The food has been consistently good with friendly service one of my favorite eating places in League City.

It’s okay barbecue or something close but after eating Killen’s BBQ nothing in the world can compare and I think that’s the problem I’ve had the best now everybody has to live up to that and that’s the problem what is a pitch it’s good BBQ

We used to love to go to Red River for a great steak. Last night we went and my husband got the 16oz Premium Rib Eye steak. He also ordered a sweet potato. The steak was at least 50% fat and the sweet potato was a baked potato. The cashier got confused during the order because, in addition to substituting a potato for the two sides you get with this order, she had to add a .99 charge. I ordered a baked potato and salad bar. Usually, the baked potatos, when bought separately, are large. My baked potato was small. Very disappointed.

I wish there were more stars to give because this place deserves about 10! Everything that we had was cooked PERFECTLY. And with how packed it was you can only imagine how good the food is. I got the BBQ pulled pork with bacon and then macaroni salad and corn for sides. The pulled pork was very tender and you could taste the smokiness from both the meats with every bite. The macaroni salad was very good it had mayo, green onion, and celery, and the corn was cooked perfectly. I don’t think that I have ever had BBQ this good and I will definitely go back if the opportunity presents itself though it is a little pricey, roughly $ 10-$ 15 a person, it’s well worth it. If you’re ever in the League City area GO!

There isn’t really anything special about the restaurant. I had a rib platter and the weren’t the come right of the bone type that I’m used to getting in Georgia for the same price. Maybe it was just me and I’m not used to Texas BBQ. I think Sonny’s BBQ is better and more economical.

We had wings, brisket, ribs, and chicken fried steak. The main dishes were great. The sides were also really good. This is the best BBQ on the area!

My favorite is the brisket. The grilled chicken was also very good. If you have small children, there is a outside sand pit that is covered for them to play in. Nice staff is always helpful also. Side tip: they have great prices on catering.

Ive eaten at the Katy location as well as this location. I didnt know if I should expect different food or service at first. Didnt worry long, both the people and the bbq are spot on. I usually have to take my food home as its pretty big portions. Go get some of this deliciousness!

Their brisket and bbq sauce are super delicious. The online ordering system is perfect for on the go orders, and they catered in food at my school for the veterans on campus which is super awesome. Would recommend while in the Clear Lake area.

Ten or so years ago this was our go-to place for BBQ in the Clear Lake area. We went for the first time since then. It’s obvious from the crowd many people come here, but… We were unhappy with our meal. We shared a pork rib plate with potato salad and pinto beans. The potato salad and beans were good but the ribs not so much. The ribs were tough. I didn’t eat most of mine and she picked over hers and mine to find a little tender meat. The BBQ sauce was watery. She didn’t use it and I didn’t care for the taste of the little that didn’t run off the ribs. All-in-all a bad trip. If we hadn’t once liked this place I might have rated them one star. It was either a bad night or this place has changed a lot. ___ We’ve Eaten Out Every Meal for more than 25 years

Damn you Texas and your exceptional BBQ. Everywhere I seem to go in this blasted state, I get great to(insert choice curse word here) great food. I’m only here for a day and am amazed at the warm service we received and quality food. I hate going home and only have a few BBQ choices to select from. While they’re great for San Diego, they’re average for Texas. Back to some specifics for this place. The smoked turkey, ribs, and pulled pork are delicious. The batter they use for the fried mushrooms and onion rings are delicious. The are cooked perfectly. Not greasy, seasoned well, and cooked properly. The sauce is a good combo of sweetness and spice. The meat is not slathered with it either. They let you add the sauce. The meat showcases on its own. The décor is a little dated in my opinion. But my family said it’s appropriate theme for a western BBQ house. Okay… I’ll give it that. Again overall they’re well worth it.

This place has come a long way! Love the service and the high quality of food. BBQ is one of those things that is hard to get right, but when its good, it’s great and this place hits the nail on the head. They’ve got your classic BBQ plates, but they kick it up a notch by offering what I call special«Texas BBQ» plates that are a little more adventurous and tasty. Stop in and see Jim and enjoy some good local smoked goodness!

I was anxious to visit this establishment but unfortunately it turned out to be a lackluster experience. After perusing the menu for a moment I decided on the two meat combo so I could sample a variety of what they offer. The combo consisted of sausage, brisket, coleslaw, potato salad, and a small corn muffin. The brisket hadn’t been smoked long enough and had it not been for the bbq sauce, it would’ve been all but bland. The sausage had so much pepper that it was spicy, and I didn’t order spicy sausage, but like the brisket it hadn’t been smoked long enough and required a healthy dose of bbq sauce. The potato salad was a total loss from it being dry to the overwhelming taste of celery. Potato salad is a mild flavored dish and adding celery is a no no because rather than complimenting the flavor of the dish, it overwhelms it to the point that it’s all you taste. The corn muffin was dry like sawdust. The coleslaw was the best I’ve ever had from a restaurant, and that’s no exaggeration. I’ve had homemade coleslaw that wasn’t this good. All in all this was a disappointing experience and for the establishment to have been in business for so long, I expected so much more.

Their BBQ sauce all by itself warrants five stars – it’s really good stuff, with a kick, nice and tangy, thick enough, just a really good sauce! As for the rest of it: Keeping in mind that 3 stars means A-OK by Unilocal standards, then I give Red River BBQ3 ½ stars, but can’t quite bring them up to four, for several reasons. First, and probably foremost, is the price – they are super expensive for a BBQ joint when you start ordering by the pound or for the family. Secondly is the staff just aren’t always super friendly, and in fact, have been rude on a few occasions when we were spending a large amount of money too. There have also been a few times they have closed early, when we had expected them to still be open. I do like that you can order online though and pick it up. That makes it convenient. I also like the BBQ sauce a lot better than most of the other BBQ joints in the area. Their salad bar inside the restaurant is rather simple and disappointing, but it’s not meant to be a major salad bar, I guess. They have the requirements, the pickles, onions and peppers that go with the BBQ, and it’s mostly kept clean. It’s not a spotless place, but it’s not filthy or anything. The jalapeño sausage is really yummy, as is the regular sausage. The beef is okay, but sometimes it’s really dry, like maybe it’s not fresh? And most of the time, the only flavor is really on the outside, like the flavor really just doesn’t permeate through the meat well. I like the loaded potatoes, especially the pulled pork ones, and they are huge. I am not a fan of any of their sides – they all taste bland and unseasoned to me. Especially the potato salad. So over all, the food is good for what it is, but a bit too expensive to eat at regularly – and for the price, I find I just have other places I’d rather eat at if I’m going to spend that much money to take the family out. But if you’re looking to grab some quick BBQ on a weekend or a trip to the lake or a picnic at the park, they have some good family packs and pack things really nicely to go, and you can pick it up on your way out to where you’re going. All that said, I would definitely order their sauce and bring it home to store! It’s that good! As for accessibility, parking is easy, the ramp is easy, ordering is easy, and the dining room is easy to maneuver – I had some trouble with the salad bar while in the wheelchair(it’s hard to reach the back part of the bar and it’s up against the wall so you can’t get to both sides of it) and none of the employees offered to help or to carry my tray to the table. I don’t expect them to wait on me, seriously, but most places are usually quite accommodating when things are difficult for wheelchairs in a dining room, so I was a little surprised no one offered. One of the other guests in the dining room assisted me kindly – thank you stranger! – and my family joined me a few minutes later, so I was able to enjoy the rest of my meal.

My husband has been wanting us to go here for a while now. After visiting quite a few let downs I was reluctant to say the lease. Bitching bbq! The place is very nice and clean! Place your order and take a seat. A waiter/waitress brings out your meal to you and you chow down. I ordered the ½ chicken meal with potato salad and fried okra. The only negative thing I have to say is that there wasn’t enough. The BBQ sauce is so good! I wish I had a better word to describe it becuse good does not do it any justice! The chicken was so juicy. The potato was great as well! Okra topped it off. I have visited places that will have nice bbq meats but he sides suck. Not in this case. My husband ordered the ribs and baked potato. The potatoe is HUGE! A meal in it’s self. His ribs were cooked to perfection. I don’t like my ribs falling off the bone, I enjoy just that perfect tear and pull away. That’s exactly how it was. My daughter ordered the burger, I did take a bite… I didn’t like it at all! It tasted like a frozen patty but she enjoyed it. Did I mention the bbq sauce? I could drink that ish!
