Yummy yummy in my tummy! I was fortunate enough to spot the Unilocal reviews of this place while my colleague and I were driving from Durham to Charlotte. I had never tried NC style BBQ in its natural habitat so why not? We stopped by during the late lunch hour and it was bumpin! We were told to sit wherever we liked and there were a decent amount of available tables in the back room. Our waitress Bridget(spelling?) showed up and could tell we were not from the area. She was so nice and told us about the menu… When I say she told us about the menu I mean that she took us on a sampler tasting of the menu! She sure knows how to make a girl feel welcome! She brought us an assortment of items to try: two different slaws(white aka«Yankee style» and red), chopped meat, sweet tea and… CHEERWINE! Okay fine, if you are from the south and drink Cheerwine then it is no big deal to you, but for a couple of Cali girls it was life changing. We ordered a meat plate and a sandwich and all of the food was delicious and made me understand why people rave about southern food. Bridget made me a chopped meat sandwich on a roll which is what I totally wanted but was not on the menu… how awesome is that? How have I not yet talked about the hush puppies!!! I have had them a couple times in Georgia but they were greasy so I was hesitant to try them again… So happy Bridget recommended them because they were super delicious! Crispy and not greasy– my kind of yumminess! I can’t wait to get back to this fabulous restaurant and all the yumminess it provides… Thank you for an amazing meal and some fantastic Southern hospitality!

Old down home BBQ joint and community center. I avoid the big to-do chain BBQ places and head straight for the little out-of-the-way hole-in-the-wall BBQ joints. Lexington Style Trimmins fits the bill to a T. I stopped in here because every damned time I’m driving through Lexington the big name in town is closed.(I wonder if they ever really open for business?) I’m so glad I stopped here for my first taste of Lexington. Lexington Style cuts through all the noise and just gives you what you came for: really well done vinegar-based NCBBQ. BUT! It’s not drenched in vinegar like other places I’ve eaten, it is very delicately understated and it actually helps the flavor of the sandwich rather than drown it out. The hush puppies were awesome and crispy the way I like them, although there was a sweet flavor to them that I couldn’t quite pinpoint. I loved them. They also have other menu items like burgers and hot dogs, so it’s not strictly a BBQ menu; everyone should find something they like. Desserts, too, like pecan pie. I got my BBQ sandwich+slaw and hush puppy plate in about 4 minutes, very rapid service, but it was mid-afternoon and I was the only customer there when I walked in. The folks who work here take their Q very seriously and are woven into fabric of the town. People stop by just to say high or pick up a meal, so it really feels like home with no pretense. I’m putting this on my must-stop itinerary any time I’m within 50 miles of Lexington.

Driving up 85 and GPS brought us to this the first BBQ place we came to in Lexington. Service was good, sweet southern hospitality greeted at the door and got us menus. Standard NCBBQ Fare on the menu. Order the dinner plate Chopped. The food came out too quick if that is possible. I felt a little rushed. BBQ was good, slaw was good, French Fries were krinkle cut frozen and the hush puppies were a little over done. Food was also served on less then high quality paper plate. Price was very reasonalbe. Overall I would say it was a «good» value, but with a couple of tweaks it could be a great value.

Classic North Carolina barbecue joint — an absolute dive, with a gravel parking lot — small, worn looking, inside and out, tables and chairs may date back yo WWII. But they serve some pretty darn good Lexington style chopped barbecue — moist, tender, with good flavor, moderately chopped. It comes out of the kitchen fairly moist, so I would ask for very little slaw, or avoid it all together on a sandwich. The moist barbecue and the slaw(the red, Lexington style slaw) will destroy the bun before the sandwich is finished. Obviously not a problem with a tray or plate. They also serve a really good chili dog here. The chili is thick, meaty, with a nice taste. Wiener is the typical Southern type, of questionable parentage, but works well with the chili. Did try their made in house Pimento Cheese — bit too sweet for me. Service was a touch slow, they are definitely not overstaffed. Don’t know about the rest of their menu, I just came for the barbecue and the chili dog. I’ll be back for those.

This is an overlooked BBQ joint That’s well worth the visit. Not only is the BBQ good, on certain days you can get a dang good plate of chicken pie. Or put your order in for a whole pie. I’d put their brown slice sandwich with any Q-resturant in town. Don’t expect a lot of frills, this is an old style BBQ place of some 50 yrs old. I go for the food, the good service and their Hush Puppies made fresh every day. So many resturant’s have left this trait behind. A good Q-sandwich, killer chesse burger, good hot dogs, A hamburger steak smothered in onion’s or green peppers or both is a meal. They also make a good piminto cheese you can take home or have a toasted sandwich, plus they sell their slaw from 1\2 pints to 4 gallons, All in all a good deal for the money…
