Love hansa coffee! Excellent quality drinks, unique menu, and very talented baristas make this local coffee shop a weekday morning must.

I love this place. It’s dog-friendly and human friendly. The coffee is awesome and the environment is clever and eclectic. During the summer, the outside of the storefront is a garage that can open up and allow in the fresh air. This place is fun and enjoyable. I will be going back often.

Far and away the best coffee joint in the area. Great selection of beans and they roast on site. The staff is excellent and the baked goods are unique and delicious. Only suggestion, the back room could be better. I’m fine with eclectic but this is just not comfortable or interesting. Get someone to put a mural or graffiti on that white wall!

I’ve lived my entire life in coffee shops, starting at about 12 years old. To me, a good coffee shop is a gathering place — where strangers become friends, great conversation is had among people from all walks of life — and unlike other sorts of gathering places, quality of interaction is is unencumbered by alcohol. I’ve moved around quite a lot over the years to places where I knew not a single soul, and I’ve found certain kinds of coffee shops the best resources for meeting people in a new town. This is one of those coffee shops. I should also mention that the coffee is fantastic, the employees and owner are welcoming, there is a wonderful open space to lounge, do your studying(plenty of outlets for your portable devices), or whatever else strikes your fancy. Also, good music. If you don’t like Hansa… never mind, you will.

Hands down the best latte I’ve ever had in my life. Starbucks hasn’t got shit on these guys! I grew up in Libertyville and grew up down the road from this place. So cool that it used to be my friends car shop. To see all the old bay doors open on a pretty day and the people on their computers or reading books was pretty cool. The baristas are young friendly guys. They smiled and helped us right away. They grind the beans fresh with every cup. That right there is amazing. I got an amazing little heart in the froth of my pumpkin spice latte and upon tasting it immediately regretted not getting a larger cup! My mom said the same for her Chai tea latte. It saddens me that I live 1000 miles away from this place but it has become something I think I will do every time I visit home!

I’ve been a fan of this place for a while. I figured it couldn’t hurt to give a second critic’s look at this business. What would a café be without the beans? Here, the beans carry the day. Roasted on premises, fresh, deep, steeped in richness. The baristas greet you with a friendly hello and see ya when leaving. Importantly, you may notice a deliberate, slight delay in delivery of your latte. The creation of the cup takes focus and they focus for that moment to deliver a very satisfying brew. The patterns on the latte confirm the through and through artistry. So the slight delay brings a great result. It allows for a smile and how’s your day going. Come back with some regularity and you recognize them and they you. The conversation becomes layered with bits of detail – a concert, a water-soaked apartment – you get the idea. Artists pleasantly at work. Still.

A little disappointed in my first visit to Hansa. I was so stoked to find an independent coffee shop in the burbs based on the rave Unilocal reviews I read. Here’s what I liked and didn’t like about it. Pros –local coffee shop with in house roasting –cute eclectic décor and relaxed atmosphere –pretty coffee art in my latte and a decent latte as well Cons –I ordered a honey latte and I got a regular latte instead –The girl that rang us up was not friendly at all I’d give Hansa another try if I was in the area and hope to have a better experience.
