Staff make it quite pleasant for visitors.
However, this is a horrible place to be incarcerated. Over reliance on segregation, violence towards prisoners, long delays for medical treatment, and grossly inadequate mental health care combine to make this a place that should never be used to house anyone, let alone the thousands of severely traumatized women we send here every year.
