Awesome barber shop! I make it a point to go down there when I am in Detroit(quietly replaced Rex’s in Dearborn once Rex moved on and Hank retired). Whether you are an out of towner, a local, or live on the other side of town… Sal’s is worth any and all effort it takes to get there!

I went here on a Tuesday after being discouraged at BoRics down the street where the waiting room was full and the wait was 45 minutes. My son is 1.5 years old. He had his hair cut a couple months ago but it was getting a little long again and it’s starting to get hot! The first time I got it cut the woman from another salon charged me $ 25 and gave him a sloppy cut with scissors. What? Oh well. So, this time, I’m like… if the haircut is going to be shitty I might as well pay $ 15 at BoRics! But, like I said, the wait was 45 minutes… and 1.5 year olds don’t do well with long waits. So, we went to Sal’s. I’ve driven by the place over 9,000 times as it’s on the corner of my mom’s street. I went in and there are only three chairs there and still a waiting area full of people. Hmm. Ahead of me there was a 2 year old boy getting his haircut. The moment the man turned on his buzzer the kid screamed bloody murder and thrashed about. Not promising. I held tight to my guns though, and when it was our turn, we got the other guy! Thank jesus. He was an older man and cut hair in the chair furthest from the door. I didn’t catch his name. He gave my son a booster and put the cape on. He was so kind, gentle and patient. It seemed like he only turned on his tools when it was about to touch a piece of hair and not a nanosecond longer so as to keep my son relaxed and still. Instead of trying to force him to sit still, the man moved from one spot on my son’s head to whichever spot my son tilted in his direction. When it was all done, it was probably a little shorter than I would have chosen myself, but it’s growing on me…(ba dum chhhh) and anyway, it looks really cute and bonus! It will be longer until his next haircut ;) I recommend this place. Plus, with tip I think I paid $ 18. OH!!! It’s cash only. Don’t forget. Hit up the ATM on the way in.

They are the best place to get your hair cut. I have been going for about a year now(once a month) and it is great customer service every time. I get my hair cut and my beard trimmed down. They do everything you want and they have no problem doing it. They also make great conversations when you are getting your hair cut so it’s not that awkward silence like most places.

i have been going to Sal’s now for at least 5 yrs. Even though I’ve moved from Detroit to Ferndale I still go back. These guys have a great shop and are planning more updating to the shop. They are quick and get you in and out. They don’t charge extra for shaving the back of your neck which is what alot of guys like when getting their hair cut. Vito, Mark, and Marks bro(can’t remember name) greet you when you walk in. They remember your name and how you want your hair cut. If you like the old fashion straight razor shave, Mark’s bro can take of you. If you want it simple and want a good cut Sal’s the place
