I was a little disappointed in my experience at Hereford house. I ate here on New Year’s Eve and was completely back and forth about whether to order my steak medium or med rare. Restaurants typically overlook medium, but I figured they were pros. I definitely got a medium well /almost completely well done steak. It turned out tough, dry, and overly disappointing. I’m not one to return food unless it’s to cook more, and why bother complaining when I was having a pleasant time with my company? I filled up on the other things, side salad, bread, lobster bisque (delicious) and then had dessert, a crème brûlée that didn’t quite have that crispy top. My dogs enjoyed the well done steak the next day. Sorry Hereford, but you let me down.

A fancy chilis. Don’t get tricked by this place. There are much better places to spend all of your money for steak. Not bad, but overpriced and gimmicky.

Great service, and I wish I could say the same for the food. Terribly disappointing and terribly overpriced. I’ve had much better food at Texas Road House for a better price. Won’t be back.

Went with a group of 12 recently and waited 2 full hours before receiving our first round of the fixed price menu «dinner for two» dish (this was a weeknight too). The accompanying wine flight was off by one dish every time, so never actually paired with the right food. The waitress, bless her heart, was trying to do what I think was her best, but it was the worst restaurant experience I’ve had. The food was mediocre and not worth the cost. WAY better KC restaurant options, including for steak. Kinda sad all around. Seemed like a management breakdown of some sort.

Very good, traditional Kansas City steakhouse. It has a nice country style feel to it too. The KC strip is a must, given the local nature of the restaurant, but anything on the menu would be superb too.

Excellent service. Hereford House has one of the best Happy Hours in my opinion. Enough food choices for everyone and the food is solid — good. Thanks for letting my girlfriends and I close you down.

My father-in –law took us for dinner here and as a KC kid I am always happy to eat KC Beef.
It was early 5:30 and very quiet in the store. After a 5 minute wrestle between whose table we were, a good server came to our table, no issues with the service or presentations.
Salads perfect, bread warm and tasty, then the main course.
The grill must have been just cleaned as our meat (both my wife and I ordered filets) had an extra flavor. I think the grill had not been prepared for dinner correctly and as I was a guest I decided not to make an issue of the steaks. Baked potatoes were RAW … it was early but come on! Lastly I tasted the Prime Rib and there was very little flavor … sad I was excited to eat KC beef but was given sub-par meat.
It is so easy to get these issues correct but I promise you there is better steak at walmart or any store in town.

Read reviews and based on a couple bad ones I wasn’t sure what to expect. Upon walking in I was greeted very politely. Once seated again I was quickly and politely greeted by my waiter. I ordered a steak and salad where everything showed up on time and correct. I thought it was strange that the onions and mushrooms were served on the side rather than on my steak like I ordered.
Food was good, not great, but good. I could tell based on the quality of the steak I was eating at a chain style steak house. Obviously a chain driven by margins over quality. Like I said the food was good but when I saw the prices I expected the quality of great.

Never had any great meat here, but the Chocolate cake is the best in the City.
I’d go here just for that.
