I was here for a business lunch. I love the Asian décor that greets you inside the doorway. The hostess was attentive to us and say us immediately for hibachi. I love HIBACHI! The ginger dressing on the salad was not good & didn’t have that authentic taste that I’m used to. It tasted like it was mixed with another dressing. Maybe to stretch it. I dunno. I ordered salmon & scallops. The rice was really good. I was a lil surprised because I could tell our chef was new. He did a good job. The salmon & scallops were cooked to perfection. I loved it! I was a lil stunned upon leaving I saw they had a food score of 83. Yikes!

I forgot to write this review a few weeks ago, but it is better late than never. I use to frequent this location for years! I am big on looking at health scores to ensure the standards are up to par. So a time before this last incident, I noticed that the health score was not on the wall. I asked the hostess where it was, and she advised that it had fell from the wall… I’m like OK. She was able to show me the«score», but I noticed when I left that it still was not on the wall. Fast forward a few weeks later, I return back. I notice that the score is STILL not on the wall. I believe the man behind the hostess desk is the manager. I ask him«Where is the health score?» He questions me by saying«Health score?»…I say«YES, the health score». This man looks all panicky, while looking around the front through a stack of papers and what not. I am looking in disbelief! Then! He produces a stack of health scores! He pretty much is shuffling through stuff and then proceeds to show me a score, but will not me even get close to it!!! I’m in utter disbelief! So, please people, for your own safety, go to another location! I left in a hurry and have not been back since. I will NEVER return to this location. The fact that a health score is mandatory, and this location has a problem with posting it shows that something shady is going on there. Be careful!

The environment is very warm and inviting. We went on a Monday is was practically empty which means we were catered to quite well. The sushi is great and it goes best with spicy mayo. I had the hibachi chicken. I would come here again

We have been coming here for a long time and noticed the service going down. They are not big on show, but never expected a Hispanic chef that only spoke Spanish at a jananese hibatchi table. The order was not right, the waitress did not refill our drinks, and the food was sub-par. If you go, stick with the sushi.

The absolute best Japanese Restaurant and Steakhouse in all of Atlanta. If you don’t make this place a definite destination, you’ve hurt yourself. The BEST Teriyaki sauce I and everyone I ask, have ever tasted. They make their own. Great cooking and shows by Benihana worthy cooks. A don’t miss experience. Richard Brinkley.

I would give this place a 3.5 for take out. I got California crunch roll and the grasshopper roll. Also got the shrimp and vegetables tempura appetizer. All the tempura was soggy unfortunately. Everything needed to be cooked longer. Other than that taste was good. Maybe it is fresher when you dine in. Some of the prices are great and others I thought were too expensive for the quality. Added note: Their shrimp wasn’t cleaned in the tempura appetizer. Really grossed me out.

This is the third time we come. And out of the three times we only enjoyed the show once. It’s convenient to our home so we kept giving it a shot. This was the worst experience ever. We came for the experience and it was horrible. We could have gotten this food for a third of the price somewhere else. When we brought it to the attention of a supervisor she said there was no manager and she could take off that fried rice it’s the best she could do. We are so disappointed and will NOT be coming back. What a waste of our money!

Shogun is NOT big on the show. One of the things that I love about Kyoto and many other hibachi restaurants is the preparation of the meal is the entertainment. The cook interacts with the diners and everyone has a good time. You’re not going to find this at Shogun. In fact, during this meal, the cook never said ONEWORD other than to clarify peoples order and specific requests regarding the preparation of their meal. I love starting the meal with sushi. While I am not that adventurous when it comes to sushi, I do enjoy a California roll to start the meal and I love dunking each piece in soy sauce with wasabi mixed in. It gives a great flavor that sets up the rest of the meal. The food though, is good. The portions are better than you normally get at any Japanese restaurant we’ve been to. They serve sherbet at the end of the meal, which most Japanese restaurants stopped doing years ago. The food is prepared perfectly. One thing that I would like to mention is that the soup, normally just a watery broth is quite good and is brimming with flavor. It’s something I look forward to every time I go there. Shogun, while lacking in the entertainment area, is a consistent sure bet for some great Japanese hibachi and sushi. It’s very close to the AMC movie theater and is an ideal choice for dinner and a movie. Guten appetit!

Shogun Japanese Steak and Sushi is a fairly large restaurant that focuses on Hibachi grilling and sushi. The restaurant is split into two areas, with the left side of the restaurant focusing on Hibachi, and several dining areas on to the right, that seem to accommodate other orders including sushi. This review will focus on the hibachi portion of the restaurant because i’m allergic to seafood. I like Shogun for quite a few reasons. It’s one of the more flavorful hibachi locations compared to other ones in the general area to me, from the hibachi grilled items down to the miso soup. Really enjoy the flavor here. In addition to the pleasant staff who takes good care of their customers, the percentage of chefs that are friendly and actually seem to love their job, despite doing the«chooo chooooo» onion smoke train bit for the millionth time, is great here. I’ve had my fair share of uninspired«Over it» chefs who wont even flip an egg shell in their pocket for you, and sure, you sometimes find chefs like that Shogun, but they definitely seem to be the exception to the rule, where as other locations, it’s just the rule. I ordered the Hibachi chicken with fried rice, vegetables, shogun(miso) soup and salad with ginger dressing. The ginger salad dressing and salad were pretty fresh, but standard. The miso soup had a hearty flavor with really nice green leaves that were pretty tender after soaking in the broth. The hibachi chicken is white meat, but they still make it fairly tender upon cooking it. The teriyaki sauce, cooked towards the end of the chicken’s grill time, has a slightly sweet flavor, but if you need more flavor, there’s three dipping sauces to try. The fried rice is cooked to order for the entire group, and just be warned that they throw a lot of butter and soy sauce on the rice while cooking it, so it’s very tasty, but probably the worst thing on the menu to eat… but it’s so good! Finally, the mixed veggies included onion(chooo choooo!), zucchini, mushroom and broccoli. The veggies can be hit or miss depending on what cook you have, so you may have nice and firm, or mushy and unappetizing. The Hibachi chicken dinner cost right around $ 15, and with the exception of ONLY hibachi veggies, it’s the lowest price you’re going to pay for hibachi dinner, as some of the meals creep up and sometimes pass the $ 20 mark. You get a much better bang for your buck for lunch, as the price of meals are often cut in half, and the sample size doesn’t take a hit either. Additionally, their website often will have coupons for group deals, if you’re not adverse to that. The only things that shogun does that I don’t like are related to allergies and take out. Hear me out. I have a seafood allergy, and i’m terribly allergic to all shellfish. More than once, friends and I will arrive for dinner, sit/wait for others to show because Shogun doesn’t want to cook for just three people, and when new people come in, they all order shrimp. You’d think because I was here first, they’d cook my food first, followed by everyone else’s shrimp. Nope… my order has to be cooked in the back despite waiting the longest! Not fair! In terms of take out, if you just walk in shogun and order lunch to go anytime between noon and 1pm, you’re asking for a 30 minute wait, so call it in, or come at a different time… just don’t be mad that they can’t get your take out in a timely fashion because you were warned. I do enjoy Shogun’s service, friendly staff and tasty food. I really do wish they’d be more accommodating to those with shellfish(or any) allergies, especially if they were waiting to be served long before others, but that’s just me griping because I can’t find anything else wrong with Shogun. Check them out if you’re in the area!

Excellent service and food was delicious! This was our second visit. The chef was entertaining, friendly and professional. Place looks cozy and the servers are super nice and always checking in drinks. We brought a cake for my husband’s birthday and they made sure we had everything we needed it. I was surprised the place was kind of busy for a Tuesday.

They mess up my order EVERY single time I come here. I cannot have shrimp and I let them know this when I order. 20 – 30 minutes later, guess what’s on my food? Yep, shrimp right on top. When I ask to get a new order, they take the food back, remove the shrimp, and bring the same plate back to me. This is not ok. I like the ginger dressing and spring rolls, other than that I wouldn’t come here.

DONOTEATHEREIFYOUVALUEYOURHEALTH! See my pic of my glass on this site! ! I just RAN out of Shogun after my first visit to this restaurant. At first the meal was OK, the food tasted fine however halfway through my meal I went to have a drink of water which was filled to the top with ice. As I got about half way down I noticed something in the glass. There was a brown paper napkin stuck in the bottom of the glass and along the side. The glass was red so I could not see through it. when it was filled. Once I got halfway down is when I could see the wet brown paper napkin in the glass! I immediately lost my appetite and called for the manager. All she could say was that she was so sorry and wanted to take the glass away from me before I could take pictures of it! I told her she needed to comp this meal, which she did, and my husband and I left! As we were driving out of the parking lot, the waitress that served my wonderful drink of water stopped us to say that there was nothing in the glass when she gave it to me! How audacious! As if I could put a napkin that was not even on the table(they have black cloth napkins) in a glass of water and put ice on top of it, all while sitting at the table! BEWARE– I am giving no stars for this Shogun experience but I have to put at least one to make a post.

On Valentine’s Day(2÷14÷15) at around 7:00 pm, my Sweeti and I decided we didn’t want to get all dressed up to go to a pricey restaurant. We just wanted something we’ve had before that was filling and tasty. We decided to go to what USED to be one of our favorite local Hibachi restaurants. Well, we and several other couples came in the door at the same time that evening. The greeter was an older Asian fellow who obviously could NOT handle the crowd. This is what he told us, «I no have food for you… food all gone… you shoo shoo»! I was shocked that this even came out of his mouth! Several of us were in dismay and questioned what we thought he said. I have NEVER been treated so rudely by ANY local establishment that I frequent. I will NEVER return. Telling us to «shoo shoo» as if I’m a child or a stray cat was down right disrespectful! This restaurant lost a very loyal customer that night!

The chef was entertaining and the food was delicious. The price was also quite reasonable for a japanese steakhouse. We will be coming back to try other options. The fried rice is very good too.

Went with my significant other and we sat by the sushi bar. I must say I’m pleasantly satisfied with my experience. We ordered 4 different rolls, all of which was marvelously delicious. And also ordered a small bowl of fried rice, also really good. The sushi guy was also sweet in giving us a sushi roll on the house. Customer service was amazing. Definitely would come back.

For my first visit to Shogun, I’m content with them. It was a Thursday night around 6:30 or so & I was surprised to see they weren’t very busy. It’s very dark inside, but I guess that’s how they want to set the mood. They do have the restaurant sectioned off, hibachi on one side, regular dining & the sushi bar on the other side. They also have a private room for parties, etc. Service was excellent, no complaints there. My friend & I got our own separate rolls, three a piece. I got the spider roll, the super volcano roll & dynamite roll. It took about 10 minutes to receive our sushi. Everything was delicious; however, there was one piece I bit into, which had some shell still in it. Therefore, the rest of my meal, I was very cautious. Thankfully, there were no more issues. Prices fall in line with other Japanese cuisine places. The restaurant itself was clean. Parking is not an issue, even though the restaurant is located in a strip mall.

Absolute worst service I’ve had in a restaurant ever. The food was not good, I got a nigiri eel and it was cold and seemed to have been leftover. The waitress Hyang was so rude, I gave her a few chances but still she insisted on having the worst attitude. Ruined my while dining experience, not that it was much of one in the first place
