Food is obviously very good, but that is not unique to this place; this place has caring servers, gentleman owner, and a great location! prices are reasonable and portions are good size. Very happy with this place and hope they realize that owners and their behavior is the unique selling point for this restaurant! :)

The. Best. Indian. Food. My favorite is the chicken tikka masala. Chicken is tender and the sauce is divine. Most things can be ordered from a range of spiciness to suit your preferences. The Kashmir naan is my favorite– but they are all good. My only complaint is that it’s nearly impossible to get a table during typical dining hours because the place is so tiny. Takeout is just as good.

I have to say that I had one of the best Indian meal ever here. The sauces had a wonderful taste with a great combination of spices to create the unique flavor. The gentleman who runs the restaurant was very friendly and best of all when the place became full he walked outside to give the waiting people a free yogurt drink which is not seen at many places. I highly recommend this restaurant. One of my favorite places to dine Indian.

The restaurant was busy — we were last here a few months ago and return as it is near where we live. The Boston area has a spate of Indian restaurants, mostly in memorable, and this one serves decent food. We shared a masala dosa(good), followed by chicken tikka(reasonable but pieces too large), dal maharani(disappointing), palak paneer(good), lamb korma(the best dish), accompanied by naan and rice, and Indian beers. The place is lowly, the décor old fashioned Indian and the service friendly though somewhat chaotic. It probably deserves 3 ½ stars for the food. The bill for four of us was just over $ 100 with drinks but no desert — so it’s good value, leaving us leftovers for the next day as well. We will continue to patronize the restaurant.

This place was sooo good! I would definitely come back again! I love the fact that it’s so close to my work place lol I would definitely order out everyday but my bank account would become zeros but anyways I would recommend this place. Order the tiki masala and garlic nan

Our office moved to this area very recently and I have been scouting for good food around. I went there for the first time with a colleague and we both were unhappy with the food. We ordered chilli chicken, nizami biryani and nan bread. The Nan was really good, chilli chicken could have been good if it was prepared a little better and if the chicken would have been good. The biryani was a complete waste. Once again I am not sure how this restaurant gets such reviews which is what drove the two of us yesterday, yes Friday for lunch. We both came to the conclusion that we will never ever visit this restaurant for lunch, we both will continue to scout around since we just happen to be foodies :)

Delicious! Very authentic India cuisine! Some of the best I’ve had in a very long time. Looks like I’ll be coming here more often

Very mediocre food. Had the thali on a Saturday. Naan was pretty thick and tasteless. Palak paneer was good. All others lacked flavor. Not worth a visit. Avoid. Better places elsewhere.

Went based on the very positive reviews on here. It was OK, but only OK… I see lots of comments about authenticity too, but that would be a stretch. As a Brit, I’d describe it as good-for-American Indian food — under-sauced, under-blended spices, under-braised lamb in the lamb dish we had. I’d go back, but not with high expectations.

Went her with some friends on a Thursday night, and it was quite busy we got the last table for four and I think there was only one table for two left. It’s a fairly small and cramped restaurant with tables close together and hardly much room on the tables when the food arrives. We were sitting right next to the counter so it was very noisy and it felt like the girl taking orders over the phone was sitting at our table it was that loud. We got a mixed appetiser, a vegetable appetiser, 2 lamb dosa, keema curry, palak paneer and chicken tikka and some naan. The reason I’m giving 3 stars is because not one thing was great, nothing was bad either though. Just average and ok. The appetisers had a variety of samosa, onion batik, battered fried chicken and a fried cheese thing– no stand outs. The dosa crêpe was good but the filling bland, the coconut sauce livened it up a little. The keema curry was probably the best thing, stronger flavour and we all liked it. The palak premier was good and creamy texture. The chicken tikka though… not at all what any of us expected, or ever had before. It was grilled chicken(without the yogurt and spice coating) served on a hot plate with a tandoor sauce to put on over the top. Not a fan of this dish. We ordered two plain naan and ended up with two garlic as well which we didn’t want(and were charged for on the bill) I wouldn’t say don’t go, because the food is ok the service is ok — expect a noisy evening with decent but not spectacular food.

A real find in Lexington. We were promptly welcomed and served water. The waiter, after giving us time to peruse the menu, approached to see if we had any questions and/or would like additional drinks or appetizers. We declined. For lunch we ordered the Lamb Josh Rogan and the Chicken Tikka Marsala. The waiter suggested Naan. He went over several choices we were aware of. One we were not, Raisin and cashew and coconut Naan. We had to try it. Our meal was excellent and the Naan was exceptional. Service was excellent and timely throughout our meal. If we visit this area again we would definitely return.

Very good Dosa … we got an order as appetizer, but my colleague had to take half the order home. Our lamb and shrimp dishes were good, but seemed a little toned down to American taste. Next time I will make sure that they know that I can handle and enjoy very high levels of spicy. Royal India Bistro was tasty, but not spicy. A great deal and nice that it is close to the Minuteman Bike Path so I can work off the extra calories.

Pretty mediocre food and service. We had Aloo palak(spinach with potato) and fish curry. Both dishes were pretty bland. The garlic naan was undercooked. The papadum was soggy. We were motioned to sit at a dirty table and then the guy who came over to clean it sprayed cleaning solution all over us.(Seriously this happened!). They forgot to bring my drink and acted like they were doing me a huge favor by not putting it on the bill.

This place was one of the great gems of the Lexington area. I ordered a chicken kabob as an appetizer, with the mix tandoori grill as the entrée. The spices, sauces, naan and basmati rice made this a high-value meal, since it cost me maybe $ 25 for all of this. To top it off, we had great service and a hot towel to clean up.

Royal India Bistro Overall 4⁄5 Food 5⁄5 Service 2⁄5 Atmosphere 3⁄5 This place is located nearer to the perimeter of the heart of town and only offers street parking. The food here is northern India, extremely traditional and well made. Atmosphere: You are greeted with two separate doors. After the initial entrance you have another that is «blocked off» by a curtain. Upon entering you could tell it’s a bit tight packed and small. It gives off a sense of traditional Indian culture and homey style feeling though. Its great for a family/friend gather and ok date spot(not for first dates). Since a lot of people take out you see a lot of people running back and forth. Service: The service here is poor. I had to wait 10 mins for my water and another 10 mins just to order with the server having limited knowledge and an unfriendly attitude. Ill admit I came here on a busy night with them having a lot of take outs but it got to the point where I had to ask for water 3 times before they would come. The food took about 15 mins after ordering. Food: This place comes with free bread like chip and spicy dipping sauce. Overall it was good and woke up my palate. I ordered the butter chicken and my mom ordered the vegetarian palk paneer. The butter chicken was decently spicy, rich and jammed packed with flavor. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had generous portions. The vegetarian palk paneer, was perfectly balanced between the spices, heat and saltiness. I would be happy eating vegetarian if I came here. Both entrees came with two small bowls of rice. If you want more you need to pay which is the only down side im willing to overlook because how good the entrees were. The price here is fair, meaning it’s a bit pricier but you get a huge portion of the quality made entrée. Overall this is prob my number 3 Indian food place. Its good and I would be willing to go vegetarian here. However given the service, Im not sure if I would make the extra effort to come here if Im not close. Perhaps a take out would be more appropriate. Cheers!

Royal India was a delight in Lexington. We got lucky and were able to find this place not very busy on Patriot’s Weekend. I think it’s pretty patriotic to sample some cuisine from one of our wonderful immigrant communities! I love Indian food and was happy with the service, ambiance, and food here. We had some standards like palak paneer and lamb korma along with garlic naan and cheese naan. All were very good. If I’m in the area again, I would definitely return.

You should not have any problems finding this delightful place — just follow the aroma in the air once you are in the vicinity. This is a cozy, smallish establishment which is really popular so make sure you call ahead and reserve. I walked in on Thursday evening around 5:30 pm and they were 60% full and were packed by 6:00 pm. The lentil crisps(papadum) were freshly made and cooked at the right temperature for the right amount. That was a good sign for the things to come. Since I was alone, I did not go nuts with my order. Tandoori roti, cauliflower+potatoes, Raita, and Mango Lassi. Perfecto! Raita was a tad salty but the rest was a delight. Mango lassi is a MUSTHAVE here. Their tandoori roti was also near perfect. Cauliflower + potatoes were not the best and you can do better with creamier entries like Mattar Paneer or Palak Paneer. As I said the place really packs up — so as a single dining patron that day, they accommodated me using a «jumper» table. In other words, they did not want to block a table for four for a single person and squeezed a small table between two other larger tables for me. Felt a bit awkward but can understand their logic. Street Parking with some metered spots and the streets around have a two hour limit. They are open for early dinner; in fact, they are open 11:30 am to 9:30 pm Sunday-Thursday and are open 11:30 am to 10:00 pm on Friday and Saturday.

Unilocal led me to another wonderful place. My mom and I had dinner here last night solely based on the great Unilocal reviews and we were not disappointed. The food was flavorful and delicious. The presentation was lovely. The service was pretty good, not the best but nothing to complain about. Finding friendly service at Indian restaurants seems to be rare, not sure if it’s a cultural thing? We started off with our usual Cheese Pakoras and Aloo Chat Papri as appetizers. Both were SO good we didn’t leave a bite behind. The pakoras were perfectly fried, not at all greasy. The Aloo had wonderful flavor and the crisps were crunchy and delicious. I had the Butter Chicken which was perfect and such a huge serving I was able to have it again for lunch this afternoon. My mom had the Lamb Dopiazza which she thoroughly enjoyed and also had some to take home. The Mango Lassi was good but I prefer mine on ice. Overall we had a fabulous time and will be back very soon!
