You know I wanted to give this place 5 stars because the food is pretty decent, but after tonight it only deserves one star in my book. I came to this place to get some food for my family knowing they close at 10pm. I arrive at the drive thru at 9:50pm and I was told they were closed. The employee over the speaker said they close 10 minutes before 10pm. I mean come on, they didn’t have any customers what so ever. There are many establishments willing to stay open after their closing times just to increase their sales! I don’t mean to nag over 10 minutes but give me a break! Post 9:50pm as your official closing time, not 10pm. Thanks.

Tomboy’s is far better than Tommy’s in Lake Forest. Tomboy’s makes the best breakfasts. I ALWAYS come here to eat.

So greasy but so good. It’s close to work after our cafeteria closes down to damn early at 1pm. They have a wide variety of lunchtime treats: hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and salads. They take your orders pretty efficiently in the drive thru and if you dine in. I usually get the ¼ lb. Chili Cheese Dog with onions and mustard or a corn dog combo. This comes with a drink(Orange Bang) and French fries. My former coworker would rave about this place and used to point to his large stomach saying that this is thanks to Tomboy’s. I have never had breakfast here but I’m told it is good too.

Today I had a NY Pastrami sandwich with mustard and pickles with a side order of fries. The pastrami was thinly sliced and cooked just right. Most places over cook the meat. When you bite into it, the juices were dripping onto the plate. They are very generous with the pastrami and I probably could have made a second sandwich. This has been here for years and I stop by here for their pastrami. This is a local spot for the regulars. Stop by and give it a try if you are in the area.

I’ve been coming to Tomboy’s for as long as I can remember. My family loves this place just as much as I do. I typically go to get a cheeseburger combo with fries. The fries are always given in a generous portion and they are crispy and seasoned perfectly. They are known for they’re amazing chili and I can definitely vouch for that one. The chili cheese fries(I add onion) are absolutely perfect, and plentiful of course. The staff is always kind and the place is always clean. 10⁄10 would recommend

The price is way too much. A combo cheese burger with regular fries and a drink almost $ 10. I don’t mind if the food is really but the food is is normal. I rather pay $ 6.50 for a burger down in the 4 brothers which is really good, or a combo at In and Out for $ 6

Western Bacon Cheeseburger with fries. First of all the fries are whack and the burger is dry. I didn’t enjoy this meal at all. Although the pic it looks so delicious BUT it isn’t! The price was more expensive than Carl’s Jr but couldn’t come close. Their soda was also disgusting and the lemons were so acid they to were super dry and sour. There was little lighting so makes me wonder what their hiding? The restrooms need some serious attention but the three cashiers are doing a good job of holding the wall up from falling, in other words not doing a dam thing! Their drive thru system is a joke and needs some upgrading because it’s so dam noisy for no reason at all. Walls were dirty, trash cans full. However those windows we’re streaky clean almost invisible. Good job on those windows!

This was a great spot I stumbled upon! They have GREAT sweet potato fries. And I loved their cheeseburger protein style – reminded me of In-N-Out, but cheaper! What a deal!!!

Always a favorite when we come to LA. Great breakfast & lunch! We are picky and always make special orders and they always get them right. Give them a shot. Yummy!

I went there craving fried zucchini… To say the least, it tasted like a zucchini dipped in churro batter. Not my favorite. The service was good. I will give them a shot again and try something else.

Wow what a dump. Avoid this place it’s the WORST food. Our order was cold and greasy. the chili taste like it’s from a can. A can of alpo dog food the fries were cold and greasy and the burger was just nasty. We were there just about ten pm and a group of three people walked in and the vato behind the counter told them they were closed it was only 953pm then another vato walks in two minutes later and they served him. What a lame place there is a in n out burger a block away go there

My mom wanted curly fries and this place had ‘em so here we went! I ordered the Frisco Sandwich(cause I had one on the drive back from Sequoia and it was soooo good) with regular fries. It was okay. My mom’s curly fries(called Twister fries) were really salty! I think they just poured too much salt on the fries. The interior is okay; there is indoor and outdoor seating. They have Orange Bang, which is a huge plus! I’d say the food is okay, but the service was great! I love, love friendly places! I’ll be back to try something else.

There is so much product confusion when it comes to the name of the self-proclaimed World Famous«The Original Tommy’s Hamburgers» with similarly named hamburger joins like«Tomy’s», «Tommie’s», «Tommy’s», «Thomas’», and with this place here«Tomboy’s» I’m not sure which is the best and which are imitators vs legit viable contenders to the true crown as the champion of the chili burger, so I’m willing to try ‘em all out. I liked Tomboy’s, but felt the prices a tad high for what you get. I got a #4 Combo which is a Chili Cheeseburger(minus the cheese which I opted out of) which was a rather small size(similar to a standard In N Out Burger or McDonald’s Hamburger) along with french fries(previously frozen, as opposed to fresh cut like In N Out) and a soft drink with free self service refills, all for $ 6.99 plus tax. I felt the combo itself was worth more towards the $ 5 range with the drink and soda being worth about $ 1 each and the chili burger valued around $ 3, so a true«value» price should be $ 4 or less for this combo in my opinion. The burgers are made well done, so you can’t get ‘em medium rare where they’re moist and juicy. The beef patties are rather small in both circumference and in girth or thickness, so isn’t even close to being a «Whopper» or «Quarter Pounder» size which could the warrant a higher price tag. This is located near the Redondo Beach MTA station and the VW Dealership /Costco area. It has a drive through takeout, and the area itself is or can be a bit sketch with random transient looking folks loitering outside, inspiring use of the drive through over the dine in option. The meal itself wasn’t bad at all, it was quite good. I opted out of the mustard with the chili burger since in truth you get all of the moisture needed out of a condiment with the chili, so need nothing else but a slice of tomato and some onions. The fries were okay, and the drink has the standard Coca Cola brand soft drinks along with the Mexican favorites like Orange Bang, which is always a bonus to see available. I saw they had onion rings which looked delicious, and they have a nice greasy spoon diner type menu with lots of deep fried delights. Parking is easy, and the location is accessible but is in a somewhat busy area, so watch as you drive in and out of the parking lot. I’d recommend this place as something you don’t plan on going to but on the spur of the moment drive by and maybe crave and stop in. I don’t necessarily think it’s the best place for a hamburger or chili burger, but that’s a very subjective evaluation and opinion, so I’d encourage fans to try it for themselves. The service was friendly and the inside of the restaurant was okay and clean.

Burger was cold. Seemed like it was sitting around and they just slapped some cheese on it, which wasn’t melted.

The place is big man friendly with tables in the back area of the dinner room that move. My wife ordered the cheese burger with extra pickles. The meat patty in her burger looked like it was the size of two pickles put together. Posted picture to see. I got the pastrami burger that the meat patty and pastrami portion was decent. I would get the this burger again, but this time with grilled onions. The chili cheese fries were good and the portion was hearty. The chili had a good taste and the fries were well cooked. Can’t wait to try the pastrami sandwich next time.

This is the place for the best meal in Los Angeles. Joan’s on Third is second. Go run on the beach, do yoga, get your workout in, and then go here and have a chili-cheesburger and fries. Now you have lived. You’re welcome. The Manhattan Beach location is also good. But this one is better.

Recently order a hamburger combo and it was $ 9.42. The meat patty was not even the standard 1⁄3 lbs; not even ¼ but a meager 1⁄8 of a pound. The fries serving was very small also(think kid size). I’m typically not picky with these types of diners but when they charge more than the Habit or Fuddruckers where you actually get an industry standard 1/3lbs tasty burger and right amount of fries then we have a problem. If I wanted to pay for an over priced mini burger, I would have gone to Umami. I would rate this place half a star if the option were available. And what’s with the«no pets on the patio» sign.

Although I do enjoy the food. I have to give them a lower mark because they botch my order big time. I could tell that things are going to go really bad because little cashier lady wasn’t very attentive to me when I was giving her my order. I don’t know maybe she was having a bad day. Maybe her mind was somewhere like at the beach or at home or any place but there at tomboys. I clearly requested to have zucchini fries opposed to french fries. It wasn’t as though she did not hear me, I just basically believe that she wasn’t paying attention because when I said I wanted to zucchini fries she look me and repeated exactly what I said, «zucchini fries» and I said yes zucchini fries. I go to my table wait for my number to be called. My number is called I go to pick up my food and what do I have? You got it french fries. So not only do they have to take my french fries back. She has till the manager that she incorrectly gave me french fries with my pastrami sandwich. This caused a bit of confusion because zucchini fries cost more than french fries so you guested it they had to do the math and figure out the difference that I had to pay. Did she charge me originally for the zucchini fries? At this point I could care less take the $.48 and give me my zucchini fries please. I just cannot stand when my order is not taken properly, but the good thing was that the food was good. If not you would definitely be getting a two star for me. Update: I received a unclean cup today when I ordered coffee. So I’m dropping them down to a two star joint.

Three visits now. Wow, looks like I’m averaging once per year(not too often because it’s out of my way). Grilled Cheese 3 times out of 3. Get here for lunch after 1:00 and there’s plenty of room and parking. All the indoor seating is booth style. Outside is a covered patio.
