This gelato really represents the Island well. I wanted to have a sweet taste of Kauai and this was just the ticket. I had the signature flavor – Papalani Pie – a hint of espresso, a hint of coconut, a hint of macadamia and just the right mix of chocolate. It was a piece of heaven in a cup.

So I’m a total coffee snob and was looking for a latte from Starbucks when the tour guide suggested this place! Oh my!!! They made my french vanilla latte with Madagascar gelato, and I was hooked! The service was also amazing, so of course I returned for a second one in the same day!!! They need one of these in Denver!!!

This ice-cream shop is located at a small shopping plaza not too far away from my hotel. According to the sign, they use local fruits to make their Gelato. They offer approximately 10 flavors to choose from and I picked the coconut dark chocolate flavor in a small size cup. It has just the right amount of sweet. I wouldn’t say it was spectacular but it is definitely worth a try. Service is excellence.

5 stars for great gelato and great service! Went here last night, seen a long line so my husband and I had to check it out. Lived on Kauai my whole life and never had gelato! I got the peanut butter explosion and he got the Belgian chocolate with saltpond! They were all so delicious! I did feel bad for the young lady working because of how busy it was but she was so sweet and kept a smile on the whole time! Will I come back here again! Most definitely! Thumps up papalani gelatos!

Do yourself a favor and pay this gelateria a visit when you are in Kauai. The selection here is great, and they use signature Hawaiian flavors in many of their recipes. You can select up to two flavors for a small cup, and three for a large, which was nice since variety is the very spice of life! I got Papalani Pie since I figured whichever flavor that had the name of the place in it had to be good, and I was right. Delicious mix of espresso, chocolate sauce, coconute crunch, and macadamia nut. For my other flavor I got Belgian Chocolate and it was SO creamy. They are located right next to Kalapaki beach, which makes it convenient for when you’re craving something cool after a full beach day.

This was so good on a hot day, especially after eating at Kalapaki Joe’s, the sweet tooth kicked in. We had friends just arrive at the airport and we took them there. There were so many flavors to chose from. I had the macnut ice cream with fudge and macnut pieces. It was so smooth and so good! My daughter got a one scoop of the mint and she loved it. The girl behind the counter asked if I wanted to do the Keiki Size, which was cheaper and came with free sprinkles. My kid LOVES sprinkles, so it worked out great. The service was great. The girls behind the counter were very nice and patient with us since we all were so indecisive. We got kama’aina discount since we live here which was very nice of them. They even gave a discount to our friends visiting since I was with them. Definitely worth coming back to. Not one bad thing to Unilocal about.

As a visitor from Oahu, we were stoked to find a spot in Kauai to satisfy our sweet-tooth in the unique way that only gelato or sorbet can. Classic flavor mixes as well as Local-inspired tropical flavors that are sure to keep the whole group happy. Not too cheap, but you really don’t need that much gelato to hit the spot. Strawberry-Guava sorbet was tangy and thirst-quenching.

I almost missed my flight back to Chicago because I had to make a gelato detour. The truth of the matter is, if I would have missed it, I wouldn’t have been regretful because Papalani Gelato was THATGOOD. My husband and I had the pleasure of having some of their salt pond gelato at a restaurant a couple nights prior in Kapaa. Our enjoyment of the butterscotch flavor and creamy gelato goodness was so apparent that our waiter was kind enough to tell us about a nearby location where we could sample more. When we visited the store front we sampled many flavors and all of them were fantastic. My favorite was the pumpkin seasonal. Bottom line is that this is a must stop destination on Kauai. I will definitely be back!

The owner of this place is the worst person I had to deal with in Hawaii. Didn’t get a chance to try any their products, just got yelled at for sitting at one of her two empty tables, on Christmas morning. Grinch! In the future, why not invite you visitors to try one of your coffees or other products? Serving a big bowl of Stink Eye as your first move misses opportunities for sales.
