We used Carpet Solutions on the recommendation of a fellow contractor to fulfill an insurance claim. The carpet we had in our house was 15 years old and had held up over the years very very well and had only recently begun to show signs of wear. When we had water damage our insurance company said to have the carpet replaced with the same quality carpet as was currently in our house. We went to Carpet solutions with a swatch of our carpet, indicated it was an insurance claim and we needed the same carpet installed. The sales person pulled out a sample and said«This is what you need.» The first thing that went wrong was installation was not done in a timely manner. We were told the carpet would be ordered one week and installed the next. After ordering the carpet and having several weeks go by hearing nothing from Carpet Solution we gave them a call. The women on the phone indicated she thought the carpet had been installed already. After some investigation on her part and finding out it had just been sitting in their warehouse for several weeks our carpet was installed the next week. The second thing that went wrong was carpet installers using bathrooms without asking which bathroom they could use. To be helpful I had removed as many things from rooms that were to be carpeted as possible including putting my dirty laundry in a pile in one of the bathrooms in front of the toilette which made it inaccessible for use. When I came up to the bathroom, a bathroom only used by females in the house, I noticed the toilette seat was up having been used without asking. I have NO problem with providing a bathroom to workers in my house but I do have a problem when they stand on a pile of clothing to use a bathroom. Third we were met with lumps under the carpet throughout the entire area that was newly installed. One particularly large lump on the stares was bound to create an area of wear if I hadn’t convince my mother to contact the company and let them know about the problem. When the person came to check it out he mentioned they had had a lot of problems with that particular carpet pad. I mentioned that it seemed that if they knew they were having problems with it they would stop installing it in homes. I also mentioned that the carpet pad didn’t seem as thick as the one we had previously had and he said that thicker carpet pad would have been an upgrade and would have cost more. Considering this was an insurance claim we were not worried about the cost of upgrades but only concerned this company would put back what was there before. Fourth, after only about a month of use our new carpet began to show signs of wear that the previous carpet had taken more than ten years to show. Carpet Solutions first response was«That was the carpet you picked.». It was not the carpet we picked it was the carpet we were told matched what had been damaged. Then when an inspector came out to look at it and took his findings back to the company we received a letter back that did not address our concern at all. The letter stated that«crushing» was not covered under the particular warranty for this carpet and that they were sorry we were unhappy and extended us a 15% discount to have our carpet replaced. A warranty should have no bearing on this concern. Yes, if we had purchased this carpet because we were just looking for new carpet and didn’t like how it was wearing this would be our fault. Replacing this carpet using their professional or lack thereof expertise based on an insurance claim and an insurance company thinking they were paying for something they also didn’t get would be the company’s fault. A warranty may not cover this poorly made and poorly installed carpet but the company who was supposed to install a higher quality carpet and a higher quality pad in the first place should. We relied on Carpet Solutions to provide us with their expertise in finding a carpet that matched the quality and durability of what is in our house currently. We have several rooms that have 15 year old carpet like that which was replaced that look much much better than what Carpet solutions said matched that very same carpet and proceeded to install. I would not recommend this company as through every step of the process something has not gone right. Also a company that wants you to spend more money to fix a problem they created is not worthy of being recommend to anyone.
