Last night Bonnie G. and I returned to our old standby in Levittown for what has always been a great chinese meal. Well… as we pulled up first thing we noticed was the name had changed! Sign says Shanghai Goumet… LOL. they spelled the name wrong should have been Gourmet! Anywho, we were hesitant about eating there but went in and checked it out. We saw a familiar face, one of the mgrs. of HD and asked him whats up… New management in place so I asked if the chef was the same and he said yes… Well we sat and gave it a shot.
Their menu has changes on it and there is a section for China Town style specials. We tried a few; Soup Dumplings –new on menu but pretty good considering so few places serve them, Salt & Pepper Pork Chops– Nicely fried all meat chops with scallion and fresh cloves… And also tried Mapo Tofu, a china town staple. Also noted that on the appys that no small BBQ Ribs listed. Questioned with mgr and it was another omission and an error on the new menu.
The wait staff was all new and we missed some of the regular servers who knew us when we came in and proferred great service upon us.
We liked what we had and will return to Shanghai Gourmet in the future to give it a deserved 2^nd shot! Hopefully, they will have fixed the signs spelling by then!

The food here is horrible! I dont get why people are giving this place props! I guess they have horrible tast buds! The food is bland and not very appetizing! Beef lo mein, chicken with eggplant in garlic sauce both bland! I guess people who likes this place have no taste buds whatsoever! Never again will i order from this place! There are no good chinese restaurants in long island except for fortune wheel!

I’ve eaten here several times… The food is outstanding! The owner Kevin, is very nice and is hands on in the dining room. He sees to it that customers have a good experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant…

This is my favorite dine in or take out Chinese place in Levittown. You know it’s a good place when they know you by name and ask about your family members that usually frequent the restaurant with you. I live, tops, 8 minutes away, and the food is almost always ready by the time I get in the car and drive over to pick it up. I have never had a bad dish, whether take out or sit down. Everyone here is so friendly.

Was taking a class across the street at Lisore Real Estate School (highly recommend) and was on lunch break. I was in the mood for Chinese and luckily this place was nearby. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and an egg roll off the lunch menu. I believe it was around $ 7; a little more with tax. The food was pretty good and there was enough to eat at the time and again later. The service was good. I took the food out. It was ready quickly and I didn’t feel sick to my stomach after like I usually do whenever I eat chinese so that was good.

I like Hunan Dynasty. Price is good. Service is okay. It’s nothing to write home about… it’s just good.

The fried rice is amazing ! Chicken wings are not that great… But everything else is so tasty. I would highly recommend this place for dinner.

My favorite dine-​in Chinese food restaurant! This place is my family’s go to joint for special occasions and we have been dining here for years. The wait staff is always friendly and the food is delicious! I haven’t had anything here that’s disappointed me.
My usual order is the Scallion Pancakes app. The sauce that comes with it is so good! For my meal I usually get the Tangerine Chicken, which is fantastic. I’ve never seen or tasted another dish like this at any Chinese restaurant! I also get an order of mixed veggies with garlic sauce which is very good as well. They offer you a choice of white or brown rice with you meal which I really like. Also every table gets delicious fried noodles with duck sauce and a pot of hot tea, which is a nice addition. You also can’t beat the free scoop of ice cream and pineapple and orange slices at the end of your meal as well!
This is a great place and I highly recommend it!

I have been going to this place since before they moved when they were on the corner of Hicksville Rd and Hempstead turnpike… we are talking a long time… it really is the best Chinese food on LI without a doubt… Just found one in queens as well… they cook the same way!!! I am so picky with my Chinese food…135−14 Jamaica Ave in Richmond Hill, but I don’t know the name of this one.

A longtime favorite of my family. Generous portions, fast delivery & decent prices. Highly recommend the Gyoza & Jumbo Shrimp with chili sauce.

I am on the hunt looking for a good old fashioned Chinese restaurant. But where ever I go there is something that causes a hiccup. Hunan Dynasty was on my list of places to try. The décor was nice and I was digging the funky purple lighting. All of the help was friendly and service was fast.
I decided to order the roast pork with veggies and brown rice, and wonton soup. My friend order the jumbo shrimp with broccoli and brown rice, and wonton soup. The wonton soup was good, and not too salty. The pork was tender and tasted like Chinese spare ribs, and the brown rice was tasty too! My friends shrimp was WAY too salty. But, the broccoli was good. Also I have to add, the fried wontons they give when you sit down were different then the norm, but in a good way! All in all not too bad, just have to tell them to calm down on the salt!

I came in and they told me 20 minutes and we ending up waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes! Not to mention I was with my 1 year old niece and 6 others. They put us at the 1^st table next to the door. My family and I was freezing!!! I had to wrap the baby up with all of our scarves even though she had a sweater. They gave us 2 menus for 6 adults came back 7 mins later just to take the drink order. After waiting ten minutes for drinks we waited an additional HOUR for our simple orders to come!!! Not to mention it was DISGUSTING!!! So greasy my food tastes like dirt!!! Nasty greasy oil!!! Btw I only ordered vegetable rice. I could not eat it. The worst experience I ever had in my life! Honestly, as I am writing being I just finished eating I feel like throwing up! I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE & FEEL BAD FOR ANYONE WHO DOES. Chinese take out is 1 000 0000x’s better!!!

Yummy and satisfying Americanized Chinese food! I didn’t know they had sushi but we ordered some salmon sushi and it was surprisingly fresh with thick cuts. I’m going to end up ordering more sushi here, eventually. Also their chicken wings and young chow fried rice were so gooood!

Traveled a ways to check it out because of a recommendation. Reviews and pictures looked promising. Just goes to show you don’t ever know, until you try it for yourself that is. My shrimp & broccoli was ok at best. The shrimp were good size but way undercooked and very salty. The boneless spare ribs we started with were cold and very fatty, no real meat on the dish. Service was a 4. Take my word and stick to Orient, much better quality, taste and service.

Are here tonight with the hubs and my brother. The apps were ok (we had steamed shrimp dumplings and boneless spare ribs). Entrees were better but it wasn’t as spicy as we requested.
I have to say the service was impeccable and the restaurant is very clean.

Its good. They put a lot of extra things like wings and eggroll. for the price you cant beat it. I get the lo mein and chicken and broccoli.
I like fortune wheel better its more authentic.

Definitely not the best Chinese food I’ve had. However, my platter order of chicken and broccoli came with a ton of stuff; there was a bowl of soup, an egg roll, a tea bag, chips, dipping sauces, fried rice etc. It’s worth the money spent but I’d rather go elsewhere next time.

Will not get Chinese food from anywhere else that tastes as impeccable as it does from Hunan. I know some enjoy the Chinese food places that look like the back of a van, but I don’t. Hunan has a gorgeous atmosphere, friendly staff & inexpensive prices for the quality of food! My favorite is the sesame chicken. And for sushi lovers– look no further. Fantastic and fresh rolls.
If you order enough, they’ll remember you and throw in free Cali rolls and spare ribs.

This is another one of my go to places for sit down/​take out chinese food.
It is more upscale than your average take out joint and the food really is fantastic. This place has been around for quite some time and the food never disappoints. My favorite is the generals chicken which is always flavored to perfection and always the best tasting meat.
If you’re looking to try a new spot set your destination to here, you will not have a bad meal!
