What other experience can offer the freedom, the spontaneity, the pure unadulterated joy like that of the modern buffet? Between the plastic plants and steaming rows of refreshment lies a realm of infinite possibilities. In the China Garden Buffet, that humble, flowering oasis, nobody can say no. Its dishes may be oriental in origin, but the restaurant epitomizes American ideals of freedom, opportunity, and excess better than any other. The rush of adrenaline from devouring plate after plate with reckless abandon, the blithe laughter as each dish is refilled, the cheerful melodies that blossom from the tinny speakers– these are the joys of youth. Many an evening has been spent with friends in the splendor of the China Garden, shrouded by the lights of Electric Avenue and the scent of lo mein. The four-leaved clover of the cream cheese wonton, that magnificent fried delight, is just one of the many marvels to be harvested from that magical Garden. A night under the stars pales in comparison to an evening below these flourescent lights. So many memories have been made here; I’ll forever associate the endless trays of noodles and wontons with the unlimited possibility of youth.

Fairly decent chinese-american buffet. Very quick in and out with attentive staff. Good food and options with occasional rice noodles. Does not have a large setup or exotic food items such as frog legs, etc.

Things have changed in a year! It went from cramped and long wait times for a table to lots more space and immediate seating. The staff is attentive and on the ball.

This is a standard American Chinese style buffet. What sets it apart is the attentiveness of the servers. They are super quick to take finished plates. They also keep up with the food on the buffet. That means always hot food. Some Chinese buffets don’t keep up in such fashion. Also, for a smaller restaurant, they have a good variety of desserts and a small salad bar as well. The price is reasonable for a small town Chinese buffet. It is also very clean even though they are in the middle of expansion construction. The main negative is the location. It can be hard, at times, to exit or pull into the lot. Another negative is the small and sometimes cramped spaces. But it appears like they are working on that with their expansion. The servers are very friendly and always smiling. They are quick to help should there be a problem. This is, in my opinion, the best Chinese buffet in the Lewistown area.

This appears now to be called China Garden Buffet, 112 Electric Ave(cool street name), and 248‑2222. It was a standard chinese buffet. Not as good as the Bellefonte one, and almost as good as the State College one. at least slightly different, which at least provides a change. We would go back if passing through. the birthday cake ice cream was a nice change in the deserts, albeit was a Hershey ice cream.
