Will’s Taste of Chicago

The comment by a Unilocaler stating that Wills Taste of Chicago, 2948 Five Forks Trickum Rd, Lawrenceville, GA IS Closed is a misnomer that could lead to CONFUSION and I made it my business to straighten this because, the business is my business and I am trying to let Unilocal users know that we are not closed.
No, This business is not closed. It was sold to a new owner who has maintained the format and preparations of the foods that were being served before as ‘Will’s taste of Chicago”. We were trained well on how to prepare Chicago style foods.
Yes, the name and ownership has changed. The new name is «SODERE Ethio-​American Cuisine». Almost every thing that was served before is being served now plus there is the Ethiopian specialty that is included with the original menu of ‘Will’s Taste of Chicago”. It is a business that is still running and IS NO longer associated with Mr. William (Will). That is the only difference.
SODERE is open on Sunday’s to serve you Chicago style foods; American favorites like burgers, Philly steak and chicken and, wings to name a few.
You can also try the spicy and delicious foods of Ethiopia. Try it once and you will be back for more like many that have tried us.
Looking forward to seeing you at SODERE Ethio-​American Cuisne. Mention this and the drink is on the house when you order the meal.

Sadly it looks like they closed — Great shop, not such a great location but they had great food for excellent prices. Hope he opens up someplace where he’ll get more traffic. That same spot has had several good restaurants come and go.

No longer owned by Will and Bonita. No longer serve Chicago style wings. Total blower. Where did they go???

When it was Will’s place it was the best food ever. 5 stars for sure! Closest you can get to Chicago food. We are really sad to hear Will is gone and read these bad reviews. Will: did you relocate? Will you ever open another place? Food truck maybe? Please please please let us know. Thanks!

The owner talks too much! Even tried to convince us to buy the place!!! We were looking forward to Chicago style food… The food was terrible, we will NOT be back!

Bland food, bland service. Nothing special to be spoken of this place. Just a hole in the wall next to a chevron. Got their hot dog which was not impressive for the price nor were the wings which came with blue cheese instead of ranch. Flavor or wings was Frank’s red hot. If I wanted that I could of stayed home. Nothing noteworthy or impressive on my visit. Will not return. Do not understand the 4 and a half stars. People need to set standards a little higher.

Pros– Staff greets customers when they come into the establishment.
They made a mistake when preparing my order and the owner did remake the order.
Cons– The cashier seemed very inexperienced.
The staff (cook and cashier) were abrasive and lacked customer service skills. When I brought it to his attention that the order was incorrect he failed to apologize.
No one thanked me for my business.
Bread was stale and some of the meat off of the grill was burnt.
Fiancé and I both agreed we could’ve made a far better «philly» at home. Because of this experience that’s just what we plan on doing.
A bit of advice for you Will: step your customer service up, treat EVERY customer like they are your first and last and give EVERY sandwich your all.

The buns were not steamed & stale. The Chicago dog came covered up with tons of relish minus the sport peppers, minus celery salt. They thought I wouldn’t notice! Kraut dog came without mustard. No napkins, no condiments or utensils anywhere in sight either. No dipping sauces offered for fried foods either. This was our first time here and our LAST! We were the only ones in here at that time on a Sat nite so what was the reason he didn’t get it right? Football was blasting but so what if you CAN get the damn order right! For $ 28 worth of crap, we will make the long trip to Mike’s Hot Dogs on Roswell Rd in Sandy Springs. They are a beyond 5-​star eatery! We are running screaming from Will’s fer sure! EW!

My first time trying Chicago style wings. They were great. Owners were very nice and welcoming.

Great place. Will has a great personality and the food is great. Italian beef and Italian sausage both have great flavor and the brownies this place makes are off the chain. Both the normal gooey caramel brownie and the blondie are excellent. I went today to try the cheesesteak, but couldn’t help myself from ordering the combination sandwich of Italian beef and Italian sausage. Keep up the great work will!

If you’re looking for a «good ol’ hot dog» or tasty sandwich, then this is your place. It was a bit of a drive on my lunch hour, but worth the trip. I will definitely be back. Yum! BTW, Will, the owner, says come on by. Friendly atmosphere, nothing pretentious here… just great food.

After hearing about Will’s on Facebook and then again from a coworker, my dinner club decided to try it for our monthly get together. We were not disappointed!
From the moment that we walked into the restaurant it was an enjoyable experience. We were greeted with enthusiasm and friendliness and a feeling as if they really wanted us to enjoy a great meal.
Half of us had a Chicago style hot dog and half of us had the Italian roast beef. Well I can tell you, the Italian beef with mozzarella and peppers «wet» was incredible but being a hot dog lover from the moment I started eating solid foods I cannot wait to try one of the hotdog variations.
I encourage you to try this little restaurant. You can get it to go but if you really would like to have an enjoyable experience stay and converse with the owners. They have just the right personality to run a business like this.
Oh, and a health score of 100 doesn’t hurt!!! Way to go, Will’s!

I just watched 2 people leave due to no service. I ordered a Maxwell Street Polish and it wasn’t char-​grilled. The fries are coated with something? The polish did not taste like Vienna. I’m not saying it’s not. I don’t know.

My brother took me here today and boy am I glad, so much so that 3 hours later I brought my dad. True authentic is what u get, with a smile and friendly chatter. These are the type of place that are few and far between, a place with amazing food, done right and the people are happy to see you.
Working my way through the menu and so far no misses everything has been amazing, dont walk run cause unless you go to chicago u wont find anything better.

Excellent customer service from the time I walked in and as I exited. I arrived very close to closing time and instead of turning me away, they were happy to invite me in and take my order. This is my second time visiting and again, the food was absolutely AWESOME! My first was a regular hotdog and fries and this time I experienced the steak and cheese. I can’t wait for my next entrée…mmmmhh, what will it be?

Will’s gets 4 stars for food and 5 stars for service! After a very long day I stopped in around 9PM and ordered an Italian Beef (wet) with mild peppers & fries. The owners were engaging and very friendly and the Italian Beef could have come straight from lower Michigan Drive!
Next time I’ll get half mild /​half hot peppers but this sandwich was indeed a taste of Chicago right in Snellville, GA! Go to Wills!

Best Chicago Dog this side of Avondale. The Italian Beef was fantastic. My husband and I can’t wait to return. The owner, Will, is the nicest man. Great neighborhood find. Come on over to this side of Gwinnett and give them a try. You won’t be disappointed.

This review is NOT based on the food. I can’t rate that because I haven’t tried it yet. This review is based on the customer service. My mom came over this weekend and wanted lunch so I told her I had saw this place on Unilocal that I bookmarked since we’re from Chicago. I had already ate so I drove her to Will’s to get food.
She ordered the 4pc chicken meal with fries. It took s while because they cook it fresh to order (def not a problem). There were two younger ladies making the food that afternoon. When we got home and she opened her tray, the chicken didn’t seem to be completely done and lacked flavor/​seasoning. It just wasn’t good (her words)…she was a bit disappointed. So she called the restaurant… the owner answered and she let him know. He told her to come back with the food and he’d have a fresh meal waiting on her AND give her her money back. This is something that he didn’t have to do at all. maybe replace it, yes, but to also make it on the house was very courteous of him. She said when she got there he walked from behind the counter and handed it to her and apologized and all.
I’ll be going back to this place to try the food soon just based on wanting to support awesome small business owners!

We stopped in at Will’s Taste of Chicago in Lawrenceville after driving by the other day with the hopes that Will would deliver delicious Chicago dogs and Italian beef.
Upon entering, we were greeted by Will. When we asked if he was Will, he jokingly said «if it isn’t good, then I’m Joe.» Well, needless to say, Will can go by his real name. The food was excellent. I had the Italian beef with sweet peppers and au jus and fries. The beef was authentic and delicious. I’ve had Italian beef at a couple of other locations in the Atlanta area, but none of those places can compare.
One of my buddies had the Chicago dogs, while the other had Maxwell’s Street Polish sausage. They both were both very impressed… so impressed, they had two.
Will, along with his wife, were here tonight and are both happy and energetic people who are truly concerned that their customers have a great experience.
We will definitely be back! Hoping that some day he’ll be able to offer Chicago pizza!
