I have been meaning to go to Kauai nursery but had the chance to visit there last minute boo :( I realized that I might need an entire day just to go over their entire landscape of various flora. I bought Plumeria from them and the person who helped me with choosing the stem and instructions on how to take care of the plant was very helpful. He took time to answer all my questions and concerns. It was wonderful having business with them. Hope my plummies grow well in sunny California :-)

This is a very large nursery for sure, but they are lacking in quality and the prices seemed a bit steep for what you get. I feel like it’s the ‘Walmart’ nursery, just crank out plants and make a profit. The employees while generally helpful have no passion for plants, it’s just another day at their job… I did end up buying a few hibiscus’, one in particular that was very striking, it was untagged and I still dont know what type it is after asking 6 employees if they knew???(tho no such confusssion on the price!) All in all, it’s ho hum. If you’re visiting the island and want to see beautiful plants of Hawaii or you just love plants and want to visit with other people who share your passion I would recommend driving to Kilauea and visiting Kauai Seascapes Nurery, you’ll be happy you did.

This clean, organized and covered nursery has an entire third or so of its selection that has been pre-certified for shipping/travel off the island. In visits over two consecutive days, the staff were more than friendly, happy to answer questions about the care and transportation of its plants and flowers, clearly had plants of their own and were able to speak about the care of the plants from experience. The selection of orchids was refreshingly unique and not quite what I normally find in stores in the continental U.S., and prices for these orchids were comparable to what I see for more common Phalaeonopsis orchids in the continental U.S.(in other words, felt like I was buying more rare orchids for cheaper than in the U.S., but I don’t buy a whole lot of orchids!). Plants can be shipped for a flat rate(as many a you can fit in a box) via FedEx two-day air. Certified and bagged cuttings of plants are also available for purchase(easier for travel). I haven’t ordered/shipped flowers from anywhere else, but I can’t say I was thrilled with the state of my plants when they arrived — one of my flower stems was broken. Perhaps this is just a hazard of packing and shipping a flowering plant, but I wasn’t thrilled…
