Very happy a friend and I stopped by on our way from out of state. This is a fun little spot for all our loose leaf tea needs! The worker at the counter was willing to answer all of our questions and extremely helpful. I was so in love with two of their seasonal teas that I called because they were not listed for online purchase. I was overly delighted at how willing they were to ship it to me. Thank you, MonTea!

Great unique selection. But two or three times the price I usually pay for loose leaf at a local shop. Staff was moderately knowledgeable. Nice clean modern shop.

When I first moved to the area, one of the first things I did was look for a place to purchase loose leaf teas. MonTea was the only place that showed up for me at the time. I drove out there as soon as I could to check it out. MonTea is a cute little tea shop with a diverse selection of teas, at least — from perusing the little book that listed all the teas. I was mildly delighted when I walked in. I say that because I was happy to be in a tea shop but there wasn’t much for me to look at aside from the few tea accessories and jugs of tea behind the counter… and the woman working the store at the time just stood there and waited for me to ask questions. No offers. No suggestions. Not much interaction other than pointing out the list of teas(which kind of overwhelmed me). Sort of awkward, actually. Here I am, months later and that’s all I really remember about MonTea. Meh. I know I should give MonTea another shot but I’ve found other places to get my tea for the time being…

If you want tea and only tea, this is a place to go, no coffee, no smoothies, no hot coco. Only hot tea, no iced tea so don’t try going during a heat wave. They have hundreds of teas to choose from and it might take a while to find the one that’s right for you.

This wonderful little tea lovers shop in Chevy Chase has a large variety of loose teas. I couldn’t find my Dragon Well(green tea) anywhere in town, even at the Asian markets. It is my custom to have a tea break every afternoon. Of course, I don’t read Chinese, so I might have been looking at the box without my knowing it. Montea sells teas by the ounce, so you can purchase an amount of your choosing. I usually purchase the minimum amount. Since you only have to use a small pinch of loose tea, a bag will last a long time. Owner is very knowlegeable, so don’t let the wall of teas intimidate you. Ask questions.

I love the peach teas they sell. The owner is very friendly and helpful. This place is very clean and neat. It’s located in Chevy Chase on Euclid. It’s not the easiest place to get to, because parking is iffy. It’s well worth it, though. There are quite a few coffee houses in town; and some of them have some teas. MonTea sells bulk tea, or by the cup… maybe even by the pot– that I don’t know, but it makes sense… If you drink tea, you may want to try it out.

Montea is a lovely little specialty tea shop with a wide variety of teas at reasonable prices(I assume, I don’t buy a lot of loose tea but I certainly feel like I got my money’s worth). When I went in to buy some tea for a friend, the woman behind the counter wouldn’t tell me what her favorite tea was so as not to bias my choice — I liked that! She was extremely helpful in guiding me to the right tea, letting me smell different things and asking lots of questions. I ended up buying«Relaxation Station» for myself and it’s now my go-to before bed drink. Love this place!

Tea lovers finally have a place in Lexington to buy loose leaf teas, hurray! Montea sells over 50 different sorts of tea by the ounce. The wall behind the front counter is lined with shiny bins of teas ranging from delicate Chinese whites to Sri Lankan blacks and everything in between. The tea menu is printed up and hanging out on the counter so you can peruse and find whatever you need. Whenever I go to buy tea, the owner always takes the bins down so I can smell each one, or get a feel for one I’m trying to decide on. There’s a small«gift area» of tea supplies and paraphernalia too. There is a station of hot water and to-go cups, but this is definitely not a place to sit down and enjoy some tea with a friend. I think there are maybe two chairs. It’s really just a retail spot, and I’m happy with just that.
