Bought a Dell that had great specs. Ordered it online, which I won’t do again. OD’s delivery service kept missing attempted deliveries. I went to the store to correct a problem(the machine was DOA) and the manager Jackie helped me with my problem. I would definitely buy from this store, and not online again. The store is a little small however and doesn’t carry a very wide selection of merchandise — my only complaint.

Office Depot, realm of blue-shirted employees helping the less tech-savvy of us with questions of design, layout, printing and also the location of various print cartridges, weekly organizers and printer paper. I have had variously good and not so good experiences at this Office Depot. Most recently I was pleased by the quick and effective printing and cutting job that I needed done. At times I have felt stuck at the mercy of the print department employees, waiting for my phone to ring and notify me that my job has been completed. At least, most times, there are enough employees that I can speak with someone relatively quickly.

For the sake of full disclosure, I worked here for three years and I’m comparing OD now to OD when I was there, at which time it was a five-star store. This store has changed a lot in the last ten years. Some good, some not. I feel that the quality of customer service at this store has suffered a great deal in the last three years(especially considering it used to be a manager training store — an honor reserved for only the best ODs.) The quality of merchandise has increased a lot, but that’s an OD-wide change. Also, the layout and opennes(no more canyons of boxes) is nice. OD is, generally better than Office Max(again, I worked at this store), and Store 288 is definitely still better than the Office Max nearby. This store is probably the best bet in the Vernon Hills area for office supplies.
