Great beers! Small tasting room and take out. Truly one of the best stouts I’ve ever had. I’m more of an Irish(Not British Export) Murphy’s fan, but this is even lighter in body with all the flavor! Off the beaten path a bit but a worthwhile

Stopping by Baxter brewery is definitely a good idea. One can go on a tour, which is pretty informative if you know nothing about brewing beer. While this is cool, the best part, of course, is tasting the beer. The Stowaway IPA is fantastic and always available. I wish they would bring back Ceremony, which was limited availability and I found to be a great, not so strong beer. Really though, all Baxter Brews are excellent so go to the brewery!

Fantastic beer and a nice little store. Seth was knowledgeable and attentive and knows how to pour a beer. I definitely enjoyed the experience.

We lucked into the Baxter Brewing tasting room on a day that was supposed to bring a blizzard into town. Fortunately, the storm missed us. So we went to drink beer. What a beautiful complex they are housed in. We arrived early, but Ezra let us in. We had the place to ourselves, so we were treated to a VIP experience! A personal tour of the facility where we got to meet one of the brewers. Our questions were answered thoroughly. Throughout the tour, we found their 10 «commandments» written in different places. This was a very nice touch, and we found them to be genuine in every way. Ezra and the brewer we met(forgot his name, but from K.C.) were so knowledgeable. We consider ourselves beer geeks, but we learned so much from discussions about the business, yeast and gravity. This was such a treat. Everyone involved enabled us to have an extraordinary experience. Oh yeah… the beer was great too! I hope to find myself back in Lewiston one day to see how much they have grown since our visit. Good things will happen to the Baxter team. Thank you!

Free tour, free samplings, inexpensive beers. Nice place, funky staff. Loved it. It is in a historic mill. The beers are canned, and they all taste terrific. You can buy a mixed six pack and they put rings around the pack so you can carry it. All the beers sound great but I had WINDOWSEAT, a dark beer. Made with almonds, chocolate and coconut…“a 12 oz vacation” quite yummy, but limited release I think so buy it fast.

Love the brews!- been a fan of micro and craft beers for years — as a fan of stout beers — I gave the Phantom punch winter stout a try — love it! The verity pack is the way to go if you want to sample a little of everything — greater tasting and full body beers– become more of a fan with every can!

Love visiting Baxter Brewing when we are in the Lewiston area. Their staff is super friendly. Really like trying the various small batch beers that the employees come up with– recently there was an orange honey blossom pale ale and green tea pale ale– both were delicious! Definitely recommend a visit!

Who doesn’t love a good microbrew these days and with new breweries. popping up every other month it seems, there is no shortage of them. Baxter doesn’t disappoint. Solid pricing on the sample, good variety of samples for a newer place. The production beers felt a little on the weak side flavor-wise but the small batches were excellent! We went on the 4th of July so it was a bit slow in there but the place has a lot of character so I imagine the ambience is great on a normal Saturday.

Simply the best — no other way to describe Baxter Brewing. From the Stowaway IPA to the Phantom Punch Winter Stout, they’ve got a beer for every occasion. I can’t wait to see their tap handles at my favorite bars around NYC. Get down here, Baxter! We’re waiting!

I adore their brewery shop in Bates Mill. It’s gorgeous and open reasonable hours for you to stop in to grab some booze or branded clothing items. The brewery tour even ends with a sampling of their regular beers — free! I have become a hardcore Baxter beer fan since the wonderful tour and great staff. I think a Baxter restaurant and BrewPub is in order, I would be the first in line.

After trying some Stowaway IPA my wife and I decided we needed to stop by the brewery on our way home from Gouldsboro. It is in a super convenient location right off the interstate and in a really interesting old grain mill. We arrived early on a Sunday and had the entire place to ourselves. We chatted with Ezra who helped us along in our tastings and gave us a lot of information about the brewery. We then got an extended tour of the facilities and just had a great time. Ezra was extremely knowledgable about the brewery and the history of the building. Getting a tour with Ezra is worth the trip alone but fortunately they also have delicious beers to have as well. I love the fact that everyone who works at the brewery gets the opportunity to design a recipe. They have 4 taps that always have rotating small batches that seem to be interesting and unique. We also bought one of the coolest pint glasses that I have ever seen in the shape of a beer can. Thanks Baxter for a great experience and some great beer.

We were on a mission to find Baxter Brewing! We headed out from Portland… had a nice, little drive… and wouldn’t you know it… as soon as we were supposed to land at our destination, Google wanted us to head the wrong way down a one-way street. So a word of advice — Google will screw you just as you’re about to land at this amazing brewery!!! We did finally find the entrance… it is a tad confusing and hidden. It was around 5 on a Saturday — and the tasting room was empty! Woohoo! We had the place to ourselves and the full attention of the tasting room manager. We each purchased a beer sampler and then headed out for a fantastic tour of the building. The location of this place is incredible. Being in an old mill, they are definitely making the space work for them. And they’re growing like mad, so the space is constantly evolving. They also allow for the outsiders to come on in and have a seat near their brew deck, enjoy some beer, and play some bags. The Shipyard IPA is by far their most popular — and it was definitely my favorite. BONUS — our 6-pack arrived home safe & sound after our flight. :) SO great beer, friendly brewery… oh and they have soft pretzels that they serve with their amazing mustard. Who doesn’t love pretzels and beer? This place is definitely worth the hike out to Lewiston.

On my way up to Northern Maine, the wife and I decided to make a quick pitstop to get some beer from Baxter and also to check out the brewery. Having never been there, we weren’t too sure as to what to expect but upon arriving in Lewiston, finding the place was pretty easy. It is located in a giant industrial complex, which formerly was used as a mill I believe and there’s parking to be found in their private lot(free) or public lot(pay). We parked in the former of the two and walked over. While the taproom is underwhelming in size, they do have six beers on tap that you can try. Their flagship Stowaway IPA is definitely available but they also have a few exclusives that they’re piloting as well. We were able to sample their Hops Del Fuego, a smoked IPA and their Cthulu Rising which is brewed with oyster shells and is a black IPA with some pretty good depth of flavor. We picked up three six-packs from there and some glassware. Speaking of which, I’m a huge fan of their glassware. Their beer glasses look exactly like cans which is pretty original and fun and their logo on there is great. Quality stuff. Also available are shirts and various other things but we settled for a fresh pretzel and their mustard which was both affordable and great. Lastly, I was able to put a pin of my hometown on their map. The guy behind the counter was both friendly and knowledgeable and the beer was great. So whether you want to sample or buy beer, or get some glassware or t-shirts, I highly recommend you check this spot out.

Baxter Brewing has a warm place in my heart and a cold one in the Fridge. I really enjoyed the tour here, and especially enjoyed the samples. I love how you can try some of their small batch beers. They are not afraid to experiment here. One time we tried a beer that was made from the same root that Moxie is made of. Yea, it wasn’t a big hit. Stowaway is probably my favorite IPA and I believe the winter seasonal is a stout. Very happy to hear that they are expanding and look forward to enjoying the current and future offerings. Oh, they will now sell you a pint and a pretzel… and they are BOTH well worth it!

Enjoyed a 45 minute history lesson/beer brewing tutorial and two-room tour at the Baxter brewery. The brewery has a great environmentally sound philosophy. The free samples were generous and tasty.

Shared a rainy afternoon with a couple and a trio and had a quaint tour of the newly opened(within the year) brewery. Sampled two tasteful IPAs. Learned a little about the trend of putting craft beers in cans. Left buying two six packs of the Stowaway IPA and a cool coozie made with a couple slap bracelets in neoprene.

Popped into Baxter during a trip home to Maine, and fell in love with it. Being from Colorado, I can’t get Baxter brews out here, but had heard so many great things from the beer-loving community in New England. Baxter currently can only be found in Maine, but I hear they’re hoping to expand soon! Located inside the old Bates Mill 6 building, Baxter has a quaint but perfectly rugged and modern tasting room where you can pick up their merch and sample their beers. On the merch side they’ve got the normal things you’d expect, shirts and hats and hoodies and golf balls and pint glasses — but they’ve also got can-shaped pint glasses, which are incredibly cool(Baxter cans all their beers, they don’t bottle. It’s more environmentally friendly, better for the beer, and it’s a million times more portable than glass!) Another merch item that I absolutely love(and bought) is their Slap-on can Coozie. It’s designed just like a slap bracelet, but instead of being a bracelet it’s a coozie. it fits around any can or bottle, holds itself on nice and tight so you know you won’t drop your beverage, and lets everyone know what your favorite brewery is. Currently Baxter has two beers on tap(and in can,) the Pamola X-Tra Pale Ale and the Stowaway IPA. I’ll save the beer reviews for my blog, which you can find on my profile, but suffice it to say that if you’re into IPAs and you like a good pale ale that’s smooth and mellow, you’re really going to like what Baxter puts out. They’re Maine’s first and only canning only brewery and as their slogan says: «We do what we can. We can what we do.» Pretty funny, and pretty cool. If you’re in Maine, checking out Baxter is a must. Look on their website for tour and tasting room info & times!
