1st night in the area and we will probably not be back. It seemed very disorganized and confusing between the two different types of services. It was disappointing because we took our mom there. The food was cold, primary waitress was unprofessional, our 2nd was 100% better. The front clerk was horrendous with no people skills. Chef Ramsey needs to come clean it up…

Took my wife here for her birthday with about 15 of our friends several months ago. We had a reservation and show up on time but they gave it away to another party. The«manager» tried to put us at some card tables in the corner but we decided to wait for a regular table to open. After about an hour we got seated. The waitress was rude and the service was very poor. The food came out cold and our drinks remained empty for most of the meal. We talked to the manager and she told us it was our fault for not accepting the first table they offered us. Save yourself the anger and frustration by going anywhere else…

this location is now closed. We showed up for dinner and the building was completely dark. No signage no anything. After searching on the internet we found out their last day was the eighth of September.

Awesome Tri Tip veggie omelette was massive! Mom and I shared, then saved the rest for later. ;) Fabulous friendly staff are very hospitable, efficient and helpful. Great location across from the motels, allows us to walk to and from meals. Very Happy Campers!

My hubby loves eating here you get plenty of food and has decent prices. Don’t get me wrong food is good but I like to be waited on when I eat out. Don’t like how you order food at counter then sit down.

Came here for my son’s birthday lunch. We ordered from the bar and had a seat in the main dining room. My husband had a tri tip sandwich which was pretty good and my son had a hamburger with really nice thick bacon. I had the ribs which were cold and tough and covered in kinda gross BBQ sauce. Since we ordered from the counter we didn’t really get any follow up service once our food arrived but I guess you can’t expect much else. Overall it was an ok dining experience. Not sure I’d pay for the fancy side of the restaurant considering the quality of food. Would probably stick with using it as a quick burger joint and go to Tahoe Joes in Visalia or the Palace in Lemoore for a nice steak dinner.

My wife is trying to book a party there and it’s literally 329% more expensive per guest to add 20 people. I don’t understand.

Ethel Reds is a great place to eat at a great price, family friendly close to motels and not too far from Sequoia National Park and Yosemite National Park, and Tachi Hotel and Resort. You should definitely try the pancakes because they are very light, fluffy, naturally sweet, and melt in your mouth delicious. Every thing here is economically priced at a value for your hard earned dollar. Come enjoy and relax in a western style atmosphere.

Came here for father’s day and I do have to say the price was good. But the food did not have any flavor what so ever. I will not return here. Just a waste of money.

Pros: The food and drinks was semi decent. The onion rings were good. Cons: The prices and ordering process was confusing at first. It seemed like a fast food joint instead of a sit down restaurant during lunch. The worst parts are the booths. They are extremely dirty and unkept. We found the seats and table sticky, dirty silverware and a fork in between the seats.

Ethel Reds is giving it away for breakfast, and thank goodness they are, otherwise it would have been a 1 star review. I came here for dinner once and was very disappointed. I’m not even going to talk about it, that’s how disappointing it was. I came back for breakfast because my husband heard they were serving up a great breakfast deal. So here we are. Breakfast has redeemed this place in my eyes. Other Unilocalers are right to note that the t-bone steaks are cut thin, so order one cook temp down. My husband and I both like medium rare(erring on the rare side) so we each ordered rare. He had some pink in his steak, I did not… but, to be honest, I didn’t mind because the steak was still juicey. I thought the price for what we got was amazing, and I’m not easily impressed(esp since I was already put off by this place’s dinner food). You order at the counter, grab your drinks and flatware and find a seat. It’s pretty relaxed. The coffee is free, the food came out fairly quick, listen for them to call your number and just wave and they’ll bring it over. The potatoes were yummy, had onion and bell peppers cooked with them, eggs tasted fresh, steak, as I said, wasn’t cooked right, but was moist and had decent flavor. I really can’t complain. I got a nice piece of toasted bread and we ordered some sides as well. I got the biscuits and gravy(which I took to go because I was stuffed) and my husband got pancakes, which I tasted and they were quite good. So, that’s what we have. Come for breakfast, it’s a great value. You’re not going to get the best cut of steak, but you’re paying 5 bucks… get real. Don’t bother for dinner, you will not respect yourself in the morning.

The owner of this flop house should be ashamed, the three dinners were horrible, both rib eye steaks were tough, salty and chewed, my wife’s filet mignon was cut in half and tasted like it was pan fried and microwaved, it even had a crust of toughness on top. The bread was real good, the mashed potatoes tolerable and side salad eatable we won’t be back.

Poor quality steak. Sides were bland. Ordered a new York strip medium, was about 10oz, and dry as a bone. It looked like it had been pre-cooked and reheated in a microwave. My friend ordered the same thing with the same results. I should have walked right out when I saw that you order at a walk up counter. Unfortunately I was traveling and stuck at the hotel across the street. I’ll try the vineyard next door next time. Or, if you have a car, drive 1 mile to the nice downtown area for a good restaurant.

I am giving Ethel’s only a three because this is not the type of place I would highly recommend and I may or may not come back. Prices are cheap for a reason. My breakfast of steak and eggs was only $ 5.00. Portions were sufficient enough that I did not leave hungry. Steak was a thin cut T-bone cooked to order. Hash browns were actually a quartered potato with onions and green pepper. Just a heads up if you have never been here, you place your order, pour your own fountain drinks and pick up your napkin and silverware before seating yourself. Waitresses will come out of the kitchen yelling your order number so make sure you pay attention to your number. There is a lot of off street parking so no worries there. It is easy to find since it is right across the street from the local Best Western.

I don’t get why this place has so many bad reviews… You get what you pay for! This place is by no means fancy! First off, it’s in Lemoore(which has ONE Starbucks and the closest Target is in Hanford — a whole other city!!)! Second, I don’t get the Unilocalers here and in the Fresno area in general. Ya’ll are off the wall with expectations and star ratings — No consistency whatsoever. Let me show you how to give an Elite review: BREAKFAST review: $ 5 Dollars for EVERYTHING!!! My T-Bone Steak was yummy and made to my liking. Since it’s a $ 5 steak, I knew I wasn’t going to get the choicest cut of meat. It’s $ 5 folks! As I expected, the T-bone was cut thin. So if you like your steak medium rare, order it rare. If you like your steak well done, order it medium. Just remember its a thin steak, so it cooks fast. It came with three eggs, a buttered side of so fluffy bread, and country potatoes. All yummy and worth $ 5! The butter milk pancakes were delicious. I usually prefer my pancakes more thick and cakey, but this one came out crispy and thin. The texture and taste complimented each other very well. There were three large pancakes. Of course I shared it with my fiancé, however, it was soo good that I ate two out of the three cakes. The future Mother-in-law had the pulled pork sandwich. Of course I asked for a taste! She knows about my Unilocal Review habits when dining. LOL. She wasn’t even embarrassed when I started taking pictures of the menu and the food. The pork was warm, tender, juicy, and sauced to perfection. Large amounts of meat on two pillowy soft buns. Pretty sure it was the same type of bread that we had with our meals. The service: The future Father-in-Law(yes, we were on a double breakfast date) accidentally ordered two meals at his excitement for $ 5 breakfast. The waitress was able to remove the extra meal with no fuss, even though they started making it. Service was fast and we got everything we needed with little to no wait time. Pretty good service for a SUPERCHEAP place to eat. Better than Ihop or Denny’s service for sure! DINNER: I arrived from Sacramento on Friday night and the MIL just got home from work and had not cooked anything. So she goes to Ethel Reds for some food because of the 5 meals for $ 20 deal they have going on. She comes back with BBQ Beef Ribs and Tacos: OMG!!! 1. The ribs: when I first opened the pink box, I was skeptical at presentation. They were huge beef ribs with what looked like BBQ sauce splattered over them. Not appetizing at all. However, curiosity got the best of me and I tasted it. SUPER tender and juicy. The meat was fall of the bone. The bbq sauce was actually really good. Not overpowering like I had expected. Glad I gave it a go! I ate 3 huge ribs because they were so yummy! 2. Steak Tacos: I ate four tacos they were so delicious. In the platter they had 5 – 6 tacos. Flavored well, not too salty at all. Just squeeze some lemon and you don’t even need salsa since the flavor was soo good. HUGE5 meal portion for $ 20. I’d definitely come back here for breakfast again!!! and order some dinner for take out!

I give them points for trying. We’ve eaten here about 6 times. The food is inconsistent, the service is inconsistent and the method for serving people is kind of 3 restaurants in one… you can eat in the bar(but order at a to go type window) or sit in the ‘fancy’ part and have regular wait service or have a combination of those two… We have had really good individual dishes(like onion rings) one time and the next, they were horrible… We will probably go back, but, our expectations are that it could be good, but it will probably be inconsistent… which is a weird thing to be consistent at inconsistency. The people seem nice there, I suspect that the management hasn’t figured out who they want to be just yet and so they can’t train their folks.

Milk in glass bottles. I was so impressed by the milk in glass bottles. I wish they had milk with cream, but they did have flavored milk which is something new to me. No duh, I’ve had chocolate milk at school, but this is creamy fresh milk in a glass bottle by a local company. I tried the root beer flavor, even though I hate root beer and not to mention, I am lactose-intolerant. It was pretty good. I think this company needs to move to the bay area and start to eco-friendly, health-conscious, local-focused San Franciscans. Back to Ethel’s: I also had the special, steak for $ 5 or something ridiculously cheap. Not gourmet steak, but then again, it ain’t gourmet prices. A hearty meal, a clean restaurant, nice wooden décor. If I was in the area, I would definitely come back. Beats Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.

Country theme that has reasonable prices including all drinks for $ 3.00 beside Patron and Don Juli… That’s still a good deal if you ask me! You order your food counter style and are free to sit anywhere you’d like. Try it out :)

My DH and I went to Ethel Red’s for breakfast. We loved the décor — very authentic western and well done. We had the linguica sausage, eggs and bacon, oatmeal and the fruit bowl. All that food was only $ 11.00 and all of it was good. The fruit bowl was served in a medium-sized serving bowl — enough to feed 3 – 4 people. Ordering fruit is often risky but everything here was ripe sweet. The oatmeal was served with raisins in an iron kettle — enough to feed 3 – 4 people as well. It was the real deal, too. I think instant oatmeal is an insult to the oat. The oatmeal was tasty on its own but brown sugar and butter was provided. The linguica sausage is kind of like a hot link but less fatty, but flavorful with a tiny kick. Even the free coffee was delicious. The staff was very friendly and cheerful. If we lived in the area, Ethel Red’s would be a regular stop.

So this place has changed names/owners/management too many times to count, but yet the results seem to be the same. However, I had the opportunity to buy a discount coupon and I thought what the heck we will try it. I ended up buying 2 coupons, and then gave one to a relative for their birthday. We stopped in at 330pm on august 27th, 2011. I remember the time specifically because when we were seated, we were given a lunch menu. While the items looked decent, I had my mind set on a steak since it is a steakhouse and thats the whole reason I went there. The waitress said that we could NOT order off the dinner menu, because it was not 4pm. I said well it’s only 330 and by the time we order our drinks we should be good, right??? WRONG!!! She came back from the kitchen and the cook said no dice. Fine, whatever I’ll order off the lunch menu. I ordered a Steak Sandwich, and figured I’d just take the bread off and eat the steak w/some A-1, problem solved… WRONGAGAIN!!! The waitress brought out my food and I took one look and said ‘miss, I am sorry, I ordered a STEAK sandwich’ and she said that IS a steak sandwich. This had to be some sort of joke, the meat was dry and not even worthy of a philly sub sand. My daughter ordered a steak salad and guess what… she got REAL pieces of STEAK in her salad!!! How hard would it have been for them to serve me the same thing, minus the salad. I didnt even eat my sandwich, and told the waitress I was not happy with it. She did not even take it off my bill. I asked for a dessert menu and was told they dont have one, but they had a dessert tray. After I looked I chose the chocolate cake thing. It came out, I took a bite and it was DRY and had been in the fridge for some time. It was horrible too. Got our bill, and the worst part was not that she didnt take my ‘steak’ sandwich off, that misreable little cake cost $ 10.99!!! Are you kidding me??? I could go to a grocery store and get a bigger/better cake for that price. I apologized profusely to the relative to whom I gifted the other coupon to. We will NEVER go here again.
