The Gents Place Leawood

This place is awesome. I have been going about a year and Kendall always does such a great job. I enjoy all of the extra perks they give for membership. Parties, extra member specials, drinks, pool, tv’s. All around a fun place to be.

I have been an every two weeks customer at Gents Place for the last 4 years. As a member, I have a standing appointment for hand repair, hair styling and a shave. Its a plus that I am able to get my shoes polished while I am being pampered by the employees. The service is impeccable, always on time and delivered with uncompromising quality. I am always greeted by name and treated like a valued customer. The atmosphere is professional but always tinged with humor and fun.

I’ve been a member since 2013 and continue to be impressed by the overall commitment to the customer experience. From the moment you walk in the staff is welcoming and attentive. I will continue to recommend TGP to friends and colleagues. Special shout out to Robin… top notch!

Have been very happy with the way I am treated every time I book an appointment. I have never considered getting a foot or hand repair along with a first class hair service, but The Gents Place makes being pampered comfortable and provides lots of extras beyond getting a haircut.
This is a first class operation and have recommended many friends and clients. You will not be disappointed.

I have been a member for about 2 years now and the experience is always a great one. As a member, a standing appointment is really nice and I always get my person. The general mood of the place is also fun and I have gotten to know several of the stylists at the Leawood location, all great people.
Additionally, you are always welcomed to a beverage when you arrive and they have a decent bar with options. They host a couple of members only networking events, such as their scotch tastings. Lastly, I have purchased some of their products and have found them of great quality too.

My hair is difficult to cut. It is a bit wavy, two cowlicks, and slightly wiry. On one side it grows front to back and on the other top down. There, I have bared my soul! Over the years I have moved many times and it has always been a serious challenge to find someone who can cut my hair so that I look presentable, and after the first couple of years here in the Kansas City area I found The Gents Place and could not be happier.
As a customer I have always been treated with respect (and a shot of Maker’s in my coffee) and a friendly greeting. Only once did I have to wait past my «start time» and that was but 5 minutes (very acceptable). And then the «little things» add up to a great experience: rarely do you have to put up with noisy children, free wifi, the hot towels and comfortable chairs are great, and quality of the cut has always been top notch! In fact, my family refers to Holly as «Saint Holly» because of the miracles she performs.
While «memberships» are available I have never been «hounded» to purchase.
As the prices are bit heftier than those at a regular barber shop, the quality of cut and overall experience does prove that one does get what one pays for.
Nearby parking can sometimes be a chore, so I do try to schedule my appointments for off peak times.

I am a busy professional and my time is my most valuable asset. These folks canceled my 8 AM appointment without providing any meaningful remedy. I’ve been there twice before and its been hit or miss. I live in the Washington DC area and travel to KC often– even to an East Coast standard– this place is overpriced especially given the overall quality of the cuts I’ve received.

When I went in to purchase my Husband a gift card, the place seemed swanky and the girls were cute. I was very excited for him to be pampered a bit with a nice straight razor and a quality beard trim. However, it turns out that the quality of the product is subpar at best. When my husband got home from using his gift card, he was covered with spots of dried blood where he had been nicked and the lines of his beard were far from straight. I can’t speak to the other services this places provides but based on our experience, I’d suggest you stay far away from straight razors at The Gents Place.

In town for work, needed a good haircut, but don’t have a trusted stylist here. Called The Gent’s Place, they got me right in for an appointment. Kajuan cut me hair. Excellent job, fantastic gal! Highly recommend her. She’s the kind of person that listens carefully and duplicates what you want, but also has a very aesthetic sense and gets intuitively your look and beingness. She gave me a great haircut, I’m very happy. Also it’s a great place, they take good care of you.

I started going to The Gent’s Place in response to a promotional ad and received great treatment from Sarah. So I went back to Sarah for another visit and decided that this was exactly the kind to men’s salon and spa I was seeking. I’ve since convinced my wife to gift me a membership for my birthday and Christmas. Very accommodating and comfortable and well worth the time and expense.

Great experience for sure. Very polite and the amenities are fantastic. My issue is simple… I use clippers on my hair. That means I need frequent clips. Probably more than once a week. The weekly membership at $ 115 for a basic stylist isn’t outrageous but if you are having to convince your wife that you want to go here and she say’s you have clippers at home and can do it… Ben what is your comeback… because she isn’t wrong. Not to mention the fact that clippers take half the time of a real hair cut. You put a deal out there for $ 75 — 100 a month max twice a week clippers and neck shave and you would increase you membership instantly… I know it would sway me. But right now $ 115 and only once a week and then I have to come home and do it half way through the week to keep it tight… cost benefit says no.

The girl on the phone, shannon, was also at the desk when I arrived. She gave me a tour and a drank and set me on a leather chair to watch the Royals game.
There isn’t really a way to be unhappy here. The entire atmosphere is clean and classy. Everyone who works there is gorgeous. Just sayin.
I was consulted at every step as my stylist formed my hair. Samantha does excellent work and knows her stuff. I will return.

Not happy with my haircut whatsoever. Didn’t listen to what I asked for. Way too much off the front

This is one of the best places for men to go and get their hair done. I don’t trust anyone to fix my hair as it seems like every place in Kansas City that I have tried or anywhere that I travel (I travel 100% of my time for work) always messes it up. However, a friend recommended this location to me and I figured I would give it a shot because the reviews seemed great and the website was extremely professional. The staff at this location is some of the most friendliest and outgoing individuals that I have met. You can tell that they truly love there job. I had the pleasure of getting my hair done by Sarah and I must say this is the best haircut I have ever had. I have received numerous compliments and people wanting to know where I got it done. I look forward to being a member here and telling everyone about this location. I am also looking forward to the many opportunities to network and make new friends in the Kansas City area.
In Summary: If you want a professional, welcoming, loving, and caring location to go to and just relax and get your hair done this is the place for you.

I really look forward to my visits here a couple times a month. The staff treats me like family and they all seem to have outstanding attitudes. I love the fact that I can get a shoe shine whenever I need one-​hard to come by these days.
MJ does a great job on my hair and always makes me laugh. I just had a great hand detail from Robin yesterday, as well.
Great service all around from the entire staff!

If your looking for a professional upscale barbershop this will be your joint. @Idella is by far one of the most professional stylist that a man could ask for. If you are truly looking for a better experience in a haircut — you really have an obligation to give this a try. I could never go anywhere else again.

What an amazing experience! I have been coming here since they first opened several years ago. Friendly service in such a classy environment. Idella gives the best haircut I have ever had and is super knowledgeable about men’s grooming and the mechanics of running a top notch salon. Micheal, what can I say. He took shoes that were light colored Italian leather and brought them back to life after a rainy weekend in New Orleans! I don’t trust my shoe shines to anyone else.
Jatrice, MJ, Robyn, Holly have all been here for years greeting the clients smiles and amazing service.
Only negative is some ambiguity by the owner Ben about memberships and payments. Hopefully that will get all ironed out someday. As a professional and businessman myself I understand every business has its growing pains and hiccups.

It was my first time at GP and I absolutely loved it. Nice ambience, friendly manager and a perfect stylist. Carmen Kimberley gave me an awesome haircut which I had been wanting for a long time!
Other reviews have already mentioned about the pool, drinks and stuff which makes your stay at GP even better, so I don’t need to comment on that anymore. I would recommend this to everyone and I am going to stick to GP as long as I stay in KC!

After reviewing Unilocal comments for a mens hair salon (new to the area – so I’m uneducated) this place seemed civil. After all, the comments mentioned a welcome drink, tailored to men’s tastes, and close by – what’s not to like?
My review begins:
First I never thought that a visit to a hair place could reconnect me with a part of my past. The Gent’s Place did. How?
By reminding me of several times before I could drive, when I walked to the neighborhood barber shop (with barbers with long nose hairs and stinky breath they’d blow on you – but that’s another story) and returned home with a butchered haircut.
Yes – this place returned me to that time in my youth.
I should have taken warning when there were no major mirrors around where I was led for my cutting, to monitor what was being done to me. None. Plenty of games on large screen TV’s to distract you though. I was seated at the far rear of the studio, by the outside windows to one side of me an a railing in front of me (where I placed my glasses) which allowed me to see others being worked on. I couldn’t view what was being done to me, however.
I trusted that the information I gave on the sign-​in form would be transeferred to my stylist. Further I thought the (stylist) would listen when I reiterated «I like my cut, just trim it about ¼−½ inch.) The only thing I could think was that what I wanted wasn’t important to them
I only saw the results of what was being done to me, after the damage was done – when I was given a hand-​held 10» round mirror to approve the work.
I’m not going to insult someone who had already done so much damage to my previously passable mane. So – to get out – I said «.Oh…» paid and left.
Yes you get a free cocktail, but that’s not worth the month of ‘hat hair’ you’ll pay for your visit for the next month!
Or the embarrassment of going home and trying to explain it…

Review #700 goes to a really, really neat place. Now, I must state that I am extremely cheap, despite having a decent job. So, I’m not used to going to a nicer place like these, even though I deserve it, what with my hard work and all. But for a couple of years, I just couldn’t justify it. However, I finally did… and I am really, really glad I did.
I wrote an e-​mail because I had a question that wasn’t very urgent, but I was responded to within the hour. Things progressed and they offered just to book me via e-​mail, which was quite nice. The day before my appointment, I got an e-​mail to re-​confirm or cancel. Also a nice little touch.
I arrived about 20 minutes early because I was in the area and wasn’t sure what to expect. I was immediately greeted, checked in, and offered a drink — Scotch was my choice. It was Dewar’s, not anything great, but it tasted perfect in that atmostphere — comfortable chairs, a couple TVs, a pool table… just a neat place.
My appointment started about 5 minutes late, meaning I had about 25 minutes to sit around. During this time, I noticed that I was just about the only customer who wasn’t a regular. And by regular, I mean REGULAR — they walk in, and are immediately recognized. Half the time, the ladies working at the front even know what drink they want. That speaks to two important things — the repeat customers, and the friendly service.
In the end, I really enjoyed my time here. You’re paying extra, sure, but you’re paying for three big things — the atmosphere, the customer service, and the quality product, be it a haircut, massage, waxing, even shoe shine. Just sit back and enjoy.
