Great venue for a car show or any outdoor event. We of course we’re here for the Good Guys Day at the Hay. Great first shake down run for a just finished 54 Chev PU. Lots of early Hot Rods and friendly people. Lots of positive responses for our PU at the show, at the Hotel and on the streets around Lincoln and on the Highway coming from and going to Kansas. Of course it was hot but it’s summer and we were thrilled for a very few clouds and no hail.

Baseball games are a lot of fun here! There is different events during different weeks such as fireworks or discounted food. Prices are reasonable especially with the ticket prices. You can get VIP seating for not a bad price as well! It is not the biggest park, but it still is a lot of fun to go to a game! Especially with Homer the mascot wandering around keeping people engaged.

I had a great time taking my daughter to her first baseball game. She was thrilled to get to run the bases after the game, I tried to keep up with her and then got lectured by a staff member because I was obviously not a kid and«running the bases is only for kids 12 and younger» and I «should stay with her next time». Yes event staff lady, I sneaked my way onto the field and ran the bases just so I could high five Homer the Saltdog at home plate, the fact that my daughter was there with me was just the diversionary element of my plot. I applaud the excellent detective work, bravo! I really didn’t want to run the bases, I wanted to wait for my daughter at home plate and take a picture of her, but the staff told me to stay off the grass, meanwhile my daughter is half way to second base, so I trotted after her with a smile on my face, my bad. So note to parents, if you take your child on to the field to run the bases after the game you had better be sure that your child can’t outrun you, or you may get the TSA-treatment. This over-zealous staff member was the exception however, literally everyone else I encountered was pleasantly enjoying the great weather and the simple pleasure of the ball park on a summer evening. Now for the other 99% of my experience… If you like burgers you MUST try the Macaroni Bacon Burger! That was seriously the best burger I have had in years! My daughter enjoyed the game up until the third inning when she realized that the game was«just throwing and catching». Fortunately we had plenty to explore at the park including the Fun Zone, an area of the park with hitting and throwing games, plus a nice bouncy house with a slide. I was definitely surprised to see a basketball court with kids actively hooping it up during the game. The park itself is a big small park, it feels like a fancy neighborhood ball park and not a major league monolith. The players all feel close enough to chat with from nearly any seat in the ballpark. The presence of grassy berms near the«Fowl» poles adds to the neighborhood feel. It was quite a spectacle to see the kids mob poor Homer the Saltdog when he visited one of the berms late in the game. That is a patient and long-suffering dog, those kids wore him out! Overall I did have a good experience at Haymarket Park, but the memory was nonetheless soured by my run-in with the TSA agent, hence I am writing this review to rid myself of the unpleasant aftertaste.
