DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse

They have recently made some changes to the store. The room where all the clearance was, is now a big open space. Not sure I love the new look, but it won’t keep me from shopping there!

Believe it or not, I’ve never actually bought shoes from a DSW store until recently. I’ve definitely been to numerous DSWs to browse their selections of shoes, but I never found anything in my size that I really liked and thought was worth the price.
Fast forward to last Friday…
After enjoying a nice lunch at Red Robin, my younger sister wanted to shop for shoes. We were planning to go to a mall for shoe-​shopping, but we saw that there was a DSW store and decided to check it out. I’m so glad we did!
This DSW is large, spacious, clean, and very well-​organized with a good selection and variety of shoes. It was probably three or four rows of shoes that I had to browse through before I found a few pairs that were my size (5 to 5.5). Initially, I thought maybe their smallest size in the whole store was a 6 because I didn’t see any 5 to 5.5 size women’s shoes. I’m glad we kept looking until we found some smaller sizes!
In addition to the «regular» priced shoes in the main part of the store, there’s a clearance room in the back by the restrooms! And although it was a small section, they actually had some 5 and 5.5 size clearance shoes! That was exciting. =)
When I was ready to purchase a pair of black slingback pumps, the employee who was ringing up my order asked if I had a DSW Rewards card. I told her I didn’t, and I asked if it was free. Since it was, I told her that I was interested in getting one. She told me about a few of the perks they offer for Rewards cardholders, including the fact that you would receive a $ 10 Rewards certificate for every 1,500 points you earn, free shipping on online orders, and a certificate for $ 5 off your purchase for your birthday. I mentioned the fact that it was actually my birthday that day, and she gave me an immediate $ 5 discount, which was unexpected but awesome. It also just so happened to be a tax-​free holiday on my birthday, so no sales tax was charged on the shoes, either! Woohoo!
Overall, this DSW store gets 4 stars for their friendly service and large yet well-​organized selection of men and women’s shoes. Although the black pumps I purchased weren’t necessarily cheap, supposedly the «Compare at Savings» (on my receipt) was over $ 30, meaning the «regular» retail price would have been that much more. Now that I know about the DSW Rewards card and have my own, I will definitely be shopping at their stores more often. I’ll return to this particular store if I happen to be in the area in the future.

I do like how well the store is organized. The staff is helpful. Although they do have bright stickers on large or special sizes (and I appreciate that!) the store does not have much to offer in size range. They have a bit more online, but usually I can do better by shopping online at Shoes or Zappos .com — for price and selection. My daughters, who (for the moment) have human-​sized feet are able to find shoes easily here and they love the store. Make sure you check the back room — that’s where all the clearance and markdowns are, and you can sometimes find some super deals back there. I usually shop through a Squidoo page I made to help others find large shoes sizes

Well manicured store. Easy to find shoes. I found my knee high boots right away. Open space… extremely easy to maneuver. Good selection of shoes. The prices are good if you are looking for good quality shoes. I bought a pair of dress shoes from here 5 years ago and they still look brand new. My knee high boots with studs were $ 80 bucks but since I will probably only perform in these it’s a good buy :-)
