A charming & comfortable inn full of lovely antiques and curious oddities. We stayed here after my husband, Santa Claus, made his annual appearance in the Leander Christmas Parade! The breakfast this morning was yummy! We were sad to hear that the current innkeepers are moving to Oregon soon. We hope new innkeepers will jump at the chance to have such a wonderful spot — and we will be able to stay here next year!

The Gold Coat Inn is a beautiful little gem in Leander TX. Although our stay was short, we enjoyed the clean room and comfortable bed. We stayed in the New Orleans Suite which has a cute foot claw tub. We had a wonderful home cooked breakfast before our drive back home.

If I could give a higher score than 5, I would for Gold Coat Inn. The owner, Jo was so accommodating and helpful as I planned a leadership training for my office. The location was perfect, the atmosphere was exceptional and relaxing even for trainees. Jo put me in contact with a caterer, Euphoria’s who took care of the breakfast and lunch that was fantastic. I totally recommend both Euphoria and Gold Coat Inn for any party or office event. Judy Kocian

We had our rehearsal dinner here, and my parents and I stayed here the night before our wedding at Kindred Oaks. Jo is one of the nicest people you’ll meet, and the whole team made us feel so welcome and relaxed before our big wedding day. Gold Coat Inn was just the most perfect choice for our rehearsal dinner, and everyone said so. it had just the right amount of quaint charm and warmth of home. The rooms were so very cozy, well-kept and clean. Plus, the staff are all wonderful people. My husband’s mom had said that Jo was such a joy to work with to arrange everything, and we also had Catherine/Eudora’s Cuisine cater the rehearsal dinner. I’d highly recommend, as a rehearsal dinner spot, a one-night B&B trip, or a weekend breakfast.

We went this past weekend to the«breakfast with Santa», and I have to say I was very impressed. Sure there are always slight delays on busy mornings, and things like that– but here’s the thing that stuck out to me and prompted this review – this place has heart. It is so obvious that it is a warm and welcoming place and the owners are heartfelt in their efforts to create a great place. The wait staff and kitchen staff were all positive and friendly, the owners circulated to make sure everyone was well tended to, and the food was absolutely lovely.

Not able to handle the volume since opening for breakfast to the public on weekends. Had to wait to be seated when there were open tables. Had to wait to have order taken. Had to wait over an hour for food. Food had a great flavor but was not warm which killed any positive comment. Paper plates and plastic ware when others had plates and silverware. Plenty of wait staff it seemed. The problem is the kitchen was not able to keep up. Possibly not enough equipment and clearly needs more cooking staff.

Some friends of ours told us about Gold Coat Inn’s weekend breakfast, and we had to try it out. We arrived and immediately found the friends/family nature of the bed & breakfast was not limited to overnight guests, and were very quickly on a first-name basis with Jo and Catherine. This is definitely *not* the place to go if you want to be served mass-produced food by a busy distracted waitress! …grin…In fact, the down-home environment was such that we even found ourselves in conversations with neighboring tables. We elected to have the«special»: scrambled eggs, French toast, sausage or bacon, and a small drink. The french toast was made with thick-slice Challah bread, and had a surprising layer of cream cheese(yum) stuffed in the middle. My wife and I also shared a side of cheese grits… which were full of flavor yet wonderfully light & fluffy, very fresh. We couldn’t resist taking home one-of-each of the bakery goods, prepared by Mary from Chisolm Trail Bakery. The cinnamon roll was HUGE and was perfectly delectable. We also got the Cow Patty(a chocolate packed 5″ round cookie) and a few freshly homemade kolaches(jalepeno/cheese/sausage, cream cheese, and cherry). While there, we learned that Gold Coat Inn does a quarterly prix fixe dinner. I can’t wait to hear what will be offered. We will DEFINITELY be returning many times, and sharing our«secret» with all of our friends! We highly recommend Gold Coat Inn, wonderful food at reasonable prices… like going home for a family meal!
