Would’ve been 4 – 5 stars but I do deduct points for the menu items being one price and the tab items being anywhere from 50¢ to $ 1.50 higher. We orders the $ 10 Italian Grill, which was pretty good, but we were charged $ 11.50. The beers we were $ 5 on the menu, but $ 5.50 on our tab. The margaritas we started with were a full $ 1.50 more expensive but I wrote that off to premium tequila until I realized everything else was more expensive on the tab too. But hey, the spinach artichoke dip was $ 1 cheaper… So I guess there’s that? Nice patio though:)

Downtown Brown was huge and yummy. Cute atmosphere. My only complaint is that lunchtime was busy and service was slow. New ownership so I’m sure it will pick up. Tacos and burritos looked amazing.

Met with the bartender, he just bought the place with his partners 3 weeks ago from this date. From what he said it wasn’t great. Well if you’re looking for an amazingly delicious place to eat, this is it. Great environment, wonderful staff, incredible food. Can’t say enough good things as an «out-of-towner» and if I lived here, I’d be a regular. Thanks to Mike & Charlie for being awesome help and the chef for making such amazing food.

Should be considered a bar only, not a restaurant. Drinks were good, food was bad. We got the smoked pulled chicken sandwich and the Italian sandwich. The chicken was super dry and tasted a little funky. The Italian sandwich tasted like it was burnt. Fries were dumped in salt. Only good part of the restaurant is the drinks and outdoor area.

There is nothing notable about Cheapside. It gives a whole lot of options, but because of that, there is nothing spectacular

Cheapside is a Lexington staple. However, I have never been more disappointed. We came on a Tuesday evening and were told that a table for two would be 15 minutes only it look more than 30 minutes to get sat. I would much rather be over quoted on time than under quoted. We were treated like we were invisible from the moment we walked in which should have been a sign to leave but we really wanted to try Cheapside out. I don’t recommend this restaurant unless you are just stopping in for a drink.

Perfectly average. In all honesty, it’s probably a little expensive for what it is. I had the chicken enchiladas, they were decent. Good presentation. «Bottomless» chips require you to put them in with the kitchen(and only your server can do that), which can take forever. Doesn’t make much sense, have chips prepared and ready to deliver to the tables. My biggest peeve.

This is the perfect place to go if you want to meet your friends for drinks and appetizers. It’s got a great patio space in the heart of downtown which is perfect for those cool summer nights. The down side is their main dishes are really lacking in flavor department. I ordered a burger and although it was juicy it didn’t appear to be seasoned in any way. I had to smother on the ketchup in order to give it flavor. One of my girlfriends ordered the chicken quesadilla which wasn’t bad but the chicken didn’t taste nor appear to have any seasoning on it. We had to cover it in hot sauce in order to give it any sort of taste. Cheapside really needs to step up its food game!

Overall, everything was average. Wait time on food was too long given the quality of the food. Wait staff was minimally helpful. Our waiter didn’t write down our order and then forgot the blue cheese crumbles on my salad. Menu selection(especially for vegetarians) was poor. There were about 4 items to choose from for vegetarians. Attempting to get a healthier salad, I was surprised to get a side salad instead of a dinner salad, and the waiter failed to mention the size of the salad until after the food was delivered, at which point it was impracticable to make another selection. Those things that brought this venue down to two stars: * Prices: For Kentucky, this place was not that cheap. We ordered a salad from the«soups and salads.» The salad we got should have been on the ‘sides’ menu. It was small and did not include particularly unique menu items. Plus it was $ 6. * Black bean burger: The burger was also small for $ 9. the patty was nearly charred and lacking any flavor. Have had many black bean burgers better than this. The condiments for the burgers were lacking. No ketchup bottles at the table, no mustard bottles. The only redeeming feature was the beer selection, although the best ones were only bottled! Annoying.

We were looking for a place for my wife to get something gluten free. Walked in at a little after 10. Sorry kitchen closed. Then the Manager Steve says what you need? Well 8 of us were going to have drinks but the kitchen is closed. Steve says” I’m a yes guy, have a seat” My wife was served a chicken salad so she didn’t starve. We had a bunch of drinks and the waitress was fun. She even took the photo I posted. Great place to party. Great customer service. Thanks Steve, you get it.

Went here early on a Friday night to unwind after a long week. Wife and I had sandwiches which were good but nothing out of this world. We wanted to sit on the patio because it was nice outside and didn’t want to sit on the sidewalk. We had to be careful not to knock over our drinks because the table legs were level. Waiter saw it and said that it was just the way it was on the patio. I’d would agree with other reviewers that this place is more for the drinkers and not just a place to go dine.

It’s a cool place for drinks and music. They have a neat little outdoor bar/sitting area. The food is not that great from what I have experienced. It’s a good place to come for a drink or two, I don’t mind it for that.

This isn’t a place to go if you’re not interested in drinking. The food isn’t great, to be quite honest. I’ve been here a few times and I’ve never been wow’d. In the summer, the patio is pretty cool. Now it’s cold, and there’s just too many place within walking distance that I would recommend over this place. Last night, before the UK game, I was hungry but was feeling too casual for Shakespeare & Company, Saul Good, or many of the other restaurants downtown… big mistake. I ordered the meatless fajita salad. When it was brought out, I thought they confused it with fajita nachos, but the lettuce, rice and bean salad were all under the chips and greasy onion and pepper concoction. I’m not sure if the concoction were supposed to be cold or if mine were out of the ordinary… it was weird. The chips were inedible because they were covered in the grease from the nasty onion and pepper concoction. I will say that after I pushed away the pepper, onions and chips, the rest of the salad was ok. The rice in the salad was pretty good, it was green and flavorful. My husband liked his burger and paid the extra $ 1.50 and substituted the chips for fries and he said that the fries were cooked perfectly… the only reason for the second star. On the way out the man who was apparently bussing a table and heading downstairs practically knocked me over, and didn’t say a word. It was strange!

I had the bbq chicken pizza and it was good without being great. Nice thin crispy crust. All the toppings were huddled in the middle and the outer ring was kinda bare of anything tasty. Lots of good bottled beer from all over. Colorado, Oregon. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices.

Nice bar and patio area perfect for nice weather– get togethers and sitting outside. Even in the winter-they have patio heaters. As far as food goes, I havent eaten here many times but everything I’ve seen on other tables looks pretty good. Limited drink options especially when it comes to beer. They only have a handful of draft beers.

I didn’t realize(until just a moment ago) that this place is actually on Cheapside Street. Now the name makes sense! Stopped in here after a friends graduation at the Rupp Arena. It’s an interesting atmosphere with array of tables inside & outside as well as an open air room that gives you the benefit of being outside, but yet you’re still inside. Anywho — on to the important stuff: the grub! They have a rotating set of taps & they’ll let you sample before you order. Which was perfect for this group. Two of us sampled the West 6th Amber — I loved it, the other not so much. They have a wide array of menu items, but I zoomed in on the carnitas tacos and opted for fries. After tasting the special sauce they’re served with, I was very glad I did. The tacos are stuffed full and(as I recall) are double wrapped, which is key when using corn tortillas. I didn’t used to be a fan of the corn, but now I opt for it when given the chance. Relatively quick service & nice atmosphere for this local hangout in downtown Lexington. Cheapside is definitely the Rightside to hang out in.

I wanted to like this place, I really did. And then I did like this place. Sometimes the universe works that way. In fact, most times it does. You want something, and it happens. That’s normal stuff. This place has a good patio. The inside looked alright. The bathroom was a bit of a challenge for those with pee shyness aka Mike A.‘s baby brother. It’s probably okay for normal people. I had some mexican pork dish that was actually really good. Like, Unilocal review worthy good. I usually review the most stupid and inane things about a place and never talk about the food. Here, I had one dish. It was that mexican pork thing. If it’s still there — and oh yeah it may be Cuban and I may have just signaled to the world that I am either forgetful or racist — you should order this. Sorry people who I may have offended. On the bright side, one of you should be proud that you come from a heritage that produced recipes like the pork thing I had. And the other one of you should know that also like food that comes from people of your heritage. Also, calm down. It’s just food. I like all people. I’m no Donald Sterling OHSNAPTIMELYREFERENCETHATWILLBESOTIREDINTHEFUTUREWHENYOUREADTHIS okay back to regular sized letters. The patio is a good place to take a shot of your dopey friend with a sign hanging over his head that says«The Village Idiot». In case that’s useful to you. It was to us.
