Twelve years and still going strong. A friendly and welcoming shop which stocks a wide variety of yarns, tools and patterns for knitters and crocheters. Conveniently located in the heart of Lawrenceville, on the square. Plenty of free parking around the shop.

Today I visited the store front with my family. I decided to take my daughter to purchase some Yarn so it can help her with her depression and RAD. When I walked in I was approached by a young girl that decided to answer every question, answer or statement I made to my daughter. Keep in mind my daughter has mental health issues. So when I showed my daughter what she can make, they young lady said to my daughter«oh you can make anything.» Then I showed mydaughter our budget because she wants to start a necklace business with finger weaving. I told my daughter«we should also do yoga socks.» The girl walks over and says«you can do whatever you want honey and you should do hats and sweaters.» I looked at my daughter and said«we will focus on necklaces and yoga socks for the summer»: the girl then walks over and says«you can do hats and sweaters in the summer it will be fine.» I was speaking to my daughter. This girl had no manners. Did her paents not teach her to not be nosy? how about not to speak unless spoken to? So on the way home my daughter which is «mental health» had a melt down in the car. I went in with a budget to buy yarn and came out with a headache and my daughter stressing out. I did not ask her 1 question the whole time. I was nice and pleasent to her but she continued on and on and followed us through the store. My point is I understand the young girl was trying to be nice. But she has no training on customer service. Every suggetion I made to my child was under minded by this person. Working with mental health you make a plan and a budget to help them deal with the real world and you stick to it. For every word I said this girl had a rebuttle of how my daughter can do anything and make anything and have anything. Well unless this girl was paying for all she fed into my daughters head and for all the times she spoke over me then maybe she shold fit the damn bill. I have no words of how upsetting it was to have someone speak over me and knowck down everything I had plan with my mentally il child. My daughter cried for 4 hours today about why we cant afford to make all the additonal things the store worker listed. I continued to say to her«NOTHANKYOU». What world is she living in to not understand that? If my daughter is still having a hard time adjusting to what happend and hurts herself this store will surely be seeing me in court!!! Thank you for making this a horrble day for my daughter you should be ashmed!

What a great little shop! I live in NH and every year I visit family in Lawrenceville for Thanksgiving. I make a point of visiting this hidden gem each time I come. The shop has a great selection of yarn, and I think it is affordably priced. There are a lot of things that are higher priced in NH as compared with this area of GA, and their yarn is typically the same or lower than what I’m used to spending. I made sure to sign up for the email list in case I happen to be in the area and can hit a sale or a class. Most recently I signed up for a Fair Isle Hat class and it was great. Marcia was such a wonderful teacher, and so very patient. I would consider myself to be an intermediate knitter, so although I found her explanations to be very clear anyway, I watched how she interacted with a beginner in my class and found her to be very thorough and informative. The other great thing about this store is that everyone is so friendly! I know I’m partially aware of this because I’m from the northeast and find all of Lawrenceville to be pleasant to begin with, but even the people who are just sitting around knitting and chatting are so sweet! This Thanksgiving I made 4 trips in one week to this store for browsing and shopping, and already I’m itching to go back.

I had no idea that there was a knit shop in Lawrenceville until they started up their own Ravelry group. They’re not listed on which I thought was rather odd. Anyways, Lawrenceville might be out of the way for most people. But luckily for me, I work in the area. The Yarn Garden has a very nice selection of wool and superwash wools. The best I’ve seen so far in Atlanta. They also have a nice assortment of sock yarn too. The customer service was top notch. The store clerk was friendly without being overbearing. My only complaint are their hours. They’re not the most condusive to working professionals such as myself. They are open on Saturdays and open late on Thursdays for their Knit/Chat nights, so I have to sacrifice my lunch break to do some yarn shopping. Another bonus, is that they have coupons available through their e-mail list and on the website.
