Famous Footwear

It’s kinda eh. I can never find anything I really like. Once in a great while. But of course, it’s not really on sale or its boots during the «winter» here on Kauai. Converse and Nike’s are usually a go to if necessary.
The staff is friendly. And the service is good. And they offer a Famous Footwear card to get savings.

I don’t like Famous Footwear. They don’t really have what I’m looking for ever. The workers are always friendly and helpful, but I just don’t like this store. Since there aren’t many options on the island, I came in looking for running shoes. I mean, they have some, but I didn’t find anything I liked… I don’t know.

It’s rare to walk into a shoe store and have no intention of getting anything for myself. However, I was on a deadline and a mission so I had to stick to what I was there for and shoes for me was not one of my tasks. Plus I had the baby with me and I didn’t want to subject her to shoe shopping with mommy… yet.
I was there for work boots for the hubby. Specifically those with no steel toes. Do you know how hard it is to find work boots that DON’T have steel toes? It’s pretty hard. There’s usually a limited selection. I was pleasantly surprised to find quite a few options in various price points to choose from. Roughly $ 75 later, I successfully purchased a pair of Caterpillar work boots sans steel toe. The one gripe I had with the store was that, although it was clean and well organized, I could have used the assistance of a salesperson prior to checkout and inexplicably no one came to my aid despite the store being nearly empty. At least my questions were answered at the register and I felt confident I was making the right purchase. I’ll probably come back for myself at some point and, having noticed the selection of children’s shoes, for the baby.

Maybe I’ve become pickier over the years, but after perusing through the entire women’s selection of shoes in the store, I didn’t find one item that caught my eye. And I’m a total shoe addict! Maybe I just came on the wrong day at the wrong time, but I think they could add in more shoes of a higher quality which would probably bring in more sales for the store. Sadly the store looked pretty empty this morning.
It’s pretty rare for this shoe addict to not walk out with a pair or two or even seem a bit interested in trying on anything.
