So this place lost a star. Had to do it. I wanted to get an ice cream sundae(see I would have paid for it) with my free cone and the guy said«We do not have sundaes!» How do you not have a sundae when you clearly have the ice cream? I mean DANG! You guys gave me a generous helping of ice cream on the cone(root beer flavor btw); however, you could not just put vanilla, get a cherry from a cherry tree(growing right next to this place), and throw in a swirl of chocolate ice cream to act like fudge? Improvise people!

In terms of standalone restaurant versions of things you almost always see in mall food courts, this is pretty much the best one. Burgers: For this to be a chain much more on the Wendy’s or Burger King end of the spectrum, these are some really decent burgers. They’re made to order and they also have changing specialty burgers. Really great for the price range. Hot Dogs: Decently tasty and loaded down with chili if you’re into that. The chili is not as good as a dedicated chili place like Goldstar, but why would you expect it to be? Root Beer: Hands down the reason to come here they give you a frosty glass out of a a little freezer thing below the counter and you waddle over to this single massive tap and you for a moment get to feel like one of those busty gals from German beer logos as you try your best not to fill half of your glass with foam. You know how beer always tastes better on draught? Somehow this still applies when talking about sugary soda because the root beer tastes like an amaretto chocolate turtle cake in liquid form. Atmosphere: General shitty fast food made a little weirder by this table of ‘Nam vets sitting as geometrically far away from us as I could manage.

Awesome food and awesome service. Restaurant level, rarely found in a fast-food place.

It’s always a good idea to try a place twice, just to make sure it’s not a fluke that it was good(or bad). A&W impressed me again. The good? Excellent service. Cooked to order every time. Tasty chicken fingers. Even the shoestring fries are good, and I usually like my fries thicker. The background classic rock is good and not played at an intrusive volume. Frozen mugs are always fun. The bad? Okay, so the a la carte style is a bit pricey. 5 grilled chicken fingers are $ 7.99. No drink or side with that. 3 piece breaded tenders are $ 4.99. Fries $ 1.99. $ 1.99 for the frozen mug of Pepsi. So with only one drink, the total for my wife and I was $ 17.98. That’s high for only getting one order of fries and drink. Still, I’d come back, even at these prices. I only note the cost as a warning for anyone watching their budget. On this visit, I again chose the Thai sweet chili sauce and my wife chose the buffalo. We also both enjoy the jalapeño ketchup that’s on every table. They also have a Sriracha bottle available. After we started eating, she went back up and asked for samples of the spicy papa sauce(thousand island based) and some mayo.(Mayo as a dipping sauce? I asked. Yes, she replied. And well, on chicken fingers it makes sense in the same way that mayo on a chicken sandwich makes sense.) The shift manager came around later and asked her how she liked the spicy papa sauce, and asked whether I wanted a to-go cup for my Pepsi. Really friendly service. I lowered my star rating just slightly for this visit based on the more honest assessment of cost. Definitely on the high side for fast food. Still a positive experience.

My wife and I were craving fast food so we decided to swing by A&W. Ordered a Papa Burger, fries, and a root beer. The Papa is basically a 1⁄3 pound two-patty burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and Papa sauce(kind of a spicy Thousand Islands dressing). Loved both the burger and fries which were served with regular or spicy ketchup. The root beer served in the restaurant is a different formula from that sold in stores and is a unique blend of herbs, bark, spices, and berries. It’s especially refreshing when served from their frosted glass mugs. For dessert we had a Mango(Flavor of the Day) and Vanilla swirl cone which was a delight! I highly recommend this restaurant. The ingredients are fresh, the food is top notch, the service is terrific, and the restaurant is clean!

Service at this location is always friendly and outstanding in every way, really. Team members actually act as though they like their jobs and act as if it a pleasure to serve you. Often someone will go out of their way to do something kind: like offer to clear your table of trash for you, offer to grab you a refill, offer you a to-go cup as you are leaving. Place is always neat and clean. Food is always outstanding and accurate. As far as fast food goes, it doesn’t get much better.

I was happy to have found this place here in KY. I love A&W and the food and the quality is still the same as I remember when I was a kid. It’s Nostalgic. I’ll come back again.

I thought it was a little pricy @ $ 7.50 for a single cheeseburger«papa style» and onion rings(no drink) but the portions were good and everything was very fresh so that made it ok. The onion on the burger was too strong for my taste so I picked that off, otherwise very good! Like I said, it was fresh and looked fantastic(not thrown in the wrapper and messy) Just be prepared to wait, this isn’t traditional fast food but more like a Five Guys. Everything is fresh so even the drive thru can take 10+ minutes, but it was worth the wait!

As I was headed to the movies on a Saturday evening, I realized that I hadn’t eaten dinner. With it being so close to the starting time of the movie, it was either fast food or nothing. As a rarity, I chose fast food. As I walked in, and pondered at the simple menu, the staff was friendly and easily made small talk. The choices on the menu are basically burgers, chicken tenders, hot dogs and a few side items. As another rarity, I decided to go with a cheese burger and I was glad that I did. The patty was thin but the toppings were plentiful and I loved that! So, if you prefer a thick helping of meat, go for the double. But I recommend sticking with the single and piling up the toppings. What other fast food place can you add jalapeños, grilled mushrooms, and more… at no additional cost?! I have to admit, I did not scope out the part of the menu that listed the toppings, so when he asked what toppings I wanted, I ordered it just like I would at home… if I ever fixed burgers at home. The pickles aren’t your average flat sided round pickles, these were the light colored, and oblong, the kind that you write home about. The fresh fries were excellent too. They’re thin, the kind that they call shoestring fries. Mine came out piping hot, so I ate my burger first and finished off with the strings of salty goodness. I didn’t get to try a float or cone, but I noticed that the cones were good sized and only $.99! My only complaints were that both ketchup bottles at our table were empty. And because Diet Coke is my drink of choice, I assume that A&W is a Pepsi product because the fountain consisted of Pepsi, Mountain Dew and the like. I’ll be back to A & W for sure, especially when the new location off of Leestown Rd opens.

To quote Jules Winnfield from the movie Pulp Fiction–«MMMMMM. Now that’s a tasty burger» And washing it down with fresh A&W Root Beer is great. I can’t wait to try some of the soft serve ice cream next visit. It looks like it’s made in store and flavor variety changes.

I love that A&W is making a comeback. At least it is in this location. First, I love the retro look of the drive-thru menu board. It makes me smile when I see it. Now, I’ve only done the drive-thru so I can’t vouch for the dine-in service but the drive-thru service is excellent. They give you a number and have you pull forward to some designated spaces to wait for your freshly made burger. The wait isn’t long at all, maybe 5 minutes? But it’s nice that the drive-thru line isn’t being held up. I always get my burger Papa-style w/o onions but I think next time, I’ll try a modified Papa style. They have a spicy Papa sauce. I want to try that. I think I’ll try it with lettuce/tomato/grilled onions/grilled ‘shrooms/spicy Papa sauce. Mmmm, looking forward to that for sure! Oh, and their root beer floats are super good. My husband tried an orange float and he said it was really good. Very creamsicle-y. They have something called a root beer freeze, which I can only assume is like a root beer slurpee. Since I like coca cola slurpees, I will try the freeze. The freeze also comes in orange, if you’re interested in that. A&W is MmmmMmmmmGood!

I am enjoying the reboot of this franchise. Now complete with table service and a much improved menu. The place itself is new and modern compared to other older establishments. The burgers and cheese curds are a welcomed auditioned. I hope they keep the concept of this store alive.
