George Hafner Oil Burner Svce

Had these guys install a water heater last year. Heater worked fine until this morning (6 months). I called for a technician to come out and see what the problem was. He insisted that in cases like this (no power to the unit) it is not a faulty burner and will likely result in a service charge.
I have never had a customer experience like this in my life. Within moments the conversation had degraded to the point of the owner screaming at me on my phone. He was hostile, rude, condescending and downright nasty. I kept a civil tone, so I am sure it was not anything I said or did. I ended up cancelling the service call, as I don’t need that hostility in my house in front of my family.
After fiddling with the unit, I found the problem: the wiring they did was not secure. Gently pulling on the power cable turned the unit back on. Should have let him service the unit after all!
Seriously, these guys fail for two reasons. 1. Faulty wiring. I now need to have an electrician stabilize and repair the wiring job they did. This could have been dangerous for me and my family! 2. Terrible customer service, the worst I have seen ever. Find another route for your repairs, cannot recommend these guys at all.
* Follow up: The owner called back and apologized while I was typing this review. I think this was important, everyone has a bad day, and owning up to it is respected. Changed my review to 2 stars.

Noticed that the house was cold after dinner and realized that the burner was down. Called at 6:30pm and they said someone would be there by 8pm. Tech showed up 2 mins early and identified the issue as a clogged fuel line. He took care of the line and changed all the filters and within 30 minutes I was good to go. Couldn’t have asked for a more professional service guy!

Had no heat last night and my kids were freezing. Service man came over and fixed the problem with no bs. I’ve had problems in the past with other companies trying to rip me off and for once I feel like I got a good deal.
