I was getting a serious case of after lunch sleepiness. Coffee seemed like a good idea, so I looked up good coffee places in Lexington. I picked A Cup Of Common Wealth mostly because of their name. When I walked in, I was greeted by the baristas at the small counter. I asked about what they liked, and decided upon a white chocolate latte. It was perfectly foamy and just lightly sweetened. I sat outside at one of their tables, but wanted to sit in! Everyone there was talking to a group or working by themselves on their laptops. It had a fresh, energetic feel. Come for the clever name, stay for the coffee.

Quant and comfy little community coffee shop in lex. Free Wi-Fi, indoor and outdoor seating, friendly staff. I had a black French roast and it was perfect.

Every time I come here, I have a bigger experience than just a standard coffee shop. It’s so neat to look at the wall of free drinks and see what everyone has written. But even better are the baristas. They are so kind and helpful, always giving me good suggestions when I ask for them. And of course, the coffee and tea drinks are delicious!

This was my first visit to A Cup of Common Wealth, so I can’t say that I’ve had the fullest experience yet. Especially since I only had a small cup of coffee with a splash of cream and sugar in it. HOWEVER, the coffee was GOOD. I think I want to try a pour over next time. The woman at the register offered to proffer suggestions, but I was jonesing for just regular ol’ coffee. It’s definitely a smaller coffee shops with not a ton of seating, but it’s a cozy and friendly atmosphere none-the-less. There’s a lot of street parking near their location, which was nice since I can never find a spot anywhere downtown when I need one. They also have a really awesome pay it forward board, that I didn’t even see until after I made my purchase. I love the idea of giving a complete stranger a pick me up during the day.

The drip coffee here is top-notch; strong, smooth, and tasty. Love the scones and lattes, too. But as far as getting your caffeine fix done RIGHT, look no further. Small space, but done with love. I will always find my way back whenever I’m in Lexington.

I always enjoy trying out the local coffee shops. This one is extremely cool. Neat art décor. Free wifi for customers. Friendly staff! I loved my Americano!

I didn’t drink coffee the first 33 years of my life, and I think it made me a coffee snob. The place has fantastic lattes. The staff are super nice and friendly too.

A neighborhood small coffee place with good coffee where you can bring your dog. It seems that everybody knows everybody here. Tried the cappuccino, the portion followed the traditional portion: smaller, but strong. Service was friendly and fast. Parking can be tricky during weekdays since only limited metered parking spots are available unless you want to walk for quite a distance.

Great coffee and great service. They have some of the best coffee in Lexington. I love how kind everyone is and how happy they seem to be there. Their lattes never disappoint!

I want folks to enjoy their workplace, and it really seems like they do at Cup of Commonwealth, but sometimes they are so loud and obnoxious. It’s really a small place and so if the young employees are getting rowdy and noisy, it can be really hard to hold a conversation or focus on what you are trying to do.

Yep, it’s a tight space. Too tight if you are meeting up with more than one person yet, nice and intimate with people you don’t know which drives friendliness to come out of each of us. I had a 12oz mocha and a quiche with chorizo that they bring in from another shop. My mocha was good(better than the national) but needs refinement in a few areas; extraction and microfoam. A fair amount of chocolate was on the bottom so, that may been why the sweetness was just right, not over sweet.

This place has the best coffee I’VEEVER had! The atmosphere is relaxing and makes you want to sit and drink coffee all day long. They make my favorite coffee drink as they see me pulling up and it’s usually ready by the time I walk to the counter. The owner and staff are amazing. A very thoughtful bunch who really care about the community they serve!

I am very picky when it comes to coffee but I was excited to try one of Lexington’s local coffee shops! If it’s my first time at a coffee shop, I always order an iced vanilla latte. I ordered this today at A Cup of Commonwealth and now I am a HUGE fan! I believe one of the owners made mine for me but it was one hundred percent perfect! I honestly could have this drink every day! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming and my drink was soooo soooo sooo much better than the coffee chain options in town. I don’t live in the downtown area but is is very much worth the drive!

Probably the best coffee in town, both brewed and retail. Great pour-overs, Americanos, etc. My wife tells me these folks also make some stellar latte-type drinks, too, if that’s your thing. Solid. No food, or at least a selection so small as to be unnoticeable. Bring your own biscotti. Very small space, and anything but quiet and cozy — think: the size of a small, unfinished basement, and about as comfortable. It’s not particularly conducive to your typical coffee shop happenings, i.e., reading books, studying, etc., so look elsewhere if your goal is to campout for the afternoon, or sit and relax with your pour-over. Other than the friendliness(see below), nothing in this place says«Relax.» This coffee shop is about coffee — surprise! Four stars, rather than five, only because sometimes I like to camp. I like camping. It’s fun. Don’t be a hater. If it’s your first time, you might be taken aback when it seems as though everyone in the shop(staff and patrons, alike) knows one another. First time around, the friendliness and familiarity seems a little cult-y. Don’t fear! They’re just genuinely nice people. The patrons seem mostly to be regulars, and the staff has decided to take the unheard of approach of taking an interest in their customers. It’s a good thing. Pay it forward.

Amazing! I stopped in while running through town on a road trip. I was simply looking for a cup of coffee. I left with an outstanding latte, a smile on my face and a desire to spend more time in this coffee shop and lexington. The two employees behind the counter were so friendly! They asked about where I was from and answered my questions about what lexington was like as a place to live. I got the sense that if I lived here these two outstanding people would soon learn my name and welcome me each time I visited. The vibe of this place, like others mentioned, is also great. Very simple and chill. Not chain feeling like starbucks, nor overly hipster. When in town, stop here! And if you live in lexington — get your butt here to support this great coffee shop!

The people who work here are super nice and helpful. I really like their mocha — it is one of the best I have had. Way better than the big chain coffee places.

This place will always be the best to me. I’m in a new city every 2 days, forgot my wallet after walking pretty far from the hotel in 95 degree weather. They were gracious enough to give me a cup of coffee. Really, really kind of them(and dumb of me). They also have a really great«pay it forward» program. AND their coffee was some of the best I’ve ever had. I love places that offer not only great coffee, but great community. Thank you!

It’s a small shop with a few 4-tops, 3 high-counter seats(looking out to Thoroughbred Park), and a few small outside tables. The best part of my visit was the people on both sides of the counter; baristas and customers are friendly and welcoming. I had the brewed coffee; it was good but I thought it could have been hotter. I expect the coffee at a coffee establishment to be as good or better than I make at home and the brewed was no better than mine. They also offer pour-over, french pot, cold brewed, and espresso; I’ll try the pour-over next time I’m here. I like«a little something» with my morning coffee but their food selections were very limited. The décor is rough and hard. I thought the music was too loud, possibly because of sound bouncing off the hard surfaces. The floor is concrete and it isn’t finished so the furniture rocks. I don’t think a shop like this needs a hardwood floor but self-leveling concrete and inexpensive flooring would help. I won’t come here when I want to concentrate or relax; I didn’t find it the atmosphere conducive for that. I’ll come back to try the pour-over and espresso, and to look out on Thoroughbred Park for a few minutes.

LOVE this place! I was in Lexington picking up some goods that I won on an online auction and took my Lexington wiz friend who suggested we stop in for a cup of coffee here. I am SO glad she did because not only were the staff incredibly friendly and caring, but the coffee was great too! This cute little hole in the wall stop lets you buy a cup/drink for who ever you want and write what you’re buying on the sleeve so the lucky lad who you bought it for knows who its from/for. Next time I get in on the Lexington scene, this will DEFINITELY be a stop I make :)
