The center stone in my engagement ring became loose, and I brought it here for the prongs to be tightened. I was quoted $ 60. Later on, the jeweler suggested that the prongs be reinforced so that the stone wouldn’t become loose again. I said ok, which was a HUGE mistake. When i got back my ring, the prongs were really bulky and not symmetrical. Also, she added gold to my platinum setting so that the ring now had a yellowish tint. Really? Really. She then charged me $ 85 because of the extra work saying she did me a favor because normally she whould charge $ 200. Yeah, thanks. She kept saying that the stone won’t fall out now and that’s what I asked for. I didn’t think I had to specify that I didn’t want my ring to be redesigned. I thought for $ 60 she couldn’t do too much damage. Wrong. I’ve since had the ring fixed by the jeweler who originally made my ring. He charged me $ 500 to redo the head of the ring. He also noticed that two of the diamond side stones had been burned and needed to be replaced. Nice, right? If you have anything delicate and valuable, don’t bring it here.
