In Lewisville we don’t have much to work with as far as bars and hang outs. Drunken Donkey is the great go-to. Great food and drinks and staff. The drink specials are always good and the atmosphere is fun and casual. I go here a lot and it feels like family. They have recently renovated and have tons of tvs to watch sports and lounge areas to hang. As I said before, the food is actually good. It’s real hometown food, not at all just bar food! I’ve even brought family members here for a normal family dinner during the holidays. I go here as often as my budget will allow. We need more places just like this here in Lewisville.

Food is good, If you go at the right time and definitely not late night. Service is very mediocre, but the craft beer is definitely an A plus. Specifically, there is a guy that comes up there and every time he drops of his keys and says take these because I know you’re going to over serve me and I’m going to be too drunk to drive and lives right down the street. Great! That’s all okay planning ahead and being responsible, yet other people who knowing are not drinking and trying to have a good time can’t get served more then 2 drinks. This is a very cliquy bar and definitely not the best one of the franchises. We go here because it’s close to the house but have now seen the favoritism that takes place and will not be returning. There is way too many establishments to not love every aspect yet continue to return. Our money will be spent elsewhere.

I’d give them 96226807435 stars if I could. First off, I came in on Memorial Day. Just as I walked in, displayed front & center was The Missing Man Table. Bad ass. Well done by the owner. Thanks for that, and most importantly thanks to those the symbol represents. If you don’t know what it is, use the google machine in your hand and look it up. 75 rotating taps. More in bottles & cans. Tons of local options. Staff is very knowledgeable about the beer, and how to serve it. I’m not a beer snob, but respect when a bartender serves me a beer in the appropriate style glassware & tells me stuff about it. Damn good food. Nachos were composed of fresh ingredients & well made. Very tasty. The hero burger was more of the same. Fresh, tasty, well executed & cooked just as ordered. Really good. Also, we split it — and burger arrived split on 2 separate plates for free.99. Awesome! Fries fantastically seasoned. Service was excellent across the board. Also, I’m prone to lust after random pint glasses of cool design, and one in this fine establishment caught my eye. My past MO has been to tuck them in my wife’s purse and slip out the back door. But, I guess I’m getting older & more responsible because as of late I just politely ask if I can buy it. I asked the bartender, and she just replied not to worry — she’d clear it through the manager and pass it over with no charge! Rad! Go here for the food, the service, the beer and the character of the owner & staff.

Service is terrible. Food quality is okay. Not going for late night. Very noisy and pricy based on food quality. So for first experience was not good. Do not order wing

Thank you for your dedication to charity and working together with other local businesses. Also thank you for the great customer service. I just won a grill because of this establishment’s pursuit to charity and helping a local distillery.

How can you not love this many different choices on tap?! I would suggest this establishment if you enjoy trying new beers. There is not as much interior space as the Colony location, but it is much quieter and the staff is very friendly. The food is typical bar food. I would look into trying some different things on the menu, but I haven’t seen anything that they make in house that sounded great.

So came here a second time and now have a completely opposite opinion. I don’t care how successful they may think they are here, a lot of potential is simply going straight down the toilet in how fubar the bar area is being operated here. It was noticed a bit during the first visit and written off as a quirk, but this time it was so obviously ridiculous. By and large there doesn’t seem to be anybody in charge overall, i.e. a General Manager. Even had a discussion about it with other customers all picking up on the same selective process at which service is being given, assuming it was given at all. Overall some customers get smothered in service and some get zilch. A black guy sat at the bar for 20 minutes and left without any service. Another guy sitting with an asian lady was literally yelling trying to get the one«working» bartenders attention. There was no way she couldn’t have heard and we already knew that she wasn’t deaf, so the obvious reality is she was intentionally ignoring him for some unknown reason. We never saw him act rude or bizarre in any way, didn’t make sense. Later we noticed a general trend overall. Certain customers who are«different» get it the worst, men in general get worse service than women, and people the bartender knew got their ear chewed off while other customers sat without food or drinks. Maybe it was some kind of meds issue or something, hard to say for sure. This particular bartender is definitely a strange sort of bird for sure The other really weird thing is that there was another gal who seemed to be stationed at the bar, but she essentially refused to make eye contact, let alone smile or act friendly in any way, with the bar customers and otherwise not provide any service to them whatsoever. The occasional exception was if some hunky looking guy arrived at the bar, and then she was like a starving dog going for a fresh meaty bone being totally focused on that one customer. Not sure if she is someone’s daughter, GF, or personal pet, but she essentially served no useful purpose from a business operations perspective except to p-off customers sitting at the bar waiting for service and make them feel unwelcome. So the whole point is that I have to agree with some of the other reviews in that I don’t get the impression that there’s anyone in charge here who really gives the slightest care about any of this. This is for anyone else who might be thinking about trying this place out. It’s just a blue collar sports bar serving heavy bar food. There’s nothing wrong with that, but trying to spin it off with a «gastropub» moniker is total BS. There does seem to be some meat-market action going on here if you’re into that sort of thing. They have a lot of beers and if you’re sitting at a table rather than at the bar you have a much better chance of getting to try a few of them. If you want a real gastropub experience with great service and atmosphere, but just happened to google up this location then I would instead highly recommend the Meddlesome Moth in Dallas. If you decide to come here otherwise I highly recommend sitting at a table rather than the bar, but I personally recommend going somewhere else. There are just too many other better choices available to put up with this kind of thing.

Good selection of beers but that is about it. Manager is a huge douche bag. A couple nice girls that work there but other than that. Place blows. I had a steak dinner that wasn’t very good. Any steak that comes with of A1 is a sign that it’s not good quality. I would rather spend my money at a quality sports bar that values ever customer. Maybe other locations are better Horrible customer service. Don’t know how to treat people

Food: 2 stars Service: 5 stars Beer: 4 stars Wine: 3 stars I searched out a good place to eat lunch since I was going to be in the area and had a hard time finding non-chainy super processed blah food. Landed on this spot after reading«scratch kitchen» and on a friend’s recommendation. Food: The menu looks diverse and delicious with thoughtful but achievable small touches that theoretically make each dish special. I was severely disappointed. The French Dip sandwich had meat that looked and tasted like it came out of a plastic package from the grocery store. The Auj Jus(which should be the star) was nearly flavorless. The Dirty Fries that came with it didn’t have enough seasoning and were meh. My friend ordered a donkey squealer burger with beef, ham and pulled pork. He had to take the bun off to ensure he received pulled pork on it. The beef was underwhelming, the ham was overpowering and the pulled pork either tasted like lunch meat(not ham, just generic packaged lunch meat) or was just incredibly bland. The only good thing we both enjoyed were the stuffed jalapeños, which were indeed delicious as many other reviews here will attest to. None of this looked or tasted remotely«from scratch». Service: The service here was impeccable. Our waitress knew her beer extremely well and was clearly very passionate about craft beer(both on the menu and in general). She knew the menu, wine list and beer menu in and out. She truly learned our palate and made some great recommendations. My water glass never even got half empty. She was attentive without being intrusive. She even had the kitchen split our plates for us since we wanted to try each other’s meals. I wish I remembered her name… Having been a server for myself for several years, I am usually satisfied but rarely impressed. Beer: the beer menu was diverse and had a lot of old favorites as well as more obscure breweries. I tried some great stuff here I had never tried before and very much enjoyed. Good selection and there was only one we requested that they ran out of(a neighboring table had been drinking it). Probably 30 – 40 beers on the menu(guesstimate). Wine: The wine list was a very pleasant surprise! I enjoy beer but after 2 – 3 I always find myself craving a good Pinot. All these craft beer places usually have one«white» and one«red» of mysterious unknown varietal and it’s generally awful. This place had maybe 8 – 12 by the glass with a good spread of varietals. The wineries weren’t all that impressive, but this isn’t the type of spot people are likely to drop good money on great wines. I appreciate that there was at least a selection and that they weren’t all from an aluminum tap(uggghhh I hate aluminum tapped wines!) Atmosphere I didn’t include this in the ratings because we sat outside so I didn’t feel informed enough. They did what they could with your typical strip mall parking lot location. There was a tent for shade and picnic tables to sit on the«patio». The inside was dark to accommodate a ton of good sized tvs. The restroom was clean and well stocked. Overall I would come here again, but I would pack a lunch or eat before hand. Drunken Donkey is a great concept that I think is much needed, particularly in North Dallas/the burbs. I wish the food execution and quality were better, but if I lived in the area I could see this being a great spot for a beer with some friends or to watch a game. Ultimately I think their claims are a little lofty and there is room for improvement.

I only give a 5 star if I can’t find a recommendation for improvement. Keep in mind, this is a pub/craft beer house, so you have to keep your expectations within that thought process. We had Stephanie and Kelsey waiting on us. Both were super knowledgable about the beer. Kelsey is the bomb for beer knowledge, she knows her stuff no doubt. Smaller place with a patio erected in front. Cold night, wasn’t interested in the patio for that reason. Lots of TV’s blaring a bit of this and that at every angle. Lots of great craft beer choices. Rather varied menu offering typical bar food items to non-traditional bar food stuffs. We went on a Tuesday, they had a special going for Texas craft beers. It didn’t apply to us though, as my buddy and I decided to do the beer sampling«flights» option. It took a while of trying various beers before we narrowed it down to what I did and didn’t like. I don’t care for hoppy stuff, has a bitter side to it. The darker beers are good, the lighter smooth ones are good, the fruit beers are good. I *thoroughly* enjoyed sampling a variety of beers. We sampled beer from 6pm until 9pm. It was glorious. We had so much fun. The place was packed and jamming. I found that impressive for a Tuesday evening. As an appetizer, we ordered the bacon thingies. You can read the multiple reviews on them, good rich bacon wrapped cheese chicken jalapeño creations. Wasn’t real sure about the orange sauce on it, but overall, delicious. My friend ordered some kind of fish salad. Nice looking salad with a huge slab of grilled fish on top. He said it was great. I ordered a chicken phillie. It is just what it sounds like, except it has melted yellow cheese on it instead of provolone like a steak phillie. It came with sweet potato fries and had jalapeños on it, the sandwich was delicious. The fries, well, they had brown sugar and cinnamon on them. I had never ever even heard of brown sugar and cinnamon on fries. My friend had though, he actually said he didn’t know they could be served any other way. Honestly, I didn’t like it with brown sugar and cinnamon. Too sweet and too much like a desert, not what I had wanted. The waitress asked about it and I shared my thoughts. She immediately brought me an order of sweet potato fries with just salt on them, those were good. If you want a place that is friendly, busy, beer oriented, with above average bar food, this is it. Recommended.

Dope! Recently walked in to explore this place while visiting on business. The vibe is fun & full of energy venue has character, great beer option and a full bar with my fav Macallans, Crown Royals, etc. Had the stuffed jalapeños…killer! Wrapped in bacon, filled with chicken breast & spicy sauce! The beer options were hung across the ceiling… very fly. Great beer selection and there was shuffleboard, put put, and table games. The patio was fly too. especially on a beautiful night.

No frills bar with a attitude. Perfect for the neighborhood and clientele. They have a ton of TV, to the point that you loose track of the game you went to see, Kudos for that. Food: blah! Dont expect much of it… Drink: not strong. Leaning toward light and watery. Botton line. Great place to go watch a game, and drink beers.

Here on a Saturday night and the place is not busy. Maybe should have taken that as a sign. We sat outside to escape some of the noise. They do have a very good beer menu, but the cocktail my daughter ordered was so awful she sent it back. She and her sister both said it tasted like medicine. He jochen was very slow considering there were not that busy, almost 45 minutes. My Chef salad was huge and quite good. Daughter #1 had chicken strips and were crap. Small overlooked and very heavily salted. Waste of money. Daughter #2 had a burger that was good. Service was good. Might return for a beer as they are only a few minutes from my office. Bottom line, beer is a yes, food a ‘at your own risk’ and service a yes.

The food is delicious. I’ve had a double patty burger and last week I had a Philly cheesesteak. The tvs are a good size and positioned for everyone to watch the games. I like the fact that the waitresses are conversational and the manager checks in every now and to make sure you have good service. The important thing is that the waitresses make sure that you’re not thirsty by always topping off your drink

Plenty of tvs makes for great sports watching, ridiculous long list of beers available(more than 50 on tap and 100+ bottled) and food was superb! Would recommend the chicken philly, meatloaf and pulled pork. Staff is friendly and very attentive.

went here a year ago with a group of coworkers the two stars is for the awesome bartender who whipped up some great drinks. food was average bar food. hummus was NOT good.(this is from a vegan so its what i ate) the fries were more the way to go. its a bar so food really isnt why your there. they have some games and such and a nice patio area. the waitress was awful. she NEVER carded & even tried to convince our only underage group member to not be the lame one out. finally after he repeatedly said no and asked for soda we had to call him out as being the underage one. she could have saved him the embarrassment had she just thought to either card us, or hmmm just think«hey this guy doesnt want to drink». she then never placed his order(same guy) and after we ate he had to call over a diff waitress for his food which came out wrong. ugh. we ultimately had a good time in each others company. i did call the following day and explain to a manager the whole incident. he offered a sincere apology and an understanding that the waitress in question would be retrained. he stressed it is NOT their policy to pressure and they offer an environment for non drinkers. i think his name was michael? its been so long. we were also offered a free round on the house next time. the managers apology earned them the 3rd star. just remember the waitresses are the ones we deal with the most and she knocked the rating down to a 3. i really really really think she was drunk. or not all there.

Visiting from Hawaii so I checked this place out with my dad. Neither of us have ever been here before. Our server was Lauren and she was awesome! Talkative, friendly, helpful, and patient with my beer indecision! My dad got the chicken wings and I got the smothered chicken. Both were surprisingly amazing, especially considering this was a random restaurant we’d never heard of. Wings were crispy, good sized, and tasted amazing. They were not breaded or covered in excessive sauce, which is a good thing! Just how we like them. The smothered chicken was a grilled chicken breast with a queso sauce, bacon, diced tomatoes, mash potatoes, and grilled green beans. Absolutely perfectly cooked. They also had a massive beer selection. Unfortunately for me I’ll be going back to Hawaii in a couple weeks, but this place is definitely worth checking out.

This is one of the best bars in Lewisville. The service is THEBEST and the bartenders and waitresses are observant and kind. I’ve eaten the Reuben several times and it does not disappoint. Mango habanero wings are great. The sweet potato fries are sweet instead of savory, which was interesting. But all in all 4 stars on the food. I’m giving 5 stars for the service and beer selection. Also, I heard they’re about to expand next door to accommodate more beers. Sweet!

If you find the usual boobs and brews joints too ridiculous and the usual craft beer joint too pretentious then this might be the bar for you. Wings are good and theres a healthy selection of craft brew(though the staff could do with a crash course on beer styles.) So many tvs on you’ll probably have a fit triggered. Come in with a general idea what your beer preferences are, mind your manners and be friendly, and you’ll have a great time.

I have always heard about this place and I got to visit recently. I’m not a big fan of beer, but this is a great place to hang out with friends in the area. Drunken Donkey has a million selection of beers on tap to choose. The beers are reasonably priced and always chill. First time stopped by and saw a lot of TVs inside, just wow. The atmosphere is clean. Smoking area outside. A lot of table games plus beer pong. The bartenders were friendly and helpful. I didn’t have a chance to try their food yet, so I have no comment on this. They can do frozen margarita everyone! Woot woots! One thing though, I personally feel like the lights are too bright for a bar. I just need this place to be more like a relaxing place. Well, I’ll definitely be back. Great place with a fantastic beer selection and great price.

tons of great craft beer, and the food was much better than expected! bar food but with some cool twists. Those«bacon thingy’s» are the bizness. burgers looked good and they said they’re made fresh not frozen. staff was pretty good and attentive too, super friendly & personable. Went on a Tuesday, discounted Texas craft beer night! can’t go wrong there. tons of HD sets too. wondering if there’s a medium setting on their AC. it was BLASTING in there… i like it cold, but it was cold and windy in every seat i tried… just not so good when you’re eating. the patio has the same problem, tried to sit outside since it’s a cool outside space that doesn’t seem totally like you’re in a strip mall parking lot, but there’s fans blowing hurricane winds on every table. couldn’t do it… they looked like they were all hooked together and i didn’t want to ask them to crank down if everyone else was digging it, ya know…

Mackenzie and Sara now are expecting us every week, know us all by name, and been awesome to our group. We’ve kind of got a Cheers thing going on now. They’re all great. They have a new menu and it’s awesome. And the service is really fantastic, way above what you’d expect. Looking forward to the Donkey Lunch Every Week.

The pub has changed since my last review. Not only has the majority of the staff changed, the wifi now requires a password. Fortunately, it still remains super fast. Unfortunately, I’ve no excuse if I ever need to remotely access my work computer. It didn’t take long for one of the bartenders to offer me the drink and food menus. I recognized her friendly smile from a previous visit. As I haven’t been here in ages, she explained both the day’s drink and food specials. I was even offered a sample of the beer I had chosen. After being described the Fireball Feast, I knew what I wanted to eat. Sadly, I made a very rookie mistake. I ordered the beer before ordering the food. A veteran would have ordered the food and asked the bartender for the appropriate beer to complement it. Then again, it did give me the excuse to order a beer which complimented my meal. May be I didn’t make a rookie mistake?

I really do appreciate this bar and grill! I came by this place last week to try out their food real quick before catching a movie. Such a great atmosphere, plenty of flat screens on the wall, a juke box, a day of the week special on drinks, and lastly delicious FOOD! Its rare to see good food served at a bar, but this bar is one of the few places to find it. I had the Reuben sandwich that comes with their hand cut seasoned fries. The sandwich was cheesy and perfectly put together. The fries were even great, which def completes the meal for me. The service was attentive and everything came out at a reasonable time, I made it to the movies with minutes to spare. I would definitely recommend this place to hang out with friends and enjoy some good grub and craft beer!

Such a great addition to the neighborhood! Came here with my dad to have an early dinner and to watch some sports. Almost immediately after taking a seat our waitress came over and discussed their numerous local beers on tap. My dad and I were skeptical as to which beer to pick from because they have over 50. Our waitress made a few recommendations that were not only wonderful but were also very helpful! As for the food I highly recommend the bacon thingies(they come in an order of 4 or 6), definitely get the order of 6. I was highly disappointed we only ordered 4 because I seriously could have eaten more! As for the entrée my dad and I spilt the«Spirit of a Hero» burger which came with avocado, fried jalapeños, pepper jack cheese and of course MORE bacon… amazing! They even pre-spilt our burger for us! Such great service! Oh and don’t forget to order your fries«blackened,» they are seriously perfect in texture and flavor. Oh and did I mention they have a great patio? What are you waiting for?! Go now!

This is by far one of the best bar/restaurants in Lewisville. They should consider expanding the franchise/brand out to more locations(if they haven’t already). One of these in a choice neighborhood in Dallas would be a printing press for cash. LOCATION: B: It’s right down the street(maybe a mile) from I-35 and Highway 121. Easy in, easy out. Bonus points because it’s extremely convenient for me. I can walk here. FOOD: B+: Better than your average bar fare. This place can kick B-Dub’s menu’s butt any day of the week. They have more than just chicken too. Their chicken is fantastic, but the menu does not stop there. Have a Philly Cheesesteak, a burger, an entrée or just a crazy good appetizer or two. BEER: A: This place has 55 beers on tap and another 100+ in bottles. I would be willing to bet they have the most options in Lewisville. Also they serve Revolver(when they can keep it in stock) so bonus points for that. LIQUOR: B: They carry all the good tequila and whiskey to keep the party going. Patron shots are a little on the pricey side, hence the«B» for the liquor category. They are very good at making specialty shots if asked and they do not look at you like«WTF» if you ask for something they do not understand(they just take your order and Google it as God intended). CAPACITY: B: They have enough room for about 100 people inside and outside if I had to guess. It’s okay, but if it was bigger, it would bring in more customers. Props for the outdoor pergola, live music on weekends and fans. SERVICE: B: They are good. They get busy. Sometimes we have to wave at them to come over, which we hate because they hate it and it makes us feel bad to have to do it. However, people gotta eat & drink and when your crew is expanding rapidly, they need to keep up(which they do a damn good job of usually). MANAGEMENT: A: The management at the DD knows how to take care of customers/patrons and does so generously. I carry a 10% discount card in my wallet as do many of my coworkers. The folks that run this place also giving back to the community by sponsoring various local sports teams like Softball, Kickball and a few others. SPORTS: B: TV quantity and placement is on point. They have a nice setup for watching the game(s) of your choice. I would like to see some TV’s hanging from the ceiling(aka Bombshells-style), but they are doing a good job covering their wall space with flat TV screens that show the sports that we want to see. Bonus for having DirecTV and the NFL Sunday Ticket. That’s all for now. Go visit and enjoy some yummy food, good TV, nice service and an overall fun sports bar. Kickback with an oldschool board game too if you want.

Sooo. not what I expected. It’s horrible I know, but I’m a person that DOES judge a book by its cover and by that I mean that the shopping center this establishment is connected to isn’t my norm«Saturday Night View»(it looks sketchy). Literally, as soon as I stepped out of my car, the door to this place was opened by a friendly face manager. We step in and the décor is amazing. It’s clean and set up perfect. The manager immediately let’s us know that is open seating and that he can change one of the 200 big screen tvs to whatever we want to watch. Food was amazing(I got the cheeseburger) Drinks were restaurant priced, but well over restaurant quality. Grade A I immediately went back to my college days when I noticed a group in the corner playing on a BEERPONGMACHINE! ! This place is epic.. I’ll Def be back(prob this weekend)
