Pure Ink Tattoo Studio

My sister and I went in yesterday and had work done by Dan Rotundo. We had an awesome experience from start to finish. The receptionist was extremely friendly. Dan greeted us, went over the design and then provided us with a clean, quick and nearly painless first tattoo experience. We are both so incredibly happy with Dan’s work. Dan was super accommodating and we can’t thank him enough for a great experience.

I visited Pure Ink for the first time this past weekend for my second tattoo. The shop is super clean, great atmosphere, comfortable waiting couches, and lovely interior design. I made an appointment with Mike Lopez for my tattoo and he was exceptional! He was so kind, understanding, took his time, and made sure I was comfortable the whole way through. My tattoo was a big one so it took about 5 hours, but the time really flew by. My tattoo came out better than I could have ever imagined and I was so impressed by Mike’s technique and the fact that he kept going back in to add more details and colors, even when the tattoo looked like it was ready to go. I appreciate all of the time he took to make it exactly what I envisioned and more and I will absolutely be coming back to Pure Ink and to a Mike Lopez again soon!

All of the artists here have done the best work I’ve ever seen. This is also the cleanest and most professional tattoo shop I have ever been in. You’re not getting a tattoo here, you’re getting beautiful pieces of art. Absolutely breath taking. These guys look tough but they are all sweethearts.

I have been to tattoo shops in Montclair, Denville and Boonton and this is by far my new favorite place to get tattoos. The shop is well kept, clean and easy to get to. Even though you have to book months in advance to get an appointment with Dan it is well worth the wait. I was looking for an artist who could do photorealistic tats and looked all over for a great portfolio. Pure Ink’s website came up and Dan’s work is on point. I told him my idea and he customized it perfectly. I couldn’t be happier with my new piece and I’ll definitely be back for more.

This isn’t my usual tattoo spot so I cheated a little bit on my artist but I’m pretty happy with the affair ;)
Anyway, the place is impeccable. It’s beautiful, clean, welcoming, relaxed. Everyone that works there was incredibly friendly. I’d never been but went with a friend after we saw a promo on Facebook and figured it was absolutely time we got out high fiving stick figure cat tattoos. (I also wanted some lettering.)
Dunkin is next door, so someone left donuts for all to enjoy. At some point during the session, the owner went to get coffee and even got me one, his treat! Super nice. We were there a couple of hours, but not necessarily because it took that long but because
Ian tattooed me and though he’s younger and new, he has a lot of potential. I’m happy with his pieces on me though I can see how some of his line work needs a little work. I’d likely come back. I’ve only seen pictures of the other guys’ work and it looks unbelievable. I enjoyed his choice of music, too, and how each artist had an individual room. Again, super, super, super clean. Very professional and by the book but still friendly and funny.
Also because there was a delicious vegan spot next door haha. So we made quite the night of it.

Be friends with these guys on Facebook, they run awesome specials if you want to get a small piece or some lettering. Yesterday my friend saw that one of the guys was running a 5 letter special for $ 40, $ 10 for additional letters and she had a few things she wanted to get, plus we wanted to get some highfiving cat tattoos (see pics) so we said why not. Ian was running the special so we stopped in and saw him and got started. He was a nice guy and even got a bit parental on us about putting a tattoo on our hand — I give him props for being realistic but we opted to get them anyway. He was pleasant and I’d go see him again, his portfolio on their website isn’t updated so don’t be scared away by that, go see his art if you’re interested. The other artists were all floating around the shop and were quite entertaining. The owner was bouncing around as well and bought my friend a coffee (whatta guy). So this is my second experience at Pure Ink and I’d say I’m a fan, I think they’re great guys and I will def check them out for my next serious tattoo.
Also – if you are interesting in getting a large piece or a drawing done, call ahead of time and see if the artist you want is available. They have a lot of guys working there and they will take walk-​ins but if they’re busy obv they can’t see you… but they are worth it so just make the call. I’m so glad that tattoo shops are finally nice places to go to — no longer the days of walking into a private club type atmosphere being treated like crap, scraped with a needle, and sent on your way. This is a super pleasant atmosphere with talented artists.

Husband and I went in last night for our tattoos and had a great experience with Shawn. Keep in mind we opted for a very simple stick figure drawing so go and look at Shawn’s actual portfolio cuz this is obviously not representative of his abilities as an artist. Making an appointment was super easy, we stopped in the passed Sunday and left a deposit, came back last night and got inked. He called us around 6 because he had a cancellation so we were able to get in a little earlier (sweet). I think the prep time took longer than the actual tattoo, we got a stick figure tribute to our dog who we had to put to sleep a few weeks ago. Shawn loved the story and was fun to deal with. I will most definitely be back, most likely to deal with Shawn. The shop is clean and spacious, decorated nicely with various types of art on the walls.

I had an awesome experience with these guys. I have two swallow tattoos on my hips (which I got in college and are really bad, haha) and I wanted them to be holding a banner that stretched across my lower back, with wording on the banner. I researched the artists beforehand and they all seemed awesome. When I went in, the guy at the desk was really friendly and asked if there was an artist in particular I wanted. I said anyone was fine, and he gave me to Danny Mack.
Danny was super cool and helped me out with the banners, and with a larger piece I will want done later. In the consultation we went over every last detail, like what style the banners should be in and whether I wanted the letters filled in or not. He quadruple-​checked the wording and spelling to make sure it was exactly right. I made my appointment for a few days later.
Danny was super fast, very reasonably-​priced (but not «cheap» of course), and VERY GOOD, which usually don’t all go together. He isn’t chatty but that was fine, he was there to do his job and I appreciated his concentration. He did joke around and made me feel comfortable and made fun of my bad tattoos with me, but wasn’t mean about it, which I appreciated, haha. The large banners all across my back (I refuse to call them a tramp stamp) ended up looking fantastic and took a little over 2 hours.
I get tons of compliments on the banners and I tell everyone where to go. I will definitely be going back for more work later.

Great shop I’ve had 3 tattoos done by them and every artist was professional and really cared about what I was getting and provided feedback to make sure I got the best most artistic tattoos possible.
The shop is super clean, all the artists very friendly and personable they never make you feel like you are bothering them at all. I even went with my children and the guys were all awesome with them as most of them are parents also.
My only problem is that I moved out of state and haven’t had luck finding a shop that I trust as much as I trust the guys at Pure Ink.

I’ve had 2 tatts done at Pure Ink so far and I love them both. Every artist there is not only a great talent, but they all have amazing people skills too!
I’ve never been to a studio that has made me more at ease than Pure Ink, I highly recommend them.
My personal experience is with Gump and John, both awesome all around!
