Amazing, amazing, amazing! Best Thai we have ever had! Fresh and tasty. Wonderful staff and willing to explain and accommodate, if needed. Highly recommend you stop by, you will not be disappointed. Even the kids loved it!

Portion size was a bit small but the food was very good; however, this place has some of the best curry I’ve ever had! Started off with the chicken skewers and a specialty salad, 2 different curries and finished it off with the amazing coconut ice cream. Not many places like this around here, just wish You got more«bang» for your buck here. I will be back though, thank you!

The best Thai food outside Thailand! Quaint, small, family type of place. Come for the amazing food and great service, and come back often — don’t foget to say hi to Doug too!

Delicious, traditional Thai food. I can’t wait to go back. But be forwarned, do not go if in a hurry. The service is quite slow but then again it’s a new establishment.

Hungry on the road? Looking for that perfect out of the way place? Then you’ve found it! Sweet Basil has the picturesque small town feel, with that delectable big town flavor. Seriously the best sort of unexpected find.

Sweet Basil has some sweet food but the service and the atmosphere are totally lacking. I have eaten here twice. I had the red curry and the Pad Seu. Both dishes were quite good. The first time we visited, the owner took the order, and trust me, he can own a restaurant but he doesn’t have a clue about taking orders. Totally messed up the order. The second time, the food came like 45 minutes later(and the couple next to me got their food at the same time though they had come in 15 minutes before me). It was not like the place was busy either. The girl taking the orders was sweet and tried her best, but it seems like the cook is overwhelmed cooking for the 10 people in the joint. Maybe she needs some more help in the kitchen! The atmosphere is like«shreek desolate». The outside looks like a ghetto. Please fix that fence, paint the place, and put up some alluring decorations. The inside is as it was 20 years ago as 19 John Street but like a bit run down. My hope is that they fix the place up and find a way to get the orders out in a reasonable amount of time because the food is good. So, go there for the food. Don’t go there for the atmosphere or if you have anywhere to be in the next hour or so!

The food was amazing. Just amazing. I started with pork satay and it was so good I wanted to lick the plate. I would have if I had a little more wine. I followed with green curry shrimp. I moaned as I ate it –it was that good. Dessert was homemade coconut ice cream. I don’t even like ice cream but I had to try it and wow; I could become a fan of ice cream. I have had Thai food in many of the major cities and this was the best. I loved the informal coziness of the place. I never felt rushed or like I had to leave soon as I was done. It was nice to linger over a meal. Doug the waiter/host/cashier was also a treat. He was personable, real and friendly. Kinda made you wanta give Doug a hug. Have dinner or lunch here you will not regret it.

Ok… I love food. In fact, I’m obsessed with it. When I travel, the first thing I do is research where to eat. So we decided to try sweet basil in liberty. Wow… I was blown away. We ordered fresh spring rolls, chicken satay, pad Thai, pad se ew, and for dessert sticky rice with mango. All courses were superb. I mean ridiculously superb. The chicken satay was moist and perfect, drizzled with a light coconut sauce and the peanut sauce was unreal. I could go on about every course, but I’m just going to say all were mind blowing. The owners were very friendly and extremely nice. Come here. You won’t be disappointed.

For the Catskills I give this 5 stars. In all of New York probably 3.5. Food was excellent. I had the non-fried spring rolls. The taste was delicious but they could have been wrapped tighter. I go two Thai iced teas throughout the meal. Very good. Thai salad was good but not amazing. My main dish was the best, green curry with chicken. The flavor is as good as some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten(a great little place in San Francisco by the wharf). It was so good that I ate part of it and I brought the rest home to enjoy. I will be eating at this place a lot!
