Great locally owned butcher shop. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Have a vast variety of meats and other prepared meals. Love this place and of course I love supporting locally owned business. They also offer Kentucky proud products. Prices are going to be more than your local grocery stores but the quality is way better and worth the price. Like the Facebook page and see the weekly specials and they at times can be better than local grocery stores.

This place knows their meat. Ask about any item, and they can either produce it, tell you where it usually is, or even tell you the best way to cook it. Today the butcher almost sold me a beef femur upon telling another shopping how he likes to prepare marrow — not something I would typically be into. I was actually looking for sugar-​free bacon today. He knew where it should be, but they were out and he reassured me it would be back in stock soon.
Wandering around the store, this place has some serious selection in meats… Beef, pork, lamb, wild boar, frogs legs, rabbit, goat, duck, quail, not to mention all kinds of fish. I couldn’t resist… I left with some of their house-​made andouille, ground lamb, and a few pork chops.
This establishment focuses on local and organic meats. If you have any questions whatsoever, these guys will go to any length to help you out.

Nice workers, good knowledge of meats. Atmosphere was cool, it felt like a marketplace almost. Would buy from again!

Cooked a beef roast (2 inch thick, the kind that flakes) in a clay pot with a little oil and flour today. Added red potatoes and carrots.
Just like the beef we raised in Eastern Nebraska as a kid when my mother would cook these items in an electric skillet and we’d eat upon return from church on Sunday.
The texture and taste was identical and brought back great memories.

Check their Facebook page for the list of weekly specials. We bought ground sirloin on sale. I bought 9 pounds of it so I could stock up on taco meat and precooked ground beef for the freezer. Now that we bought a Foodsaver (what took us so long), we’ll be coming back for sure!

I love supporting local family owned businesses. I came here for steaks for the grill and got a great choice! Of course Ecuador I have a family of meat snobs I got filets and they were delicious!!! Not fatty and perfection! Now I will put the disclaimer in here that you will not pay Kroger prices here! It is higher! They have a great selection for aides, pies, pre-​made food! Check them out for holidays for meat specials! Also we bring our deer meat here and they do an awesome job processing it! The dear brats are delish

I absolutely love Critchfields. Their meat is incredible and worth every penny.
Any time I’m craving a delicious steak, I get a ribeye from Critchfields and grill it at home. It’s always better than anything I’ve ever had at a restaurant, and I don’t believe that’s a result of my grilling skills ;) You can truly taste the difference in their meats.
Their beer cheese, garlic chicken salad, and green beans are also great to take home.
Also, the people there are great. I tell them every time I go there how much I love their meat and they’re always so appreciative.

On Fridays Critchfield Meats has a sidewalk cookout including ribeye steak, chicken, or hamburgers. I had a cheeseburger, sans bun, with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and mustard. It was delicious. I didn’t have any side item, but they offer cole slaw, potato salad, and various chips. My husband had the cole slaw and didn’t care for it. We noticed in the store that most of their prepared salads have Miracle Whip, which we do not like, so that was probably also in the cole slaw.
We sat on a nearby brick planter wall to eat. More tables would be nice, but I guess it’s supposed to be grab and go. The line was way down the sidewalk so it is obviously popular.
I am only giving 3 stars because Critchfield does not offer any grass fed beef. Not a meat shop I would frequent. Also, the use of Miracle Whip is off-​putting. To each their own!

Great selection and staff. I found everything from bison to rabbit and it was all very fresh. The pricing is totally fair too. I love it here.

One of the best and only places you can get certain meats or proteins. Best country ham anywhere.

Twice in the past month I have enjoyed EXCELLENT Alltech filet mignon and rib-​eye steaks! They are so fresh, tender and the butcher even can shrink wrap them for travel in your cooler! I have never had better steak! Don’t miss an opportunity for excellent meat, much better than the grocery!
