Then, when attempting out it took 45 minutes.
Errrg.

Best gingerbread cookie ever!!! Craving for some sweet during grocery shopping? I just swing by the bakery and found one of my kids favorites: Gingerbread Cookies. I bought one for my son, but the smell of fresh baked goods betrayed me. During the trip from Shoppers to my house the cookie was gone. Don’t tell my son.

$ 5 for a dozen colossal doughnuts. How can you go wrong? I’d take these over DD any day. Get them in the AM and they still might be warm :). This rating is only for the doughnuts. I don’t really do my grocery shopping here, but I do get my doughnut fix here :)

I regularly shop here because I think their produce selection is better than any of the local grocery stores. The bakery also always smells fantastic. The rest of the store may not have as much selection as other larger grocery stores, but I am able to find at least 90% of my grocery items here. Most of their prices are really good, but I have noticed on some items such as baking mixes and soups that other stores like Target or Wal-​Mart have better prices.
The staff is super friendly as well. Any time I pass an associate, he or she will stop to greet me and ask if I need any help finding anything. I like that personal touch :) I also like that there is always someone there ready and willing to help me bag my groceries if I decide to go through the «you check» lane. I am also usually able to get through the store really quickly because it is never overly crowded.
The only thing I would change is doing away with those darn «car carts» for kids! LOL They are impossible to push through the store! :)

DOUGHNUTS! Enough said.

Had a craving for their famous Colossal donuts so went to pick some up yesterday and noticed little bugs flying around inside the donut cases. Upon closer inspection noticed several trays of donuts were covered in these bugs. Can’t speak to the quality of the store as a whole but for me this was enough to turn me away.

As far as grocery stores go, I am willing to sacrifice service and fanciness for good prices, or vice versa. But the Shopper’s Food Warehouse in Leesburg actually scores fairly high on both counts.
As you’d expect from a Shoppers, the prices tend to be pretty good overall, and if you specifically look for sale items, they can be excellent. Their prepared foods, such as deli and salad bar items, aren’t quite as «pretty» as other stores, and are a bit over priced to me, but I don’t usually go to a discount grocery store for prepared foods, so that doesn’t really concern me. Their bakery items, especially their donuts, are excellent and fairly priced.
Now, on to the service. You don’t really expect good service from Shoppers, but as I mentioned before, I pretty much expect either good service or cheap prices, rarely both. At this Shoppers, the management always seems eager to help and quick to fix any problems. There are occasionally pricing issues in the produce section, but on the few occasions that has happened, the manager is always quick to fix it, usually even more so in my favor than the price should have been.
As the previous reviewer mentioned, the layout is a bit unusual (who would expect to find condensed milk ONLY in the coffee aisle and not in the baking aisle?), but once you get used to their idiosyncrasies, it isn’t really a problem. And as with most stores that have a large international customer base, their produce section is fairly diverse and pretty fresh compared to the other stock grocery stores in the area.
Although I don’t look forward to going to Shoppers with the same zeal as to Wegmans, it is a decent grocery store, with excellent prices and good service. I would recommend Shoppers to any cost-​conscious consumer as a good «every day» grocery store.

Great produce. The meat isn’t always the best price but look for sales. I am not a fan of the layout but the sales are good. Combine with coupons and call it a day.
