Since discovering the world of discount grocery shopping I will never set foot in a tradional grocery store again! After telling a friend how much I liked BB’s in Quarryville she recommended Sharp Shopper in Leola. Let’s just put it this way it was love at first sight! As much as I love the variety of BB’s I will say I like Sharp Shopper more and here’s why: Very good organization — all the drinks are grouped together, soups together, and so on. Large quantity of each item. Unlike BB’s where you might only find one, here’s there’s plenty. No expired foods and banged up items. Although I’m sure they have some I spend $ 80 and my trunk was packed and everything was of current date. Good selection of Amish selection type foods — specialty flours, baking supplies, bulk mixes, nuts, candy… items you’d find in an Amish market Fast check out with baggers — something most local grocery stores lack. Closer to Lancaster then BB’s. Here’s the cons: Prices are slightly higher than BB’s but certainly still a bargain compared to a regular grocery store . More common brands, not really an issue but I did enjoy the higher end and organic brands featured at BB’s Small produce and freezer section — again still a good variety, but most of the frozen foods are processed and there’s less fresh meats. Small fresh produce department — considering it’s location in the heart of Lancaster County’s farmland I expected more. Small baby section — other than diapers and wipes I didn’t see any discount baby foods. The diapers and wipes featured were the same price as other stores. A definite must go again!

Best Grocery Store I’ve ever been to. While they don’t have everything, they do have a lot of snacks, drinks, food, dairy, and vegetables. Sharp Shopper also has a great selection of frozen goods. The best part, everything is cheap dirt cheap. For example, some boxes of cereal are $ 0.99, yogurt, 4 for $ 1.00. The Leola Sharp Shopper has things the Ephrata Sharp Shopper doesn’t have and vice versa.

I wish this place was a bit closer to home! This is a discount grocery shopper’s dream come true. They have spectacular deals on various close outs such as pickles at 3 jars for a dollar or Cheez it cracker snack packs, 8 for a dollar. The selection is huge on the canned and boxed goods and are very reasonable. The refrigerated and produce items were not near the deals as the grocery as the prices were close to retail on near distressed merchandise.

Because of Smilebuilderz screwing up, we have some large emergency room/ambulance bills to pay off(see my review for them) and it is necessary for us to find inexpensive places to buy food. Sharp Shopper is one of the best. It’s basically the size of most grocery stores, and they carry a little of everything. Their inventory changes quite often, and you can find some astonishing deals. If you are concerned about freshness, check the date on the products; however, most packaged foods are good past the sell by date. I would certainly buy canned and boxed products that are out of date.
