A straightforward, no-frills shop next door to South Side Hoagie. They open 3 – 10 pm, Tuesday through Sunday. I was there right after opening and the store smelled like bleach. I guess that means that they keep it pretty clean. They had some items on the wall as an homage to the old Royale Dairy; I’m not sure if they have any actual association with the Royale, but it’s neat to see a slice of Mifflin County history. My mother worked at the Royale Dairy. They sell Hershey’s ice cream, which is relatively common around here, but that’s okay because it’s a solid product. I ordered a small mint chocolate chip, and I got about two and a half scoops piled high on the sugar cone, all for $ 2.32. Good deal. The ice cream was frozen hard, too, which makes a difference when you take it outside in the summer. Nothing special, but it’s always nice to have another hand-dipped ice cream joint within striking distance.
