I am not a real chocolate person, but now and then I will try something. The husband went nuts in here buying all kinds of stuff to take home. I got a hot chocolate and a macaron and was very pleased with both. Unusual location — not downtown and kind of in a strip mall where you would expect a chiropractor, but worth the hunt.

Their staff is extremely friendly and helpful! Every time I go here they always offer free samples of their chocolate — which is smart because I usually end up buying what I’ve sampled. I love their baked goods and they have amazing coffee. Sure, their chocolate is a little expensive. But it’s gourmet chocolate — not Hershey’s. I highly recommend the dark chocolate coconut bark, it’s absolutely amazing. It has a nice ambiance as well, they usually a talented pianist there on the weekends which makes the experience of shopping for chocolate even more enjoyable.

For folks who complain that Chocolate Springs is pricey, consider two points: 1) it’s the Berkshires, where most food prices are on par with what you’d find in trendy big-city eateries, and, more important, 2) the pastry chefs here use only the finest-quality imported chocolates and a mix of organic, local ingredients and premium imported ingredients. They also make every truffle, biscotto, and chocolate-covered marshmallow by hand, right there in the shop(you can even watch them through the big window), so you’re paying for expertly hand-crafted, artisanal chocolates and desserts. And when the chocolate is this good, I’m willing to pay a little extra. The owner and head pastry chef, Joshua Needleman, studied in France and is something of a local celebrity, but is still nice and down-to-earth and enjoys answering questions. And when it comes to chocolate, he is, quite simply, a genius. I haven’t had a single item at Chocolate Springs that I wouldn’t eat again, but the lavender truffles, green tea truffles, cappuccino mousse cake, chocolate chip cookies, and Mexican hot chocolate(in season, it’s a must have — perfectly spicy and rich, with a hint of cinnamon) are staples for me. The gelato, especially pistachio, should not be missed; it’s supersmooth and creamy, not overly sugary, and the best I’ve had outside of Rome. The coffee is very good, but as a tea drinker, I love looking over the two-page tea menu and choosing something new every time(my new favorite: lychee red tea). The ambience of Chocolate Springs is easygoing, with lots of seating options, including a couple of overstuffed sofas, a communal table, and smaller 4– to 6-person tables. The wait is never more than a few minutes for any drink or drink-and-dessert combo, and service is friendly. They even bring in a pianist once a week or so during the high season, so you can take a load off for a half hour and sip and snack to music. Or you can take your snacks to go and sit outside at the picnic table or gazebo. No matter which option you pick, you’ll have a great experience — and most likely be back for more in no time.

Totally awesome chocolate made right there fresh every day and they told us they only use the best organic and seasonal ingredients. They have a selection of dark, white and milk chocolates, specialty bars, hot chocolate(which is the best for miles around), and gluten free and vegan choices too. We had a specialty bar called Dulce de Leche Bar– Dark which was a special white chocolate with dark chocolate covering, and it was soooo yummy. We also bought a nine piece classic assortment for which we asked for our favorites to be included and they customized the box to our wishes. As we drank our hot chocolate, pigged out on the delicious chocolate, listened to very relaxing music, we could watch them make the chocolates through as huge glass window. It was such a wonderful trip we can’t wait to go back.

Chocolate Springs Café is a must if you are in the Berkshires. Every nook and cranny is filled with handmade chocolate from light to deep dark and everything in between. I had a delightfully rich breakfast of an iced hot chocolate with handmade whipped cream and a signature chocolate cupcake with the best buttercream frosting I have ever had! Both were topped with dark chocolate lace and from first sip to last bite, I was in chocolate heaven!

Received a few complimentary gift cards so we had to stop and check out Chocolate Springs while in town. We weren’t disappointed! Grab a sampler of chocolate and don’t forget to pick up a few macarons. Also the Serious Hot Chocolate was seriously good.

Good chocolate but way over priced. Just not worth the cost. I had a good espresso but with two small items I spent over $ 22! Once was enough

Get ready for the most addictive hot coco because once you have a sip you’re never going to want to get coco from anywhere else again. I used to have it shipped from MA to AZ because I couldn’t get enough. Do yourself a favor and pop in there, relax on one of their comfy couches, and enjoy the luxurious cup. Oh and the cheesecake is just as delicious.

This place is worth the stop. We stopped here on the way to brunch to pick up a six-piece box of truffles. On the way to brunch, we realized that it was a hot day and decided to savor the chocolates while they were in good shape. Three hours later, we went back to get another box for the trip home to Boston. Favorites include Lavender Honey, Practice Your Joy, and Single Malt Scotch. If you can’t make the drive — you can order the chocolates online —

As mentioned in my last review life ate me whole and didn’t spit me out for about a year. I decided to go west and spend a week in the Berkshires to rest, relax, and refocus. On the way back I took a recommendation of a local person and stopped at the Chocolate Springs Café. As a person who spends a small portion of this life in search of the best chocolate I wasn’t about to say no to something new. Upon entering the store there is a mix of old world charm and a hint of curiosity that stirs the magic in a child’s imagination. The feeling was not unlike a shadow’s whisper of something found in the world of Harry Potter. The delicate variety of chocolates were displayed with care and in each clear plastic wrapping was a delicate jewel without a detail unattended to. The chocolate Santa’s were gently brushed with a wisp of gold leaf dust so gingerly that it go unnoticed with no more explanation than the blessing of the resident chocolate fairy on each perfectly crafted treat. The sheen took me aback as well. I can honestly say thin in my entire life I have not seen such an expertly delivered tempering on the chocolate which resulted in the most glorious snap and visual perfection. Further in in wandered looking at each of displays trying to intelligently select which of these beauties was going to come home with me. The first thing I noticed were the Venus chocolates [AKA Nipples of Venus in design]. Fillings of sugar plums, seasonal white chocolates, marbled peanut butter cups, paper thin chocolate bark, clusters of nuts, creamy caramel sticks and it just went on. I couldn’t decide. I finally managed by force of sheer will to turn my head to the single piece display case and went to town making my own 36 piece box. I included various tea infused pieces, lavender honey, caramels, and a curious caramel white chocolate hybrid that I have never seen. So I had this part taken care of and the counter person was exceptionally helpful and friendly. I wasn’t done though as I had a four hour drive home and needed the comfort of knowing the fill Chocolate Springs Café experience. Next was the cake. Such gorgeous mini masterpieces of like cake and flavorful toppings. I chose three to bring home. The All Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake, Brandied Raspberry Chocolate Mousse Cake, and Bada-Bing Cherry Cake. In each case there were tender light bases of chocolate cake or chocolate sponge. The dark chocolate mousse was quite rich and well pronounced in cocoa flavor. The thin layer of raspberry mousse packed quite a wallop of unexpected flavor. Simply incredible! Now I was done… or was I? I had to have something for the road as it was still in the breakfast hours of the day and I deserved it. There were a few varieties of scones and I selected the chocolate chip orange scone as well as a cup of hot chocolate. I eagerly bit into the scone as the engine was turned on and this was a scone with a different set of rules than a traditional New England style. The appearance was an unassuming triangle with a lovely sheen baked in. I was taken aback at the delicate bite and texture rather than the heavier worked dough I’m used to. One of my superpowers is to be able to taste something and be able to recreate it in three tries or less. I’m certain I could come close had I still had a few crumbs to work with. As best as I could tell it was made with cake flour leaving no trace of developed gluten. The cake was quite rich as well full of butter and cream flavors. There wasn’t a strong taste leavening agents either. There was a delicious orange flavor and aroma which tied together perfectly with the chocolate chips. No one flavor overpowered the other. The hot chocolate had me do a double take. At first I was a bit disappointed as it was quite thin, and the cocoa flavor was not well pronounced. After a few sips I realized this was deliberate and intentional as this was to be a beverage to enjoy and uplift rather than weigh one down. By itself the drink increases its grip on the senses. Rather than blow one away from the first sip in encourages the pallet to reflect on the last sip finding new depths of delicate flavors and mouth feels with each sip. A lot of thought went into the beverage to couple with the pastry enjoyed, again not overshadowing nor falling into the background with its match up. The scone and hot chocolate together surpassed the legendary party in my mouth, nay it cascaded into my mouth as angels’ ballet and danced ever so lovingly down my throat leaving the early morning memories of a Parisian tryst for me to ponder and reminisce until even now as I’m type my review. I think I spent just under $ 100.00 on the whole pilgrimage to this hidden mecca and yes I will say, it was worth it! The only thing missing was an red chocolate windmill in the entry way. I somehow forgot to pick up a few macaroons. I guess I’ll have to go back. Until next time Chocolate Springs …

We wandered in here right before closing and grabbed a few already packaged things to go. It’s probably good we didn’t eat them until the next day when we were out of the area because I would have gone back and bought the place out! We picked out a Coconut turtle cluster and a chai chocolate bar. The caramel in the cluster was probably the best caramel I have ever had. The chai flavors in the bar were spot on and delicious. Run, don’t walk here.

I have two friends who used to work at chocolate springs, one who was a cook and one who worked the front. Both of them can’t stop going ON and ON about how GREAT chocolate springs is. I had to try it for myself. It’s an adorable café with a good amount of seating, cases with ice cream, truffles, and baked goods, and a kitchen you can look into. I went with my friend who had worked there, and she was telling me what’s good to try. I ended up getting two macarons and a chocolate covered oreo. The chocolate macaron was delicious. It was a bit puffier/taller than the other macarons, and was actually quite brownie like with a crisp meringue shell. The pistachio macaron was very decadent. The inside was almost gooey/melty. It packed a nice pistachio flavor that almost tasted like peanut butter. The oreo, which could have been just a plain ol’ chocolate covered oreo, was more than that. While it was an oreo covered in chocolate… the cookie was extra crispy, the chocolate fresh and rich… it was perfect. The one place for improvement is price. It’s pretty darn expensive. Especially the truffles. It was hard not to be wary about it. Then again, I don’t know what the true price of chocolate is.
