Indian food is a hard thing for me to pinpoint. I know I like it when I see it, but I can rarely reiterate what about it that draws me — is it the yogurt cucumber sauce? The basmati or saffron rice? The potato veggie dishes(of whose breed I cannot define)? Is it the Naan? I think I figured it out the last time I visited Mirchies. It’s the fulfillment of eating well and being FULL off a plate of rice and veggies! Mirchies is a homegrown Indian restaurant started by a lovely Lee’s Summit couple who aspire to share their cultural heritage in a fresh and fast way that’s appealing to even those who don’t like Indian food. Their menu is set up much like Chipotle, where you start with a base(rice, beans, etc) and grow your plate from there, adding anywhere from 1 – 3 «main» foods on your plate. In their words, «Step 1: Choose your Thali(plate); Step 2: Choose Rice or Naan; Step 3: Choose your Entrees; Step 4: Choose a Topping.» My veggie favorite is the Chaana(chickpea and spices) and the Green Beans and coconut over basmati rice with a ton of yogurt sauce on top. My husband is in LOVE with their Indian hamburger with curry. In his words, «I don’t know what it was, but it was amazing.» The dude literally licked his plate clean after inhaling the thing. Lordy… The staff here are always very friendly and helpful, willing to give you samples and genuinely interested in you enjoying the food. There is plenty of parking and space for a group. Oh, and don’t forget to end with one of their chocolate creeps — yum!

I was truely taken back at how good and authentic the food tasted! Had been hearing about Mirchies for a while now and I feel terrible I did not take time to go visit this place… cause was missing some darn good Indian food all this while. I especially could not get over the shrimp curry in coconut sauce… super delisious and easy on pungent spices… I absolutely loved every bite of it. As I entered and waited on my friend to arrive. i could not wait to get my hands on their food as it smelled soo good. I will get back there as often as I can even if I have to drive close to 17miles oneway! :-) Love Mirchies!

Anyone complaining about the«authenticity» of the cuisine here is clearly missing the point. Consider it Indian-inspired and compare it to any of the nearby national chains offering«upscale» fast-food and you’ll agree it’s the better option. The prices, portions, and ingredients are better than average, and the staff is friendly and eager to please. The rices(coconut and brown) aren’t what you might expect from traditional Indian places, but both are still good enough to alternate regularly or have a little of both. The chicken and vegetable kormas were a little spicier than I’d request(I’m a huge wuss.) but still very good, although both could use a little more sauciness. I have a feeling they’re still getting used to fluctuating volume and fine tuning their preparation procedures, which is probably affecting the moisture content. Taking the lid off each item to show the customer is nice but probably not a good thing for the integrity of the food in the long run? The highlight so far has been the shredded pork, and I could drink cups upon cups of the yogurt sauce on the side. The naan is definitely not traditional but still very tasty and excellent for dipping in a side of the pepper hummus. A little more variety would be nice, or a rotation, but so far the options are satisfactory. I’ll be back because the price, portions, and attitude are right on. Don’t be a sucker for easily identifiable fluorescent logos and bland menus, and check this place out.

Went to Mirchies when it first opened and have hit it a few times since. On our first trip, we went early, around 5:30 pm. On subsequent trips, we arrived a bit later, closer to 7:30/8pm. Disappointingly, the food was much better when we dined earlier. On our later trips, the shrimp in the shrimp curry tasted horribly overcooked, as it had been sitting in the dish being kept hot for hours. Bummer. Same thing with the chicken korma, but luckily chicken holds up a bit better than shrimp in that situation. Naan, soups, and rice were fine at the later hour, as they should be. I love the concept here and especially love the opportunity to enjoy flavorful ethnic food in the land-o-chains. That food just needs to be a bit more consistent for me to continue forking over my dough.

Just had Mirchie’s for the first time and was blown away! It was quick, fresh, and delicious. This place is set up a lot like a Chipotle. You go in, choose your entrée & side(rices or naan) and a topping. So, there are a lot of possibilities. My husband and I both got the Chicken Korma w/the coconut rice and Mirchies chat. to go The serving size was pretty big, we probably could have shared a bowl. We also got an order of naan with hummus which, to be honest, was overpriced. We only received a small amount of hummus and the flavor of that was lackluster, but that wasn’t worth removing a star in my rating. The naan was made fresh in front of us and was excellent. The combination of flavors in our dish was amazing. My husband and I have declared Mirchies our new once-a-week weekend eatery.

I really like Chipotle and I LOVE Indian food. Someone had the bright idea of putting the two concepts together. Oh man! The thing I love about Chipotle is that it works by the same assembly line production approach as a sandwich shop. It’s fast food, but you can see the ingredients that are gonna slosh around in your belly later on. The ingredients are self-explanatory. I could go on, but this isn’t a Chipotle review. Whoever took the concept of the assembly line to Mirchie’s perhaps didn’t realize that Indian food in Lee’s Summit, MO is likely going to warrant some explanation. Everyone’s familiar with tortillas, refried v black beans, hot v mild salsa, sour cream, whatever. Not everyone is familiar with raitha vs chaat, naan, chicken korma vs shrimp curry. Somebody’s got some ’splainin to do, which to me defeats the purpose of this whole thing. You want people to move through the line fast, but you have to tell them what every ingredient is. The thought of Indian fast food is also a little scary, but I figure it’s no scarier than an Indian buffet(which I LOVE) so I gave it a try. Fortunately we didn’t have the problem of waiting in line behind people who had never heard of korma, as there was only one other person in the place. The food was just fine. I wasn’t particularly impressed or disgusted. I would liken it to an Indian version of cafeteria food, really. But I’ve had worse at other Indian buffets in town, so. The curry(particularly, shrimp curry and chicken korma) was not at all spicy(ie, flavorful or hot), but again, mostly what I expected. Unfortunately, it was a little on the too-salty side, so that was a turnoff. The coconut rice was pretty tasty, however, and offset the blandness/saltiness of the curries. However, no basmati rice. WHAT? Also, the naan was really flat(yes, more than usual) and small, and I longed for more substance. The chaat helped spice up the dishes a little bit, and the raitha was tasty, but since the purpose of raitha is to cool the spiciness of the dish, it was kinda pointless. The samosas were tiny little envelopes that didn’t resemble a real samosa in any possible way, made out of beef or pork(can’t remember) and goat cheese and wrapped in an egg roll wrapper. Greasy little bastards too. Skip these. It sounds like I’m completely dogging this place, but I didn’t hate it. Honestly, for Indian fast food in this town, it’s probably what you’re gonna get. The value is decent… You can get rice or naan with 3 entrees for $ 8.99. $ 7.99 for a combo with 1 entrée, a drink, and both rice and naan. It’s also an all right place if you want to introduce Indian food to a person who’s never experienced it, because it’s much less intimidating when it’s in a Chipotle-like setting with Mix 93.3 blaring in the background. But considering that you can score an all-you-can-eat buffet at Korma Sutra for around $ 11 or so, and have food that in my opinion is much more worthwhile, there’s no question.

I bought my mom to Mirchies. My mom would give it 3 stars, but I’m giving it 5. I had a craving for coconut rice, and coconut green beans, and only one place would suffice. I had the coconut rice and coconut green beans, with yogurt raiti, and naan. I had a long debate with my self whether I would eat chicken korma, or coconut green beans, both, or what? My mom had shrimp curry, over brown rice, which I sampled. She thought it was a bit spicy. It was good. Not too spicy, but not many shrimp in the sauce. The green beans and coconut rice is totally worth the trip. I’m sure the price we pay here for food you would pay double that at fine Indian restaurants. That’s why I like this place. I love Chipotle’s. Mirchie’s is cool, like an Indian food Chipotle’s. The staff was great. They let my mom sample everything. There is no other place like it. Oh and, the serving bowls with lids are reusable, and will be washed in our dishwasher, and used over again.

I really like Mirichies and am a fan. After having a HORRIBLE experience at Bombay Palace I was thrilled to find fresh, quick, and easy Indian. I would recommend the Shrimp Curry with Coconut rice or my new fav the Pulled Pork wrapped in Nan. My biggest complaint is the cost… seems like it is about $ 12 or so out the door. I would come more often if it wasn’t as expensive: O) The owners and staff are really nice!

One visit and I am an addict. I love Indian food. I grew up with an indian family as very close friends, and appreciate all aspects of their culture, but — oh — the food! All of those unique flavors and textures are amazing and alluring. On our first visit, my husband and I shared a 3 entrée meal. We ordered the coconut rice as the base, the korma chicken, the pork, and the veggie something. Yum. Wow. May I please have seconds? And thirds? The flavors were authentic — like comfort food with attitude. We got sides of yogurt, which were free with the meal, which I was very impressed with. The yogurt is made in-house and it was wonderful! We also got the chat, which my husband loved. The naan was large, soft, and full of flavor, and the hummus tasted like it had been made just minutes before we ate it. I like to eat indian food by scooping it up with the naan and dipping it in the yogurt — no fork required — and the naan was heavy and perfect for that. The atmosphere is much like Chipotle, as many reviewers have said, and that’s ok, but it’s clearly designed to get you in and out. No lingering invited, really, although they do have a couple of TVs for your game-viewing pleasure. While we were eating the owner came over and asked us if everything was to our liking, and it really felt like she wanted tohonestly know our opinion. I am completely thrilled that this wonderful new place is here in Lee’s Summit. Not pretentious at all, wonderful food made in small batches, and very friendly(although young) service. But hey, «Lee’s Summit» is a synonym for teenager, so you sort of expect it. Right on, Mirchies! i will be a devoted customer fo rmany years to come.

A reheated Indian TV Dinner made by white boys awaits you! Imagine an Indian TV Dinner that has been refrigerated and reheated a couple times. If you like something like that, then you will love Mirchies. When I drove in to the parking lot, there were cars everywhere and I thought that they must be a pretty exciting place. All those cars, however, were people heading to Hoolihan’s. Mirchies was empty. So, I go in to check it out. They have a set up kind of like Chipotle’s and you choose what you want. I ordered the combo for 8.99, chose my rice and two side dishes. When I went to pay, it was close to 12 bucks and I ask them why. Well, they didn’t bother telling me a couple of the more decent looking items had a 50 cent upcharge. They made it up by giving me an extra piece of naan, which was nice to do. Their naan is mediocre… probably the best thing they can offer besides their self-dispensing coke machine. Don’t waste your money on Mirchies. I think the other reviewers who rated it high have never had real Indian cuisine before. Another reviewer says: Anyone complaining about the«authenticity» of the cuisine here is clearly missing the point. Consider it Indian-inspired.“ Mirchies calls itself an «Indian eatery» and says this when they answer the phone. It isn’t called«Mirchies Indian-Inspired Cuisine». When I hear Indian eatery, I am expecting authentic Indian food.

Hubby and I just got back from a quick and delicious dinner at Mirchies. It’s not pretentious — just good food. My initial impression was that it was a lot like Panda Express(which I really like) and Chipotle for Indian cuisine. I had the coconut rice as my base and it was delicious. I also got the shrimp curry(for a dollar extra) and it was good… not quite as hot as I expected for curry. I also had the coconut green beans and they were good but the beans were a bit on the cold side. Hubby had the base of coconut rice too and had the slow roasted(spiced) pork and the vegetable korma. Hubby tried the spicy chat and I tried the yogurt/raitha. Hubby thought that the food, although it tasted good was a bit greasy and we would like to see the nutritional information. The pick two Thali was filling and we left satisfied with our meal. They serve Coca Cola products, including Zero and had a small selection of beer, including Blue Moon. I would like to go back and try the Nain in the future. The staff were very friendly and helpful and explained everything to us as first time customers. I also found the containers that the food was served in could be taken home and re-used and I liked that.

In the land of chains, one can become lost in the milieu of mediocrity. Mirchies, a fast/gourmet Indian eatery obviously patterned after the success of Chipotle, aims to be a culinary beacon in foggy suburbia. But it misses like a child trying to potty train. Don’t get me wrong. It means well, some of the food even tastes good, but not good enough to make up for the short conceived-concept. It’s like Chipotle, but Indian. People need to remember that Chipotle was supposed to be a critique on Taco Bell — a highly popular, overly processed fast food destination for«mexican food». Mirchies is the answer to… well…nothing. Indian food is not popular in the United States. We do not have a cultural reference. A person can walk into Chipotle for the first time and order a burrito, because they know what should go in one. But at Mirchies, you need 3 people to explain to you what a «base» is(rice or naan) and how you should top it(curry, korna) and so on. They let you sample, but even this process is clunky and ill-conceived — they let you try the SAUCE of the shrimp curry… At best, Mirchies will be a stop for those who don’t want to wait for Houlihans, or detest driving in the hideously designed summit shopping center. My advice? Simplify.

We happened upon this place for lunch. I have never experienced«fast food» from an Indian restaurant and was intrigued. Unfortunately, I was also disappointed. They were out of brown rice(a great idea by the way) so I chose cilantro garlic nann as my «base». The nann was the best part of the meal however the garlic did not come through. My main dish was vegetable korma, and it was the worst I have ever tasted. For two people without alcohol, our meal cost $ 18. For that amount of money, I would rather get takeout from another Indian restaurant. Great idea, poor execution.

I thought the coconut rice was very good and so was the shrimp. I did not care though for staff not knowing what is in their food. For example cilantro, she didn’t know what food item this ingredient was in. For some one having an allergy it WAS a big deal. Chicken was pretty good too. Thought portions could have been bigger.

We are so happy to have this little place just minutes from our house. We dine out A LOT and are always looking for something fast and affordable with healthy choices… therefore we have completely burnt ourselves out on Chipotle. We learned that we also have to pace ourselves on Mirchies so that we don’t burn out on this as well. We’ve dropped from visiting twice a week to once per week. :) My 9-yr old LOVES everything here, especially his Naan-dilla which I also enjoy occasionally. The chicken and beef choices are incredibly flavorful without being over powering and too spicy. Not to mention the option of seasonal Boulevard brews, yum! We always enjoy seeing and visiting with the owners as well. They are SO incredibly friendly and SO eager to help. You can see that they truly love what they are doing and want to share their passion with others. For those with little experience with Indian food, or even a previously bad experience, this is a wonderful place to explore, learn and enjoy!

I had a dealbug and wanted something new. Roomie and I are not consumers of Indian food. So other than me reading the menu on line and get email updates. I wasn’t sure if I would like it. Ok, I loved it. I got the upgrade garlic & cilantro naan, chicken korma and paneer veggie. Roomie got the coconut rice, beef & potatoes and pork with green beans. Both had Mirchies Chat for sauce. We actually switched plates because I liked her options better and vice versa. We were offered to taste but we both knew it would take just eating it to get out tastebuds to find something we liked. We saw several people come into try and then leave. This probably would have been us if we didn’t just dive in. I know I will be back. Thank goodness it’s far from me because I could get addicted to the food. However, those prices need me to have some distance. The portions were very small. I know spices make you eat less. The American in me still needs to see some bigger portions.

My boyfriend looooooooooves him some Chipotle… so much, in fact, that I no longer love Chipotle. My tastebuds have become dulled to the point where I can’t tell a pinto bean from a nugget of corn from the corn salsa, or tell my barbacoa from my carnitas. Imagine my happiness to find a similar concept with Indian food! Yay, change of pace! We went for lunch today… when you arrive, it’s very Chipotle, down to the corrugated metal décor and sandwich boards explaining the menu options above the assembly line service counter. The staff was super nice, very cheerful and friendly, and explained all the different menu options… basically, it’s a one-dish meal, with appetizers or soup to go with, if you prefer. they have soup, some samosas, some naan in that department. For your main dish, you have the choice of different«bases,» either a bed of rice(two kinds to choose from, or a bed of naan(again, two types to choose from. A handful of meat options and veggie options to top the rice with(I had chicken korma and green beans on top of coconut rice). Then you choose a sauce/topping for the whole thing, from a mild raita to a spicy chat. They have soft drinks and(hold on to your hat, Chipotle!) beer. It’s not billed as a sit-down Indian restaurant with all the trimmings, It’s taking a stab at healthy, quick, fast food-ish Indian food that tastes good and isn’t swimming in butter/oil.. They’ve succeeded at this, I think. The entrees, rice, and toppings are fragrant and flavorful, without feeling heavy. Even the lamb samosas, while on the small side, weren’t greasy, although I think they need to throw a couple more in for the price. Everything else seemed reasonably priced, though. Portions could be bigger, but I think it’s just because we’re accustomed to a pile of food, and, really, this is plenty of food for a healthy lunch and to not go away hungry, but not be bloated and stuffed. Really glad this place is open, it makes a nice addition to the repertoire of fast, tasty meals to grab quickly in the area. It’s very tasty, fast, and affordable, and the people are nice. Looking forward to trying some other combinations, here. Edited to address the disposable plastic bowl/lid issue, which others have noted as a turnoff, due to not wanting to throw a bunch of plastic in a landfill. Solution… don’t throw them away. I bring mine home and wash them, and they are excellent for packing my lunch for work, as well as food storage. No more need to buy Gladware, etc. They’re sturdy, seal well, and stack fine for storage.

I am so excited to have Mirchies right down the street from my yoga studio! After class, you’ll run in to any number of yogis in Mirchies, as I did last week. It is sort of a Chipotle-style Indian food restaurant. It is delish! I have now tried the pork and the chicken, the chicken being my favorite. The chickpeas are tasty, and the hummus was OK. The naan was a bit more like pita, but really yummy. This is PERFECT for carry-out and for me it is just the right amount of food. The owners are VERY nice too! A bonus!

I’ve been waiting for weeks for this place to open and today was the day! Fast fresh indian food at a reasonable price. I work down the street and I need a fast lunch, so I ran over today to check it out. I got the pick 3 thali(which give you 2 entrees a side and a sauce on top of your choice of rice). It took about 1 minute to assemble my lunch. I got the shredded pork and lamb on the coconut rice(yummy) with they yogurt sauce and the coconut green beans. It was just a little spicy, not too much kick, some may find it tame, but it was perfect for me. The shredded pork was my favorite, very tasty. The lamb had a good flavor but was occasionally more fatty than I would like. It comes with a lime, and indeed the meal has almost a citriousy feel to it. Very light and not very greasy even with the lamb. I will be back to try the naan and their bites! Have fun making your own combos! The owner helped me choose my meal, she was super nice. This is a family business and they told me that these are their mother’s recipes. Now I’m not an expert on indian food, so I don’t know how authentic it really is but this will be a staple for my lunch rotation(currently chipolte, noodles and now mirchies) since it is so fast.
