Grotto Pizza Grand Slam

Real simple — service was super slow and rudimentary. Had to wait around at each point of need. Food — pizza is a step above grocery store frozen. Beer glass stunk, so beer was not enjoyable without pinching my nose. With all the new competition in area, don’t waste your time or money on a tourist trap overpriced dive.

Have been going there for a great pizza for at least 15 years, pizza now is frozen so is everything else, shame on you!!! I will not go back, I would rather go to the green turtle in Lewes, for snacks and drinks, then go to grand slam, very disappointed!!!

So we got food from here as delivery and it took over an hour and a half for it to get to our room. The woman said it’ll be about 45 minutes to 1 hour but cmon an extra half hour? What the heck.
We all ordered cheesesteaks with fries and wings. Um the cheesesteaks were literally just cheese and steak. not even mayo on it. The fries were so bland. The best part was the ranch it came with and they don’t even make that. I think it was called Ken’s. Ugh, so disappointed we waited that long for our not even good food!

The pizza is a three star event with canned toppings and crisp crust. However if you are a parent at the beach with kids all day this place rocks! The kids can order whatever they will slightly eat, or poke at and YOU, the hard working tired and hungry parents, can eat while they play in the arcade. They serve beer and mixed drinks. The gelato is amazing.
When we were here Tuesday I noticed a table next to ours ordered burgers. They looked like five star mammoth sized burgers with fresh lettuce and tomato. I might get burgers next time but I’ll always come back here when we visit the beach. Why? Because the kids let me sit down, rest and eat in peace while they play in the arcade.
And there is free popcorn in the arcade!

Me and my wife we had dinner last night at Grotto Pizza, and after a fews hour we left the restaurant rushing to the nearest CVS TO GET SOME PILLS FOR STOMACH BURN, it’s was okay food maybe something is wrong with the
tomatoes sauces? Also they did forget to put cheese on my burger again after the food was served the waiter was gone for almost the whole diner I hope the food quality will change soon.

I came here with my folks for dinner after a day at the beach. It’s a tradition for us to do this, and this time certainly didn’t disappoint!
We started off with a small order of fries, which, consistent with my experience at Grotto’s, was plenty to feed the three of us. The fries came out quite hot, and, again consistent with my experience at Grotto’s, were crispy and delicious, esp. with the malt vinegar. For pizza, we ordered one large cheese and one small margherita. Both of them were thin, had a nice, crispy crust, and were flavorful. The margherita was generously dotted with mozzerella chunks, which were partially melted, and was sprinkled with diced tomatoes, with basil accents. The cheese had Grotto’s signature cheese swirl over the sauce, which was robust and well seasoned. For those unfamiliar with Grotto’s, the normal pizza here is somewhat greasy (see photo for cheese slice), but if you don’t like this, you can dab some of the grease off! (I personally like to enjoy it in all of its greasy splendor, though. :-)) In addition to my pizza, I decided to try some gelato, which I’d never sampled here before. I had a single scoop of the blood orange, and it was quite rich and flavorful (although I encountered a couple small ice chunks). On my way out, I sampled the chocolate, and it was extremely rich and delicious – if you like dark chocolate, you’ll love it!
Our server was quite friendly and attentive. After we’d finished our fries, he brought us clean plates for our pizza, which we appreciated, and he was generous with my single scoop of gelato. The speed of service was comparable to other Grotto’s, with a bit of a wait for the pizza – but hey, it’s worth it. Overall, Grotto’s is a great place to stop for a classic and local favorite meal before heading home from the beach!

Nciole B and I walked 3.3 miles from Irish Eyes and stopped here to wait for our cab. We still had another 5 miles to go and just couldnt make it any further! I ordered the Dewey Buoy and we had the Rustica Plate which is thinly sliced prosciutto, salami, pepper ham, roasted artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, kalamata olives, black olives, pepperoncini and burrata cheese drizzled with balsamic glaze. I have never had burrata cheese, that stuff is amazing! The entire plate was fresh and delicious, but that cheese was creamy and smooth and salty and sweet! This will be going on the late night HH rotation for sure!

If you like real pizza, this is not the place for you.

TThis place seems to be really popular in Delaware so we figured we try it out. They have a sit in area and a small carry out portion that are not connected but we were in a hurry so just ate at a table in the carry out portion.
This place is supposedly known for its pizza but it was pedestrian at best. They did use good peperoni but the sauce had very little flavor and the crust was nothing special either.
I also had an Italian sub which was good but needed more dressing. Also, they wrap the meat around the lettuce tomatoes and pickle which ws different.
The last thing we had was the honey barbecue wings which was the best part. They were the perfect combination of honey and barbecue flavors, not to mention that they actually looked better than they did on the menu as opposed to when you see food that looks great in the pic and when they bring other out to you it looks completely different. Very saucy and full of flavor.
This overall is decent and i would try it again because the wings showed that they do have some good food.

This just in — my wife and I both received food poisoning here. Hers went for 4 days, mine one. And that’s their new rating — a one.
