By the Bean

I grew up in Lincoln but live elsewhere. While home for the holidays, I stopped in at By the Bean on the courthouse square, and kept keeping back. Great coffee and ambiance, friendly baristas. Wifi too.
A true gem. So glad to see the growth of nice businesses in downtown Lincoln.

Great coffee shop. Stopped by on the way up to Wisconsin. They make a great espresso shot and related coffee drinks. Décor is nice. Definitely worth the detour if you want a great coffee.

GREAT COFFEE. When you’ve been traveling through small town Illinois and in other towns the only place to get coffee is the gas station then this place shows up on Unilocal — saved! Owner is very active with the town square revitalization as well. Lovely interior.

The quality and taste of their latte is unmatched. I used to love starbucks but this place ruined starbucks for me. The Chai latte is superb. They really seem to care about putting out a great product.

It is worth a stop off 55 to grab some coffee here. Great coffee and espresso, friendly staff and cute remodeled interior.

Very friendly staff, great coffee and good selection as well. When I went there were some people hanging out in there on pairs and by themselves (assuming theyw ere using WiFi) Perfect little coffee shop!

Great latte. I went opening week and they’re still trying to work out the kinks. Rest of menu looks great. Great atmosphere. They’ve done a great job remodeling the building.

Beautiful interior, old town square exterior. Coffee was delicious! There was an area with two large tables that would be great for meetings or group studying! I’m glad we stopped! :)

I didn’t see this place coming – there wasn’t anything online about it and it’s next door to another store that apparently used to sell bags and cups of coffee. When you pull into a (free) parking space on Lincoln’s town square and walk in the doors of By the Bean, you’re transported into a lovingly crafted coffee sanctuary that combines the quality of modern coffee-​making with the vibe of classic squarefront stores. The ambiance is excellent with a nice variety of seating arrangements and cool hardwood fixtures and floors.
Great selection of beans at the moment and though the drinks can take a bit of time, they’re well-​crafted. It’s not quite the ultimate hipster 3^rd wave coffee nirvanas of Wicker Park, but it’s pretty darn good and a great addition to Lincoln.
This would be the perfect place for college students to study and socialize or for professionals to get a bit of work done and visit with the friendly staff. Prices are moderate to high for a coffee place, but you get what you pay for.
