UPDATE: Bombay Palace has closed. My heart is broken. I don’t know if I’ll ever recover from this. The owner wasn’t getting enough business. I talked to him(I was a regular there) and he showed me all of his bills. They were stacking up and in the 10’s of thousands of dollars. I felt so sorry for him. He came all the way from New York and bought the best Indian Chefs he could. His food was the best I’ve ever had. I’m very sad about this. What’s the deal with the locals here? They just want McDonald’s and BBQ? Come on!

The buffet was sparse and not very tasty.

We have been here twice — the owner is very friendly and accommodating. The food is really good as well. I think that anyone who likes Indian food or wants to try it would like this restaurant. The buffet is daily from noon — 3pm and is really good as well.

Yum! I was so happy with this place. It’s nice to know the KC burbs have some kind of awesome ethic food. Came here for dinner with a couple friends and everyone at the table was happy with their food. I wanted to orer everything but I settled for the palace thali that came with mulligatawny soup, basmati, naan, dal, something creamy with peas, rice pudding, and I chose the lamb curry. Totally great, and I had plenty of leftovers. The service was… strange. I really don’t know what to say about it except you really need to come for the food. Dinner was great, and I’m looking forward to stuffing myself at a lunch buffet in the near future.

This is the best local indian food available. I’ve had dinner off the menu and the buffet lunch. My favorites are lamb saag and eggplant«bartha» — my partner had the milder chicken tiki masala and loved it. The owner is present and very engaged in his customers. Check it out!

I have done my fair share of Indian food. You have to watch it… this stuff will kill your afternoon post-buffet. But it is so good. It is usually a great value, too. Those living single or with leftovers stocked for their house mates can just skip dinner. :) Bombay had many of the usual dishes out, but maybe two more veggie selections. I tend to stay on the veggie track so I can stay awake later. lol There was a veggie korma, a spinach corn, and a green bean dish. There was also a lentils dish that I will assume was veggie. And then a cold potato concoction with mint and cilantro that was different, but GOOD. So I was satisfied to be sure.

This is the best Indian food around. The lamb saag is a must. We were hesitant to go back to the palace after they changed owners last summer and read a couple of average reviews. We went to the buffet one afternoon in the fall and to our surprise it was even better than before! We have been back four other times now. This last time was for dinner and we started with the Bombay palace platter which was tempura battered fried veggies with various seasonings. Then came dinner. I had the lamb vindaloo a spicy(and I mean SPICY) red sauce with melt in your mouth tender lamb. I enjoy spicy food and this was spot on, but not so spicy that you could not enjoy the flavor of the protein. My wife had the lamb saag which is the almost sinfully rich spinach sauce.(Incredible) this place is a real gem.

I couldn’t be more pleased that some of the best Indian food in the Kansas City area is right here in Lee’s Summit. Bombay Palace came under new ownership in mid-2010, and the food has improved dramatically since then. Now, this place rivals the best examples of Indian cuisine in the metro – and is just plain good, whatever your point of comparison. Whether you’re familiar with Indian food or not, the lunch buffet is probably the best place to start. You can sample a number of different dishes and get a taste for them all. Nearly every dish is an excellent example of its type, from the vegetable korma to the surprisingly delectable saag paneer to nice renditions of standards like chicken tikka masala and lamb korma. All have a pleasant mix of flavors and spices without being too spicy-hot for the average palate – nicely accessible and fitting for a buffet, without being bland in the least. The included naan bread is quite good, as is the tandoori(babecued) chicken. The selection rotates from day to day, and you’ll want to explore. The chefs obviously know what they are doing, because some of the more exotic, less familiar dishes are among the best. There are lots of different options in the lunch spread. Great value there at eight or nine bucks. Prices are reasonable for dinner, too, with the same excellent food. The atmosphere is clean and pleasant, and the service is good. The owner, Vincent, frequently greets customers and may serve you himself. He’s usually happy to help with a recommendation for what to order, as well. I continue to be amazed that Indian food of this caliber in my neck of the woods. The more established places down in Westport and Waldo can’t compare. Bombay Palace is worth the drive from anywhere in the KC metro area, if you enjoy good Indian food or simply would like to try a solid example one of the world’s best cuisines.

We used to love going to this restaurant before the management changed over the summer. The food had been wonderful, and the service was amazing. The guy in charge had been such a sweetheart. We’ve been there twice for dinner in the past couple months, and both experiences were pretty bad. The guy who’s in charge now is really unfriendly and doesn’t seem that experienced. When we went a few months ago, he had a young kid working as a waiter. He had no skills whatsoever and was so unprofessional. We also noticed that the food wasn’t as good – the sauces aren’t as creamy as they used to be. The food isn’t bad now, it’s just not as good as it used be. We also had to ask for a refill on our chai, which I’ve never had to do in an Indian restaurant. When we went this month, it was an even worse experience. They had stopped serving the complimentary cracker appetizer they used to serve; there was a fly buzzing around our food the whole time we were eating; the seat hadn’t been cleaned off; our chai never got refilled; we ran out of water and didn’t get our glasses refilled for 5 – 10 minutes because the guy was talking on the phone; when we did get our glasses refilled, he spilled a large amount of water on the table and never cleaned it up; it took forever for him to bring us our bill. We had been so excited to have an Indian restaurant closer to home. It’s really sad what’s happened to this place. We decided we will not be going back. We’re going to try the new fast food-style Indian place in Lee’s Summit, and if that doesn’t work, we’ll go back to driving into the city for Indian.

Bombay Palace has sophisticated décor and a very clean and quiet atmosphere. We(my mother and I) decided to try their lunch buffet. The buffet is $ 8.99 with a decent selection of choices. My main concern is that I was completely intimidated by the buffet. I know absolutely nothing about Indian food and could not understand the names of the food at the buffet. I would have appreciated English translations of the dishes so I that knew what was on my plate! I ate all sorts of spinach/rice/chicken looking things. Our waiter mumbled a lot but was very keen on water re fills. Overall, a pleasant atmosphere and good price. If only I knew what I put in my stomach…

The food was good and the waiter was very nice, it appears that they are under new management which disappoints me as I liked being greeted by my Indian friend in the suit, it was very clean I went at lunch, the buffet was tasty but I agree with other reviews stating the food was mild, ironically a older lady came in with her daughter she presented some old drink tickets for a adult beverage, he very nicely explained he would not accept them because of being under new management I felt maybe he should have taken them to keep customers coming back for a very minimal expense, he also explained nothing in the buffet was to hot. As I was at the counter paying I asked how come none of the buffet food was spicy, his rational was he didn’t want to scare off customers, but he explained all you have to do is request some spicy hot sauce to add to your food and they will gladly get you some. Overall still good food but very mild lunch buffet, but wouldn’t detour me from coming back.

Good Indian food in Lee’s Summit, MO? Yes we can! This place was immaculately clean, the manager/owner and staff were as friendly as they come, and the food was delicious. The owner wears a jacket and tie every day and greets customers by name. Everyone who works here seemed to take great pride in their jobs and creating some of the best Indian food in KC — even if it is in a strip mall. Although we haven’t tried it yet, they do have a lunch buffet option available that looked terrific. If you are bored with the usual chain restaurants, buzz on over to Bombay Palace for a surprisingly good dining experience.
