The Met

This has been our local when visiting family and friends in Lima. The best beer list, terrific wine selection, great menu for a snack or a feast. Vegetarian options… Terrific staff who feel like family…
Highlights: shrimp tacos, flat bread pizzas, chicken Marsala, hamburgers, Quesadillas, bread pudding and much more.

Excellent meal. Delightful service from Sarah. I had the salmon; perfectly cooked on top of a bed of corn, rice, peppers and red quinoa. My companions had the filet which was cooked perfectly. The donut bread pudding was to die for.

This is our go-​to spot for date night. The décor is really neat. They have a nice bar and a wine rack with those old-​school library ladders that you can swing from one end of the bookshelf to the other. Lots of beer and wine selections. They have nice seasonal cocktails as well. The dining area has old repurposed radiators with high top tables resting on it. The menu is simple. We sometimes just get drinks and apps. The kitchen is pretty accommodating. They are willing to make vegetarian modifications on almost any dish. They also make a really yummy quinoa veggie grilled wrap. The flatbreads are great. Our favorite side is the gnocchi. It’s pretty filling.
It’s a classy dressy atmosphere without being stuffy. The staff is pretty friendly although we have had an instance when we have had to ask who our server was because no one came to take our drink orders.

This is such a great restaurant. I was in Lima, Ohio for a soccer tournament but I didn’t want to go to any regular «Olive Garden» for dinner. I found «The Met» here on Unilocal and decided to try it out. BEST. FOOD. EVER. I’m a vegan, and luckily they mentioned on their website that they had vegetarian and vegan options. Our server mentioned that there was a vegan wrap with spinach, quinoa, roasted red peppers, onions, and warm hummus in a wrap. I decided to try it and I was so glad I did. My dad had the Alsatian Flatbread. He said it was amazing as well. ⁵⁄₅ you have to try!

I wanted to really love this place. Sorry. The home of the most expensive 3 oz burger. The patty was a micro patty. Look at my pictures, a whole bunch of bun. Maybe it is a bun burger. On top of that, I ordered egg on top — no egg and extra bacon — I got nasty bacon bits. The bacon bits were hard as a rock. When questioned about these items, the sever just said really? Like I was joking or something.
Sad, the setting is nice and the location perfect. I suppose they have to live up to Lima standards, which means the bar is set really low.

The Service was phenomenal. We were just stopping by while on a long road trip and this was a very nice place to get a great meal.
My daughter was not crazy about the gnocchi and they took it off the bill. To me the food was absolutely amazing. I had a spinach salad without the bacon. Both of us loved the artichoke dip!
Try it! I definitely recommend stopping in.

Diamond in the rough! Cute date spot. Captured by the wine selection. Great cocktails and awesome food menu. Enjoyed the prosciutto wrapped chicken and a martini. Thumbs up!

Great menu, great drink selection, awesome service and staff, and the food is perfection. Can’t go wrong on a date night to the Met.

I absolutely love The Met! It’s such a great addition to Downtown Lima and has quickly become a favorite of mine. I’ve visited The Met for business lunches, happy hour, birthday dinners, just hanging out with friends, and New Year’s Eve and have always had an awesome time! The building is gorgeous, every member of the staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, the wine and craft beer menus are extensive and full of affordable finds, and the food is delicious! You literally can’t go wrong when choosing The Met or anything on their menu! I’ve tried many appetizers, dishes, and desserts and have loved everything.

I had a chance to grab lunch with my wife and daughter the other day and we were amazed at the quality and choices. My wife had the chicken salad sandwich and indicated that it was by far the best chicken salad sandwich she had ever had. The freshness of the chicken and the dressing complemented each other. The bread pudding is a must try if you stop The waitress did an awesome job of selling us on trying it. We were not disappointed. It’s made fresh everyday. The service and friendliness of the staff was over the top. This is a place to put on your must stop and return as often as possible

Happened to find myself in this small town as a fluke for work, just between Dayton and Columbus.
I am Avid Unilocal follower. I totally agree this may be the finest place in Lima. An old mining town that is just reviving.
As I entered was welcomed by staff, they had a wonderful bar in center a single person could pull up.
I was greeted and they found me a lovely Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Then asked about soups. Chose the tomato bisque which was thick and sweet with texture of chef boy r Dee, starchy. I stopped after second bite.
Staff was beyond amazing feeling every move they offered me something else… I said I would wait for entrée.
I ordered the scallops seared over daily risotto. I inquired about risotto and was told mushroom was daily risotto. Also asked since soup did not work out side of brussel sprouts. The risotto was tomato and onion, not mushroom like they told me and was dry as well as the scallops which had a fishy smell when delivered although tasted fine. Extremely small scallops for the price.
So the appetizer version of brussel sprouts boast feta cheese. Apparently the side of Brussel sprouts is exchanged for fried in bacon and lots of bacon pieces, if that is what you fancy it’s great. Taste wise was fine, I usually don’t like bacon mixed because it monopolizes flavor but I must admit brussel sprouts can hold their own flavor and was fine mix just a bit greasy.
The side was much better than the entrée.
I ordered apple crisp w ice cream… Fresh made stated on the menu said would take up to 20 mins because freshly made… Was so dry petrified although took less than 5 mins, had oatmeal topping, with Cinnamon ice cream seemed dry and over kill with Cinnamon.
The Met although maybe best spot in Lima… chefs could serve better quality as service staff and atmosphere was excellent.

Visiting a recently moved to the area friend. Wonderful little bistro. Pleasant staff and REALLY well put together concept. No rough edges as you might see when visiting one of the few bright spots in a small town. Would easily compete in much larger market. Great sammich with side salad. Donut bread pudding, while a little reach for a dyed in the wool bread pudding fan, wooed me with a wonderful custard — nice to split.

Went to the Met for the first time last night with my wife and a couple friends and we were very pleased. To sum it all up, the décor, ambiance, food, drinks and staff were excellent! I can’t wait to go back. Well done

Superb atmosphere, superb food, and awesome craft beer and wine selection. Had a chicken dish that was incredible!

To say that I was pleasantly surprised with this place would be an understatement. This wine bar in an elegant old building is sophisticated but unpretentious. Excellent wine selections and the prices are great — we enjoyed an outstanding $ 25 bottle of Chardonnay. The atmosphere is just the right mix of cool and casual. We weren’t starving so we ordered the cheese plate and the mussels. The cheese plate was as advertised — no issues with the freshness of the cheese, meats and crackers. The mussels were outstanding — fresh with a very flavorful broth that had a spicy kick at the finish — with plenty of crusty bread to sop up the broth. The key lime tart for dessert was just right — not too tart and not too sweet. I would have given 5 stars if not for the food taking a really long time to be served — but it was worth the 30 minute wait for a great meal and experience — we weren’t in any hurry anyway and I must say its denies slow down a bit and enjoy it even more. Definitely check this place out if you are in Lima — we will be back for sure!

The ambiance is not what I expected from Lima, Ohio. Small, but with an air of elegance. Servers were professional, yet casual.
I simply had a soup and salad. The veggie and rice soup was very satisfying and quite delicious. I just had their house salad (The Met), which had fresh greens and a great, light, creamy dressing.
Prices are higher than what I would expect for this town, but more than reasonable for the quality.

The Met is a great place to go for dinner and a glass of wine. Definitely one of the classiest spots in Lima. The staff is very knowledgeable and attentive. They always pay attention to detail. 5 stars.

We’ve been here several times both for dinner and for lunch and the service is a bit slow but the food certainly makes up for it! Delicious!

I can’t say ENOUGH amazing things about this place. Amazing food, amazing service. The manager and wait staff came up to talk to our table multiple times knowing we were from out of town. Incredible menu, beer and wine list and they even let us taste a new cocktail they were making up while we were there. On top of all of that our server saved the day and ran out with my credit card that I mistakenly left at the table. Check it out if you’re in town.

Delicious food! Great beer menu! I travel often for work and this is one of the best places you would find anywhere. Friendly waitstaff, kitchen staff, bartenders, etc. great bang for your buck if you are looking for great food.
