fries and even chili in the winter time but I always have to go with the classic Runza! I’ll freely admit that nostalgia is a big part of why I like coming here so much. More than likely, someone who tries a Runza for the first time(especially after a big build up) will be slightly underwhelmed by this simple dough wrapped cabbage/meat conglomerate. But for someone who has enjoyed these for my entire life, Runza is just awesome and quite simply is the taste of Lincoln! I’ll come back every time I’m in town, no questions asked.

Never had Runza before, and I have to say it was awesome. The onion rings are really good, and not lacking in onions. The runza is also good, and a good change from the old fashion big mac.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah. That was my reaction when I first tried a Runza. And no, that’s not an orgasmic gaaaaaaaaaaaaah. I was new in town, but I had a friend I knew from way back who lives here, and she said I just had to have a Runza, being as they were founded in Lincoln and were supposedly very good. I usually trust her judgment; after eating here, not so much lol. The traditional Runza sandwich is basically a bun stuffed with steamed cabbage and diced onions. Some people might love it, apparently a lot do; me, not so much. Now, having said that, I do like their chicken tenders. Those are pretty good. But not good enough to make me a regular customer here.

I get a kick out of how much Nebraskans rave about Runza. I thought it was okay. I’m a light eater too, so it’s not something I would typically order. It’s basically a giant long roll filled with lots and lots of ground meat. I ordered their new Jalapeño Cheese Runza. It was HUGE. I can’t even imagine eating the whole thing. The meat filling was nothing extraordinary. Just ground beef with some cabbage and spices in it. The bread part was heavy and a little greasy. Overall, very heavy meal. Not a good place to go to maintain a girlish figure. Nebraska should get In N Out out there.

First thing I do every time I go home is get a mushroom and swiss runza at the first Runza I can fine. I know how to roll my own runzas, but jeebus that’s a lot of work and by god I love getting a runza without having to work for it. Awesome fries as well, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, just as the Lord intended. I wish we had these in eastern Iowa so badly…

Runza was alright, my wife’s co-workers said she had to try it, so she told me that I had too because I’m the more adventurous eater. To me it was basically a white castle burger in a hot dog bun. It was alright but not something I would drive out of my way for in NE not that there’s much else. I had Runza with cheese and frings.

Too bad we don’t have Runza’s in LA or OC. For all those who’ve never heard of it, you might think… what? But it’s a local comfort food that I really like. It’s been months since I was here in Lincoln while on a vacation to see friends. But on my final night here, I wanted a Runza and fries before driving to Omaha the next day. I had some bottled dark Paulaner beer to drink with it from the liquor store nearby for when I got back into the hotel room. I was here 5 years ago also, and remember everyone telling me to try one of these semi burgers. They’re to Lincoln what In N Out burgers are to So. CAL, they said. And they were kind of right(In N Out Burger has no fast food peer IMO). I remember then trying several different versions of this German inspired ground beef and cabbage sandwich. They were all a little different, but this chain’s version was fine and it was convenient. So five years later, I finally got to taste this again. It was near closing time, so I was lucky to get inside and ordered it to go. It was starting to rain. The runza and beer and I survived the 2 mile drive to the hotel in a rainy night. It smelled great in the car and hotel. So I finally open it up… The bun was soft, and the meat and cabbage were fresh tasting, still warm. With fries and dark beer, it was a simple but yummy way to satisfy my hunger. Hope to come back to this town again soon.

I went to Runza’s recently on a trip to Nebraska and was blown away. My girlfriend kept telling me that I have to try Runza’s burgers, that they were the best around, so I figured ok cool, its a resturaunt with great burgers. She never mentioned that it was a fast food place, and i never would have throught to ask. Since she kept talking about them having great burgers I just assumed this was a fancy sit down place. When we pulled up to a fast food place I was surprised and wasn’t expecting much. She ordered a burger and I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and we sat down to eat. I tried a bite of her burger and was pissed that I didn’t get one myself. The burgers were so good. I don’t know what flavoring they put in it, but whatever it is, I am glad they do. It tastes like they put pepper and some other seasonings in with the ground beef they make the burgers at, so the flavor goes throughout the whole thing. I was also surprised to find out that you can buy them frozen, when the person behind me in line came in and ordered 20 frozen and brought a cooler with her to fill it up with. The chicken sandwich was great and the fries were very good as well. I thought the burgers were so good though, I decided to get one to go and ate it as we left. What a pleasant surprise :)

These five stars go out to ANY and ALL Runzas in Nebraska. Why? The world’s greatest French Fries and the world’s greatest hamburger. I know that’s a lot to say, but it’s absolutely true. I’m not sure what it is about the Runza burger, but it’s got this peppery deliciousness that manages to melt in your mouth. The buns and the burgers and the toppings all together just make for heaven. Even the former boyfriend — a burger connoisseur said it was the best fast food burger he’d ever had. And the fries? Well, I just can’t say enough about them. They’re crinkle cut and the closest thing I can get in Chicago is at Portillos. This is one of those places that I always come home and go to. Not for the classic Runza sandwich, but for the original burger and fries. Oh Runza, I love and miss you!
