A friend and I purchased Groupons for our kids this past summer, and I wished I had checked Unilocal reviews first!
Granted, the Groupon was a good deal, but what was supposed to be a week-​long themed, instructive camp turned out to be an open play session with little supervision provided by high school/​college-​aged students. My kids learned nothing during this week! If that’s what it’s going to be, fine, but it should be advertised as such.
Ever day I’d ask my kids what they had done and they’d say they just played — that’s it. According to my kids, no one ever tried to instruct them in any way. My daughter told me there were a lot of kids with only a few «instructors» to monitor them. And my friend’s son (8 years old) was yelled at by one of the instructors and he was so upset, he asked not to return to the camp. I guess the «instructors» were overwhelmed, but if that was the case, there should have been a cut-​off for the number of summer camp registrants.
Upon registration our kids were supposed to receive camp shirts (we were encouraged to purchase them to make it easier for the kids to be identified should the kids go out on a field trip). As it turned out, the kids’ shirt sizes weren’t in stock (kids’ sizes small and medium), but I was told they’d receive them in a few days.
Needless to say, the shirts never arrived. When the camp was over, I inquired about the shirts numerous times and was finally promised they’d be mailed to me. Two months later, I continued to call and leave voice mail messages (it really wasn’t about the shirts as it was the principle of the matter) and finally, after FOUR MONTHS (no joke), the shirts came in the mail with no note, no apology.
Again, not saying this is a house of horrors, but it seemed very disorganized and, in hindsight, wasn’t worth the money we spent. We definitely won’t be purchasing a Groupon from them again.
