A «quick stop» turned into a 3 hour visit! We decided to have lunch after the free vineyard tour and our wine tasting. There was no problem getting a seat even without a reservation, granted it was a Tuesday. The food was very good and worth the extra cash in my opinion. I had the Seasonal salad with chicken and my boyfriend had the Bistro Burger with sweet potato fries. The wait was a little long but our waitress was very polite and apologized for the wait. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the salad was big. The burger was also cooked perfectly and was amazing. Sweet potato fries were good but come with sugar on them which we didn’t mind but some might. Beautiful view of the vineyards from any seat. Would love to go back.

Visited Childress Vineyards yesterday and stopped in the Bistro for lunch. They offer a nice three course meal(«the«Trifecta») paired with wine for $ 25 per person — sounded good, so we were in. Menu for this week is House Made Hummus with their classic white followed by a seared airline chicken breast with sangiovese and then minted grapes with a blush. The hummus was okay for me, but Katie really dug hers. It was a tad oily and I wasn’t a huge fan of the dusting of chili powder on top. The white was semi-sweet and complimented the hummus nicely. The main course was superb. The chicken was moist and delicious and the capers, olives and tomatoes complimented it perfectly. The roasted potatoes were delicious and seasoned very well. I wish they made this dish a stand alone order, because I would happily get it again. Childress’ sangiovese was very good and worked well with the chicken. The dessert was simply odd. The folks at the table next to ours were looking when we received the minted grape desserts, and openly laughed at Katie’s expression after she took her first bite. Minted crème was poured over fresh, crisp grapes and topped with crumbled sugar cookie. The grapes were perfect, but the minted crème was far too strong and simply overpowered the grapes and didn’t work together at all. One of the very few times I’ve ever not finished my dessert. The blush was okay, just a hair to sweet for my taste. It did work well to drown out the odd taste of mint and grape.

We had soup, sandwiches and salads, all of which were OK, if a bit over-priced. The server did not realize she had our table, and no one even looked at us for at least 10 minutes after we were seated. Once we finally got someone’s attention, the service was OK. The reason to go is the views, which are lovely in three seasons on the enclosed porch with big, sliding-glass windows, but not so great in January.
